We just wish the Aspire C27-1655-UA93 was a bit cheaper, and sure enough, Acer now has a Core-i5 version – the Aspire C27-1655-UA91 – that has the same great design as its Core i7 sibling, offers solid overall performance and reasonable price. We couldn’t find any glaring flaws in this 27-inch AIO desktop, and the value it offers on a price-performance basis makes it a good enough all-in-one solution for almost everyone.

This Acer Aspire C27 doesn’t promise a game-changing performance, but it performs like an everyday workhorse with flying colors. It is highly recommended.

The 27-inch Apple iMac is still the gold standard among large-screen all-in-one (AIO) computers, but the Aspire C27-1655-UA91 has a slim design and slim profile at a much lower price point. You’ll love the look of this AIO desktop, as the plastic construction doesn’t come cheap either. Everything works fine and the system is blameless, with thin bezels framing the display placed atop a V-shaped stand. All components are packed behind the bottom half of the device. The screen and top are only 0.25 inches thick.

At 24.2 inches wide and 17.7 inches tall, the Aspire C27 is more compact than the competing 27-inch iMac and weighs half as much (just 8.8 pounds versus 19.7). The Acer Aspire C27 is not only a great choice for a tight budget, but also if you don’t have much space on your desk.

One reason the Aspire C27 is so small is that Acer chose to place the speakers behind the display, rather than a speaker bar below it. As a result, you don’t have a speaker on the front, but a device that comes out from the bottom. I was skeptical of this setup at first, but the audio output is still impressive as it bounces off a desk and can easily fill a small office. However, without a subwoofer, the stereo speakers lack much bass response but still deliver loud volume for watching Netflix and YouTube.

Solid performance and extras

Our review model of the Acer Aspire C27 features an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 12GB of memory, a 512GB SSD (loaded with Windows 10 Home), a 512GB hard drive, and Intel Iris Xe graphics. The Core i5 chip used here is a quad-core mobile CPU, while the Iris Xe is a low-end mobile graphics option, a step up from conventional CPU-based integrated graphics.

Overall, this configuration of the Acer C27 feels comfortable and handles various multitasking situations without hiccups. Just like the Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3, it runs smoothly and efficiently, thanks to efficient portable components that give a big boost to everyday work.

For general use, the Aspire C27-1655-UA91 has more than enough power to deliver an enjoyable Windows 11 experience and can even handle some light media editing tasks. Also, with Iris Xe graphics, the Aspire can’t be classified as a gaming PC – far from it – but it is capable of playing casual games at native resolution.

We often see inexpensive, wired keyboards and mice in low- to mid-range AIOs, but Acer favors the Aspire C27 with the wireless kit. The keyboard isn’t the gaming type, but it’s still compact, comfortable, and very useful. The mouse works well but is a bit small.

1080p screen will be brighter

As mentioned, the difference in screen resolution makes the difference between the Aspire C27 and the 27-inch Apple iMac. Acer’s full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) display offers a fraction of the iMac’s Retina 5K (5,120 x 2,880 pixels) display.

Ideally, the 1080p resolution is more suitable for a 22 or 24-inch panel, but stretching it over the 27-inch diagonal size is a bit too much. Text and icon edges look blurry, and you can easily see individual pixels when sitting at a normal distance from the screen.

No USB-C port

The Acer Aspire C27-1655-UA91 has a wide selection of ports, but it’s still far from perfect. All ports are placed in a neat row on the rear panel. One or two front- or side-mounted ports for easier access would be better, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to reach the ports around the back.

However, what you get here only covers the basics: an HDMI video output, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, an Ethernet jack, and audio input and output ports.

The biggest omission from this port range is the USB Type-C port. If you have a USB-C storage drive, a charging cable for your phone, or other devices, you’ll need to invest in a USB-C adapter.

Should buy Acer Aspire C27?

If you just need an affordable all-in-one, then the Acer Aspire C27 fits the bill. This 27-inch AIO is not without its appeal. A mobile Core i5 CPU and Intel Iris Xe graphics, along with 12GB of RAM and rich, fast SSD storage provide a great boost to your all-in-one. The selection of components is efficient enough that you don’t need a noisy cooling fan to check the temperature. The slim, compact design is also a boon for those with limited space but looking for a large-screen AIO.

Granted, screen brightness would have been better, but it’s still a great machine at this price point. It will feel like home in the office or living room and the build quality is good. You get a few USB 3.1 ports, good connectivity inside, and a quad-core Intel Core i5 CPU for a beefy look.

All in all, the Acer Aspire C27 has the screen and build quality to handle all-in-one home and office life, and that makes the Acer Aspire C27-1655-UA91 an easy choice.
