amazon Asus GTX 950 Strix reviews

The back of the box is the technology applied on the product, including DirectCU II heatsink, 0 dB noise fan, Super Alloy Power II compliant components and GPU Tweak II overclocking tool.

The 0 dB heatsink is not special at all. I pay attention to standard components and overclocking software.

Miniature accessory, only driver discs and manuals.

Design exactly like the name Strix. All Strix graphics cards are shaped like this. There are many dissenting opinions on this Asus radiator, some people compliment, some people complain badly. I myself did not feel like it at first, but the longer I looked, the better.

Black, fashionable.

The black paint of the mask has just shaded, as in the picture how life is the same way.

Asus paid close attention to the detail, showing in small details such as Asus and Strix carved on the heat sink, helping the card has more lines, not monotonous.

The GTX 950 supports SLI 2 graphics cards, an 85% increase in performance over one card.

The card has four output ports: two DVI ports, one HDMI port and one DisplayPort port. At the same time, the Asus GTX 950 Strix also supports up to four monitors at the same time.

The Strix’s most significant advantage lies in its extremely quiet fan, even when rotating at high speed.

The radiator is equipped with two large diameters, nickel-plated.

Back card has a board support to curb the curvature because of the weight of the heatsink.

The GTX 950 Strix requires an additional 6-pin, 450-watt power supply.

Components and heat dissipation

The Strix versions of Asus have so far broken off most of its products, the GTX 950 Strix is no exception.

Up to 4 phases powering the GPU. Each phase has a higher capacity compared to conventional power phases, controlled by 3 mosfets.

Phase VRM is also equipped with similar components.

On the circuit board there are four high-end memory chips from Samsung, each with 512 GB of capacity for 2 GB of GDDR5 memory.

Direct Thermal Radiator, GPU Direct Thermal Inductors.

The quality of the heat dissipation can not complain at any point, the leaves are shiny aluminum.

Parameters – Overclocking

The Asus GTX 950 Strix overclocked up to 1165 MHz (more than 14% of the default), the actual boost pulse is 1430 MHz. However they do not overclock memory that retains the same 1653 MHz as Nvidia launched. Overclocking this high without exaggeration is a pity, because the memory width of the GTX 950 is only 128 bits, causing the bandwidth is not high.

The highest clock speed I achieved was 1280/2000 MHz, boosted to 1558 MHz when playing games.

Temperature – Noise

At the time of testing, room temperature was 30 degrees Celsius. Asus GTX 950 Strix operating temperature on benchtable:

– Idle: 42 degrees C, fan does not spin.

– Game: 69 degrees C, fan 50% ~ 1660 rpm.

– Game (@ 1280/2000 MHz): 71 degrees C, 55% fan ~ 1830 rpm.

Operating temperatures and noise levels are always the strengths of Strix graphics cards. Although the room temperature is 30 degrees Celsius, the operating temperature is far from the 80 degrees Celsius threshold set by Nvidia. The card works silently, even though my benchtable is right next to me, but I can not hear any small sound.
