Design and screen
LG G4 Stylus has a simple design, good quality finishing. Similar to the LG G3 Stylus. the G4 Stylus also inherits some of the features of the high-end G4 styled plastic but the stylized aluminium-styled aluminium. The two sides are completely bare when the physical keypads are moved backwards. This position makes it easy for the user to press those keys (especially for self-portrait shots) rather than being placed on the side. While the top and bottom edges are also only arranged in turn 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB charging port. Less redundancy, the back is curved and quite comfortable to hold. The back cover is removable for sim card users (the G4 Stylus supports 2 sim 2 waves) and extends the capacity of the memory card as well as the battery when needed.
Of course, the G4 Stylus also has its own special features such as plastic back cover covered with iridescent paint. Not only does it bring the sleekness itself, it also increases friction when holding the device and restricts fingerprints. The physical volume boost and volume buttons on the back feature are similar to the G-series smartphones launched by LG earlier in the market, but are simpler and tighter. The camera system is also equipped with laser sensors like high-end models.
Another highlight in the design of the G4 Stylus is the stylus pen hidden in the upper right corner of the machine, the location often placed TV tuners for the line of Korean laptops such as Sky, Samsung, LG. It is specially designed to pull out and fit in easily but surely. The pen is quite light, 10.5 cm long with a diameter of 3.5mm, the pen body is made of smooth metal, smooth rubber writing head makes the use on the screen easy and smooth.
Back to the front, the G4 Stylus continues with its simple style when most of the space is the screen above is the speaker phone, sensor and front camera, the bottom with its logo. Praise points are the thin edges, an important factor to keep the machine is not too difficult, although the G4 Stylus owns a 5.7-inch screen (larger than the LG G4).
Larger in size than the LG G4 but the LG G4 Stylus lost quite a bit of resolution. Although the resolution has been upgraded to 1280 x 720 pixels compared to qHD of the LG G3 Stylus, all content is displayed clearly. However, the G4 Stylus lacks the sharpness that many expect, just because it’s tied with the G4 name. Backed by IPS and In-Cell technology, the G4 Stylus has a brighter screen (just 75% off), bright colors and wide viewing angles. The screen is just a little annoying when the viewer is under 15 degrees.
With gorgeous, protected Gorilla 3 tempered glass not only display more content, the operation is also easy to smooth (especially when using Stylus), the G4 Stylus is a suitable choice for users preferred entertainment.
Not only is the resolution improved, the G4 Stylus’s configuration has also been upgraded using the Mediatek 592 chip, which has eight 1.4-GHz cores compared to the G3 Stylus. Although still only support 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory but when running games like Asphalt 8: Airborne does not make it difficult G4 Stylus. Quite unexpected when the machine can handle smoothly in all frames the visual effects are okay. Large screen size also makes gaming on the G4 Stylus really “perfect”. Surfing the web, watching movies, opening and closing applications is smoother, with less latency even when multiple applications are open at the same time. However, it will also load slightly slower while simultaneously running other applications (up to 8 applications). Another small limitation is that the internal memory is quite small (8GB) so if users do install a lot of heavy game applications such as Asphalt 8 at the same time to take more photos and movies, then need to add a memory card. This is completely understandable and acceptable for a mid-priced smartphone.
The new Android 5.0 OS (Lollipop) operating system comes with a friendly interface. Included are some noteworthy features such as locking / unlocking the screen by double-tapping the screen, battery saving mode, Knock Code, Volume to open the camera or split screen to run two applications at the same time. Users can set up by going to Settings> Display> home screen touch keys> key combination to bring the shortcut key of the feature out. With its large size, the dual screen feature on the G4 Stylus is fun to watch while surfing the web at the same time. Especially when combined with QuickMemo + users can “note” (save) interesting things anytime they want. However, not all applications can be used in this mode.
G4 Stylus still supports the ability to change the interface of the screen to a simple form in some applications (dial pad shortcut) makes manual operation easier. However, the default keyboard on G4 Stylus does not support Vietnamese Telex type. Want to type the accent, users have to choose the suggestions appear below the screen quite time consuming. Try to switch to writing mode but still not much more convenient. Compensation when using Google Voice mode (voice messaging) G4 Stylus works well even when speaking small and long (20 words).
The rubberdium type pen basically has a fairly simple operation mechanism. Without the handwriting recognition feature, recognizing hand force to produce bold, light or touchless touch, the Stylus simply has good sensitivity. When tested in the QuickMemo + application, the Stylus pen fits in with creative notes or drawings rather than details or sketches, despite varying pen and thickness modes. Small, lightweight, which is inherently an advantage of the pen when performing touch screen operations, will inadvertently make some users feel uncertain. Users can also access QuickMemo + in a variety of ways such as swiping from the bottom up through the Home key or adding virtual keys in the Key Combinations or within the Quick Setting section of the notification bar to use the stylus.

In terms of imaging capabilities, the G4 Stylus is also down to a resolution of 13MP, high end features such as OIS optical image stabilization, HDR mode is removed. The interface is also minimalist with only 2 automatic or panoramic modes, flash off, customizable settings, turn on / off voice capture, self-timer, Set grid capture mode. This is not a big minus for a mid-range smartphone as well as for users who only need to shoot in basic mode. Of course, the image quality is not comparable to the G4 even in bright enough conditions. The G4 Stylus offers fast focus. The machine is still equipped with autofocus features by laser – a feature very rarely seen in a midrange phone on the market today. Pictures are brightness, contrast is good but the sharpness and small details are not high. With indoor lighting or low-light conditions, the image quality is quite good, and the image is prone to lose focus if the photographer is not sure. The front camera also only has a skin smoothness adjustment bar and no customizable features but 5MP resolution is higher than the G3 Stylus. This makes G4 Stylus self-portraits better than previous generations in terms of detail, as well as better visibility. Of course the highlight of the G4 Stylus is inherited the support for selfie more convenient shooting features such as holding hands in front of the camera then holding hands to the camera automatically, commanded voice capture ( You can say “Cheese”, “Smile”, “Whiskey”, “Kimchi” or “LG”), press the back up / down button, virtual flash.
The G4 Stylus’s 13MP camera is capable of recording video at full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels), 30 frames per second in good quality, as opposed to still images. But users will have to hold hands or use the base if long rotation because the camera does not support anti-vibration.
After the experience, the tester was surprised about the battery life. Keep in mind, the G4 Stylus is powered by a 3000mAh battery, but it’s a 5.7-inch IPS HD display. However, when the experience with continuous wifi connection screen brightness is usually over 75%, G4 Stylus lasts 11 hours 2 minutes, watch video 9 hours 32 minutes. Even when running heavy games G4 Stylus also stay longer than 5 hours. If used on a regular basis with moderate tasks such as surfing the web, Facebook or watching a few clips as well as shooting G4 Stylus will work more than a day.
The LG G4 Stylus belongs to the phablet segment but beautifully designed and easy to use even with one hand. Moderate configuration but with many smart features, good usability. LG G4 Stylus is an attractive choice in the midrange segment.
