From the actual use, Test Lab found that each MDR-NC7 earbuds come in direct contact with the earrings, but with a thick padded, plus a swivel design to reduce the impact force. Dynamic, so still very quiet when used. Each ear has a distinctive left / right distinction. Test Lab also feels very comfortable even when using this headset constantly due to the light weight (about 134g). The Sony MDR-NC7 is also compatible with a variety of head sizes as the dome design can vary widely. This headset is well-suited to audio sources equipped with 3.5mm output.
However, Test Lab is not really impressed with the sound of this compact headset. Sound quality is made by two rare earth magnets (Neodymium) are generally quite warm and natural in the midrange. Sony MDR-NC7 bass notes are quite warm but not yet deep and “heaviness” needed. The Sony MDR-NC7’s high-pitched strips are not exactly noticeable and lack transparency – especially when the noise canceling feature is enabled from the environment.
Although not quite sound quality, but due to use of closed design, the Sony MDR-NC7’s sound space is quite wide. In addition, with the combination of thick mattress padding, the Sony MDR-NC7 is quite successful in creating a private music space. The battery life of the Sony MDR-NC7 is also quite long, with more than 20 hours of battery life.
In general, with its compact appearance, high maneuverability and decent noise filtering capabilities, the Sony MDR-NC7 can be a sensible choice to bring a private space with you.
