Equipped with super durable shell, integrated NAND flash memory chip with USB 3.1 Gen1, SSD, Adata SD700 is a mobile data storage solution suitable for users who need high performance and durability.

Adata SD700 is one of the products in the line of portable storage, but instead of the traditional 2.5-inch hard drive is built into the internal memory is similar to the SSD. The product combines a host of cutting-edge features and technologies to give users high performance, durability and convenience wherever it come.

In terms of design, the Adata SD700 has a square shape that is completely different from the rectangular design of most of today’s portable hard drives on the market. The device is compact size 83.5×83,5×13,9mm, weighs only 100g so users can easily tuck into pocket pants pocket to carry. The appearance of the Adata SD700 is quite similar to the SSD SanDisk Extreme 500.

Packed in a rugged, rugged metal casing with sturdy rubber surrounds, the Adata SD700 drive provides excellent dust and waterproof performance in accordance with the National Electronics Commission’s IP68 IEC International (International Electrotechnical Commission). According to the announcement, the Adata SD700 is fully dust-proof and water-resistant to a depth of 1.5m within 30 minutes.

In addition, the Adata maker said the SD700 series also achieved the MIL-STD-810G certification by the 516.6 test due to its shock-resistant cover design. This is a standard set by the US Department of Defense to identify a device that is technically durable enough to be used in harsh military environments.

Specifically, this method tests the shock resistance by performing a free fall drop (height from about 1.2 to 1.8 meters) to ensure that the device can withstand sudden shock or vibration. Encountered during transportation or when operating in many environments.

The Adata SD700 is tested at Black Lab and is 256GB in size, enough to store and carry with you a collection of high quality photos, music, movies or other personal data. In addition, according to information on the Adata website, this product also has a yellow version and two other capacities of 512GB and 1TB.

For communication, the Adata SD700 features a first generation USB1.0 (Gen 1) port that provides enough data bandwidth to take full advantage of the built-in SSD. In fact, USB 3.1 Gen 1 is the interface introduced by the Implementers Forum (USB-IF) in 2013, replacing the earlier USB 3.0 technology in 2008, with the same data transfer rate as theory is 5Gb/s.

According to the announcement, the Adata SD700 delivers up to four times faster performance than conventional external HDDs, with a read speed of up to 440MB / s, according to the manufacturer. The Lab test found that the connector on the SD700 also has a thick rubber cover that protects against dust and water, and is easy to open when needed.

The Adata SD700 uses NAND 3D flash memory technology, in particular, stacked TLC. This technology provides higher storage density and more reliable, better energy efficiency than previous NAND 2D flash SSDs. Technically, the key component of the SSD is the NAND flash memory chip. There are basically four types of NAND flash memory architecture: SLC (Single-level cell), MLC (Multi-level cell), Triple-level cell (TLC), and finally QLC (Quad-level cell). NAND flash technology usually uses 2D SLC, while NAND 3D uses the rest of the architecture.

As usual, Test Lab uses specialized tools including ATTO Disk Benchmark 3.05 and HD Tune Pro 5.60 software to measure the read / write speed of the Adata SD700 mobile drive. All tests in this post are made on Dell Inspiron 14 (3437) laptops equipped with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.

With read / write speeds measured by ATTO software, Test Lab recognizes USB 3.0 read and write speeds up to 420MB / s and 454MB / s respectively. This result is comparable to the 440MB / s reported by the company, and is 15 times higher than that achieved via USB 2.0.

Tested to copy a 36.6GB Blu-ray video from PC to Adata SD700 via USB 3.0, Test Lab took only 2 minutes and 43 seconds to complete. Meanwhile, if done the same operation via USB 2.0, it takes 21 minutes 06 seconds to complete. In addition, Test Lab also tested the copy of the same file from the computer to an external hard drive of Adata, but equipped with a traditional internal HDD via USB 3.0, the result is time to Copy about 6 minutes 07 seconds.

So, it can be said that the drive Adata SD700 has helped users save considerable time when copying, especially for large data files. Specifically, the copy time of the Adata SD700 drive is shortened to nearly eight times that of the external hard drive equipped with a traditional HDD (via USB 3.0 port). Copy via USB 3.0 compare to USB 2.0 is actually twice as fast.

Overall, with its ultra-durable shell design for shock, dust and water, with NAND 3D flash memory technology and USB 3.1 Gen 1 port, the Adata SD700 drive provide a storage solution. Mobility is both secure and provides high performance for computer users.
