Overview of the design

Flipping back and forth, I think the most beautiful is the top and bottom lids, from the color to the luxurious neat layout, the familiar high-end concentric circles on the Zenbook line and the gold-plated Asus logo look good as well.

For me, the concentric circle is one of the most expensive and reasonable motifs on laptops. In addition to providing a premium look, it is also a very good anti-fingerprint hero.

The whole area inside the color is very Ok, only one crime is sticking too many stickers (which doesn’t affect me because it’s hard to live), we can move less to the bottom, it looks messy but ” inferior”.

The machine is only about 1kg light and the durability meets US military standards (MIL-STD-810G) this is the most advanced system of saving experience on laptop durability, how about asking “Google” for me?

What’s the screen on Zenbook 14 worth?

Reading through the company’s specifications, this is a screen that is invested very seriously from the technology inside to the external structure. But where to invest?

The first great thing that can be seen with the naked eye is that Asus somehow managed to fit a 14-inch screen into the chassis of a 13-inch laptop. As a result, we can enjoy the 14 “screen with maximum compactness.

Asus is even more “excessive” when combined with NanoEgde ultra-thin screen border technology, this technology helps the screen “encroach on the curb” up to 92% of the body ratio, and the screen border is so thin that feels like the device has no bezel!

Going into the color of the screen on Zenbook 14, according to the company, the screen has a color coverage of up to 100% sRGB, this is the color system that represents the display ability and color of the image.

Through the Spyder 4 colorimeter, the results are exactly as the company says (100% sRGB).

However, the color coverage at the time of purchase is only 91.6%, you have to weigh it yourself or ask the store to re-weigh it to be accurate, both AdobeRGB and DCI P3 are above average. Concluding that whether with the naked eye or science, the screen of the Zenbook 14 is very beautiful. Of course, the IPS candle is indispensable, the screen has a Full-HD resolution (1920×1080 pxl), 60Hz refresh rate, Anti-Glare anti-glare technology, and the screen is covered with glossy-looking glass. I don’t know what kind of glass it is, it looks nice but it’s best not to touch it because it has fingerprints “distracting”.

How does the Ergo Lift hinge help?

This type of hinge is starting to become more popular, so I don’t need to talk about it anymore.

When I use it compared to the regular type, Ergo Lift likes it much more. The first thing that “shows” the eye is to see it extremely “genuine”, helping to create a tilt, so pressing the key is as pleasant as advertised.

The second thing is better heat dissipation.

True to theory and practice, I see that the hinge creates a lot of air space and this has a good tendency to help reduce heat and improve the life of components in the machine.

One more benefit of sound, of course, the open space will help the sound spread more evenly instead of being “suffocating” like a regular stand.

Connection port system

Quickly surfing the sides of the machine I see, the connection ports on the UX433FA are in the form of “good”, it has everything from HDMI, USB 2.0, 3.0, MicroSD slot, and audio / micro combo to USB 3.1 type-C.

The first point I like is the MicroSD slot, for me, it’s much more convenient than the big slot, maybe you all know that technology devices are now more and more compact, so the Micro card is a great idea for saving, typically phones, dash cams…

Even the card in the camera now also uses a small card attached to the big one, so that when shooting is done, it is still a micro card that is easier to connect.

What comes is port C, just a standard not thunderbolt 3, but is there better than nothing, tested, it can’t connect to the screen, the main task is for higher transfer rates than some USB 3.0 ports, USB 2.0.

A bit sad because there is no fingerprint sensor, fortunately, there is still an infrared camera to remove, and log in by face recognition, although I am not familiar, I find it as convenient as fingerprint scanning.

Great Sound or just advertising!

Most of Asus’ high-end and near-premium laptops always have SonicMaster audio technology, ask Google, Asus has partnered with Harman Kardon to produce a high-quality sound system that “frustrates”

That’s just advertising, according to experience, the bass is strong and thick, and the soundstage is deep, giving the music depth and softness.

Even if you are not an audiophile, you can still hear the detail of the mid-range and the sharpness but not the glare of the Treble range.

It’s not too supernatural, I want to distinguish that the sound on the UX433FA is very quality, can be used for entertainment, and is confident that it is better than many other speaker systems segments.

Keyboard – Touchpad

Speaking of the UX433FA’s keyboard, I have two opposing opinions as follows. If asked if the design is beautiful, I answer “a little nice”, this type on the MSI PS42 I met, the first time I didn’t find it beautiful, but after a few times, it started to get a better feel with it, because of the deep, smooth travel, extremely good response, big keys.

