Burial At Sea – When Irrational Games “left” the underwater world of Rapture in the first two versions of the game series to come to Columbia’s “City on the Cloud”, many gamers “nostalgic” feeling suffocated. The weirdness of a dark world should not appreciate the light-filled atmosphere of the Bioshock Infinite version.

As a result, two parts of Burial At Sea expansion were released one after another to “please” loyal fans of the series.

In the version Burial at Sea – Episode 2 has just released, gamers once again embarked on an adventure in the “underworld” Rapture as Elizabeth, to learn more about the formation of Columbia – the city of “crazy” ambitions are no less than Rapture.

Leaving the sun-flooded Columbia, players will follow Elizabeth “infiltrated” the sea to go into the overcast city of Rapture.

Unlike the first two versions of the series, Burial at Sea – Episode 2 brings the player to a different corner of the city.

The plot in Burial at Sea – Episode 2 follows the old model, full of fragments of memory, still full of despair that players learn through the diary fragments scattered throughout the game screen to make a picture complete painting.

In general, these stories harmoniously coordinate into the game circuit, bringing some patchy information about the “catastrophic” days when Rapture gradually became “fallen”, thereby leading players through throughout the journey.

You will re-experience the devastating, ruined atmosphere of the Rapture with once-splendid expressions, dark scenes with threats ready to jump towards you, recreating a feeling dreaded “classics” in the first two versions which were lacking in the main game of Bioshock Infinite.

It can be said that Burial at Sea – Episode 2 gives gamers the experience of horror in the “traditional” style with the true “crazy” character lines, to satisfy the high demands of veteran fans of the series game.

Although there are very few improvements in the game’s engine compared to the first two versions due to the same Unreal Engine 3 platform, the light distribution strategy in Burial at Sea – Episode 2 makes a stronger impression although in the same context.

Divided scenes with a mixture of strong light sources and dark areas create a distinctly contrasting feeling.

This distribution of light creates a blur, uncomfortable when being besieged between four dark surfaces, forcing players to “cling to” the few strong sources of light that are left in the desolate scenes.

Besides, the gameplay of Burial at Sea – Episode 2 also encourages players to “sneak” by giving lots of “achievements” if they can “smoothly” walk through the levels.

Even Burial at Sea – Episode 2 also owns a “1998 mode” mode that forces the player not to use any “hot” weapons.

When “forced” to move slowly in dark and shadowy corners, the feeling of “horror” becomes stronger than simply using the flash of light as in the first two versions.

Music is also a highlight in Burial at Sea – Episode 2 when most of the popular songs in the 50s-60s are “buffered” into the game circuit at the right time and place.

The unique point of the method of using music in the game series to create the “atmosphere” is still being fully promoted, even playful music when emitted from the old speakers in a wild setting. But they have “joined hands” to create a feeling of creepy, tragic, cold.

Fast action sequences are also prompted by fast-paced, fast-paced music that easily pushes the player’s emotions to the climax.

Although Irrational Games’ team of artists has tried very hard to show the artistic level of the BioShock series in general and Burial at Sea – Episode 2 in particular, it is undeniable that the game’s graphics platform does not catch keep up with the development of the age.

With the graphics platform almost unchanged from the first version released in 2007, Burial at Sea – Episode 2 still shows pretty “hard” models from facial expressions to movements or fighting moves.

If you are too familiar (or even “addicted”) to the smooth action of recently released games, the models in Burial at Sea – Episode 2 are quite similar to “mobile dolls”.

Although the narrative in fragmented way has been a literary trend in the past 10 years and is also the highlight of the series in terms of plot, when it is too “fragmented” it into fragments. Snacking around forces players to “storming brain” of speculation is not very suitable for an action game.

As a result, the plot becomes confusing for “pure” action fans, making Burial at Sea – Episode 2 more confusing and complicated.
