amazon REDMI NOTE 7 reviews
Redmi Note 7 still owns the strengths commonly found Xiaomi smartphone as high configuration, attractive selling price but the biggest highlight of the machine is the 48MP camera is not really impressive as parameters.
At the beginning of this year, Redmi officially separated into a child brand independent of its own business strategy. The Redmi Note 7 was the first smartphone to mark this change and it quickly attracted attention when equipped with up to 48MP resolution camera, while retaining the Redmi’s strengths. High capacity battery and good configuration in price range.
Design: glossy back, not seamless plastic frame
Redmi Note 7 has had a “makeover” screen compared to its seniors with a more polished and eye-catching back. This back also has gradient gradation effects like many other smartphones on the market today except for the black version we used in this lesson. In addition to the black version, the device currently has two other color options: green and red.
The chassis of the Redmi Note 7 uses glossy plastic material and the surrounding border has a plastic layer protruding up, making the frame without the seamlessness and causing hands to hold or swipe the edge. The body is also quite thick (8.1mm) and has a heavy hand feel (186g).
Redmi has separated as a brand so it is easy to understand that the Redmi Note 7 no longer has the Xiaomi logo on the back. The dual camera cluster on the back side is placed vertically which looks identical to Mi 8 Lite. Note that the rear camera group of the Redmi Note 7 protrudes much while the enclosed case in the box is not thick enough to protect, so be careful to avoid scratching the camera cluster.
Redmi Note 7 still has all the familiar hard ports and keys. The remarkable thing about this phone is the USB Type C port with fast charging capability.
In general, design is the point where Redmi Note 7 changes, looks more polished. However, the lack of seamless edges and the screen clusters are too high, making this phone not feel as comfortable as previous generations.
Water drops screen, color reproduction is quite standard
The Redmi Note has constantly changed in screen design in recent years. Redmi Note 5 is one of Xiaomi’s first smartphones to switch to the screen ratio of 18: 9, Redmi Note 6 owns a “rabbit ears” screen and now, Redmi Note 7 turns to design water drops.
The water drops section of Redmi Note 7 contains only a selfie camera, so the area for the notification bar is very wide, allowing for more information to be displayed. However, the “chin” part is still a bit thick so the screen / body ratio does not improve significantly from the previous generation. Specifically, the screen / body ratio of the Redmi Note 7 reached 81.4%, still slightly thicker than Mi 8 Lite’s rabbit ears screen (82.5%).
The display quality of Redmi Note 7 is similar to previous generations. IPS LCD panel for wide viewing angle and color reproduction are quite standard. Maximum brightness is quite average, enough to use in most cases but it will be difficult to display outdoors.

Performance: The cheapest Snapdragon 660 smartphone today
At a price of $250 for 4GB RAM version / 64GB internal memory, Redmi Note 7 is one of the few smartphones (genuine) that owns the cheapest Snapdragon 660 today. This is an attractive factor for young users who are students who often need to play mobile games. Many products that use the Snapdragon 660 processor with the same screen resolution and memory that we recently reviewed such as Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite or Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 can “balance” daily tasks well, even playing heavy graphics games.
With the familiar benchmark tools, scores of Redmi Note 7 are on par with smartphones using Snapdragon 660 chip that BiaReview previously evaluated.
About the software, Redmi Note 7 currently installs MIUI 10 version fully supports the familiar features of Xiaomi home like the second space to store private data, dual application runs two Facebook or Messenger accounts … On the same phone, lock the application to password protection and support many phone control operations with gestures.
The battery is comfortable for the day, supporting quick charge Quick Charge 4
Redmi Note 7 is inherited a high capacity 4,000 mAh battery from the elder Redmi Note 6 Pro. This battery capacity is enough for users to use plenty of energy during the day. This can be clearly seen through the familiar tests of BiaReview with watching movies, surfing the web or playing games.
Highlights of the Redmi Note 7 is a machine supporting fast charging feature Quick Charge 4.0, so charging a 4,000 mAh battery is no longer a problem. However, included in the box is only a 5V-2A regular charger, users will have to buy fast charger from outside to take advantage of this advantage.
The camera is still stable in price range but the 48MP figure has more marketing significance
The race of “dots” on smartphones seems to have ended long ago suddenly returned. Redmi Note 7 is one of many cheap and mid-range phones currently equipped with 48MP camera. However, as we all know, more megapixel cameras don’t mean better shooting.
By default, the 48MP camera of Redmi Note 7 will take pictures at 12MP resolution. Of course, it also allows 48MP shooting mode to be enabled. But when you enable this mode, you will have to sacrifice the AI and HDR scene detection features. The shooting speed of 48MP is also longer, up to a few seconds even in good lighting conditions, and significantly higher capacity, about 2.5 times more. But more importantly, the difference in quality between 12MP images and 48MP is insignificant, difficult to recognize.
In bright conditions, the camera of the Redmi Note 7 offers good quality in price range, both in terms of detail, brightness and ability to capture fonts. However, photos from this phone have a problem with color balance not good, which is often darker than reality. When compared with Sony’s Redmi Note 7 Pro sensor, Redmi Note 7 has a “short of breath” part. Photos from the Redmi Note 7 Pro have a more reproducible color scheme and a wider light band.
When in low light, it has its own Night Mode: multiple shots and long exposure to produce the final, brighter, more detailed image. In fact, the night mode image gives better results than conventional shooting, getting more details in darker areas, more vivid colors. However, this image is only suitable for static scenes because of the long processing time, up to 4 seconds with low light conditions. Shooting in normal mode, image quality is only average, noise is clear and detail is low.
Redmi Note 7 has a 5MP secondary camera that measures the depth of field. In most cases, the machine separates the background and the subject well, especially in favorable lighting conditions and the background is not too complicated. However, photos of low-light fonts removed are of poor quality, and the subject is much more quickly and often smoothed out, leading to a lack of nature. In addition, Redmi Note 7 does not allow editing the level of font deletion before and after shooting.
In bright enough conditions, the phone’s 13MP front-facing camera gives good detail and contrast, but the color is a bit pale, in contrast to the rear camera’s bright colors. The image deletes the font at an acceptable level despite having a hardware limitation, only one camera.
Overall, the Redmi Note 7 is still a good phone, when it was upgraded in design and still retained the strengths of the Redmi series that were previously high-priced good battery and configuration. The ability to take pictures is still acceptable if you don’t expect too much of a 48MP camera. In fact, the 48MP figure is much more marketing than practical because if compared, this camera is not as good as the main camera on the Mi 8 Lite. So, if you are interested in taking more photos, you can buy Mi 8 Lite or wait for more time to buy Redmi Note 7 Pro using Sony’s 48MP sensor.