With a normal keyboard, if the response is high, the journey will be short, typing fatigue, but UX433FA’s keyboard is both fast and not tiring.

The UX433FA’s touchpad is extremely curious, it can glow and activate into a table that includes numbers and signs of plus, minus, multiplication, and division, looking back and forth, the main use of this Numpad is just for us to enter numbers quickly, serving jobs that need to enter data and calculate continuously, not as versatile as on the Zenbook Pro 14 and 15 I’ve seen.

As advertised, the experiment by entering numbers continuously in numbers shows that Numpad gives higher performance than I use the default number pad available. At the same time, when activating the Numpad, we can still use the touchpad in parallel with each other very conveniently.

In my opinion, this Numpad is suitable for some jobs that need a lot of data and calculations, for ordinary people it does not help much, but having a Numpad indeed looks unique.

Hard Drive Speed

The internal hard drive is from Western Digital (WD PC SN520 SDAPNUW) 256GB. The company announced its maximum read speed up to 1700 M/s and write 1400M/s. In the test using CrystalDiskmark software, the standard read and write speed is a bit low, this speed is suitable for those who have a lot of file copying operations or similar to realize its speed.

Configuration and performance

For office laptops, the 58SS configuration (I set it up myself) (I5-8GB-SSD) is no longer strange to me and to anyone who has used the later models, but this time it is not I5-8250 more but I5-8265.

According to a preliminary “investigation”, the I5-8265U gives a higher clock speed even though the architecture and features are the same and Intel estimates its performance to be 3-11% higher than the Kaby-Lake-R old generation. Regarding Ram cannot be upgraded.

First, I will show you how the comparison of users. You will see that 84% of I5-8265U users rate its clock as positive when it falls around 1.8Ghz and up to 3.8Ghz, although it is not yet 3.9 GHz as announced, it is much faster than that with the old model I5-8250U

Unfortunately, I can’t hold it for long to test more things to make it more objective, In general, its performance does not deviate much from the old chip.

If you just use the basic and like its design, the I5-8250 or I5-8265 will do.

Because of this speed I can’t feel by feeling but have to go through the data to prove it, so if you like it, then buy it or not.

How’s the battery life?

In the process of testing the battery life this time, I focused 60% on typing Word on google, so it will consume more battery than a normal word, 20% on watching youtube, 10% on surfing the web and reading news and 10% resting on the spot, in that brightness is always at 90%, with Bluetooth mouse connection.

Results in 8 hours. During these 8 hours, all activities are at standard level, not at full capacity.

If you do sales or something like replying to messages for customers, the time will be a little different.

During use, I have never forced the machine to run 100% of the CPU, so the machine always keeps the temperature at a warm level, if sitting in a cold room, there is almost no heat effect. Using more than 2 hours, the heatsink has a slight heat in the hinge area, but it is not noisy even if it is hotter.

Software and User Experience

Operating System

The Asus ZenBook 14 UX433FA ships with Windows 10 Home or Windows 11 Home, providing a familiar and intuitive user interface with enhanced productivity features and security updates. Windows 11 offers a modern layout, improved task management, and compatibility with Microsoft Store apps for productivity, creativity, and entertainment.

Asus Quick Key

Asus Quick Key software allows users to create custom shortcuts and automate repetitive tasks using the laptop’s touchpad. By assigning gestures or hotkeys to specific actions or applications, users can streamline workflow efficiency and maximize productivity while minimizing manual input and navigating through multiple windows or programs.

Security Features

Biometric Security

Some models of the ZenBook 14 UX433FA include a fingerprint sensor integrated into the touchpad for secure biometric authentication using Windows Hello. This feature enhances security by allowing users to log in quickly and securely without typing passwords, ensuring personal data protection and preventing unauthorized access to the laptop.

Webcam Privacy Shield

Asus incorporates a webcam privacy shield into the laptop’s design, allowing users to cover the webcam lens when not in use. This physical cover enhances privacy and prevents potential unauthorized access or unintended video recording, providing peace of mind for users concerned about webcam security and online privacy.

Summary

In short, I think this child is suitable for a business man who needs to show a lot of photos, usually moving. Because firstly it is extremely light (1kg) secondly the battery life is high, the display is very good.
