Cyberpunk 2077: Since the first concept photo was released, it was May 2012 until the end of 2020; Cyberpunk 2077 was officially released to the public, a “long” journey of 8 years and seven months.

During that time, we saw CD Projekt RED’s house brother, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, leapfrog and step up to the status of one of the most beloved games in history.

We have a series of stormy names such as God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Serkiro: Shadow Die Twice. Besides, the giants are gradually losing their position in the eyes of fans like Bioware, Naughty Dogs, Bethesda.

Around the same time, Watch Dogs had all three parts come out into a separate trilogy, eight official Call of Duty parts were released, a total of 14 different versions of Assassin’s Creed came to players, plus another “Viking’s Creed” part.

Only will we know how long the journey of Cyberpunk 2077 is and how the burden of success is not small when so many examples are conceived for so long to become disappointing products like Duke Nukem Forever, Ghost Recon Future Soldiers.

There is little peace of mind because the famous CD Projekt RED developer has a “heart” with the product that is also the name that has received the most sympathy at the moment.

Accompanying that is the undisputed “hype” of the community that gradually increases with each published trailer, culminating in the appearance of Keanu Reeves at E3 2019.

Cyberpunk 2077 theoretically has a hand in everything to be able to step into the stage of fame.

Don’t let the first images fool you: Cyberpunk 2077 will be a bombardment-heavy action game.

It can be said that it is a product for those who like the feeling of being immersed in the world and contemplating things in their ways, slowly, without haste.

Building the game’s storyline is similar to The Witcher series of the same house or many other pure role-playing games; it is very focused on dialogue and sometimes makes players feel long, unwieldy necessary needs.

It has to be because 60% of the average task is just talking.

But for those who don’t feel “bored” with this formula, then they will “feel” all that Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer.

It was an extremely large-scale scenario spread throughout with many situations that came rushing in and arranged alternately.

Before entering the “long” action sequences, there are “slightly longer” breaks for the player to shape and find out what is going on; the amount of information such as the matrix can confuse players and disorient if they do not pay attention to the dialogue.

Cyberpunk 2077 brings a feeling similar to when enjoying the two Blade Runner movies – two works also set in Cyperpunk and the inspiration for CD Projekt RED to develop the game.

Those who are patient enough to follow and pay attention to each message what this movie brings, hidden behind the shape of long lines, will fully understand the good that the film brings.

Just imagine the content of Blade Runner is multiplied many times in length; we will have Cyberpunk 2077.

Pleasant for some people but attractive to others!

That is not “fast food”; this is for those who enjoy it slowly to feel all the spices.

CD Projekt RED is still a “cool” developer in building the script, setting, and characters and creating a very personal atmosphere.

The whole story in Cyberpunk 2077 will be complicated from the outside with too many conflicts, contradictions, and political stories.

But with a very CD Projekt RED formula, players, in turn, uncover the secrets of guy V, giant military corporations like Arasaka, Militech … and many other related characters.

It feels awkward to interact with the story without digging into each content branch that the game allows players to touch.

Each problem posed in the game is answered thoroughly and cleverly by sub-dialogues. Then, the other details are expanded; finally, we get a complete picture from the original to the end.

Unlike the choices where the outcome will mostly favor the player, like in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with Cyberpunk 2077, things will be different even if you choose and keep your opinion. No matter where I go, I’m not sure I can “drive” the storyline as I want.

Solving the task in the player’s head will have to change slightly from the original orientation.

Most commendable is that CD Projekt RED has created a scenario with many details beyond the player’s expectations; how in detail, please experience it yourself to get the best feeling!

Rest assured that the deeper you dive into the story of guy V, surprises will be indispensable, and the developer also knows how to use that surprise to push to the climax.

Each character is meticulously invested to really “live” in the cycle of Cyberpunk 2077.

You will easily recognize each person’s personality through their past, how they dress, and, of course, their actions, all of which happen in a very natural way, without bringing a ridiculous sense of coercion that a certain game has recently shown.

With Cyberpunk 2077, if the main quests have the effect of expanding V’s story to the surrounding world, the side quests that follow are a way for players to understand each companion character.

Even the artificial intelligence Delamain has its own set of tasks, to see that sometimes machines also have different emotions of love, anger, fear, and hate.

The feeling of dragging will linger a bit in these scenes; in return, the connection between the character lines becomes even more obvious. The player can understand and feel that these are “human beings” really living under the sky of Night City.

At E3 2019, the appearance of Keanu “John” Reeves created an emotional explosion for the audience; CD Projekt RED brought a huge surprise by bringing the actor who loves to play the roles name John to transform into a character named… John too, it’s Johnny Silverhand – a rock singer with a great hatred for the powerful Arasaka corporation.

Johnny’s cool looks and carefree demeanor are the biggest highlights of Cyberpunk 2077’s already impressive cast of characters.

Appearing in the form of only a memory domain in V’s head and the “collaboration” of these two characters is similar to the story in typical Buddy Cop movies in the style of “a situational couple.”

Johnny Silverhand is much more complicated than that; his violent past and transformation are separate colors from other characters.

On the surface, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world game with a modern setting and first-person perspective as a way to communicate with the world.

But going deep inside, Cyberpunk 2077 does a lot more than that.

It can be easily seen if The Witcher has three directions for players to choose from Swordsman, Mage, and Alchemy. In Cyberpunk 2077, we also have three almost similar but less obvious directions and are more interwoven: frontal attack, stealth, and hacking.

The skill branch used for direct attack is further divided into a long-range gun, shotgun, melee. To increase damage to the enemy and bring the best hand feeling.

With the nature of the role-playing game, the number of weapons reaching players’ hands is countless, from the most basic designs to unique items with separate functions.

In the space of gunfire, it can be said that Cyberpunk 2077 is a pretty “bloody” game when every shot leaves obvious wounds on the enemy.

As a matter of course, the more the weapon deals terrible damage, the more it’s fun to use.

Guns are powerful in blowing away enemies, while knives and swords can neatly take away different body parts.

Cyberpunk 2077 has no shortage of places to “check” weapons with gangsters, crime scenes … marked prominently on the map.

What a thoughtful developer!

The weapon that the writer is most impressed with is the Malorian Arms 3516 in the hands of Johnny Silverhand, appearing briefly in the flashback of the events of 2023.

Each weapon can be further upgraded to achieve more damage through the recipe for picking ingredients – crafting thick items with The Witcher’s breath, but in the early game, for some reason. What weapons are picked up is often stronger than what is available, so there is no need to worry about this feature!

Stealth is probably the way to bring the highest safety because inherently avoiding others’ sight is already the “superior” in many situations.

It is hard to say that the level in Cyberpunk 2077 is designed to serve the purpose of stealth comfortably and diversely. Still, it can be ignored for a while because CD Projekt RED also intentionally created a “separate path” for this direction and not so much pressure that you have to frown.

In the end, hacking is probably the coolest thing about it. Surprisingly, Cyberpunk 2077 is more complicated than Watch Dogs; at this point – a game that trumpets hacking as something powerful and then problem-solving with just one push of a button.

Hacking in Cyberpunk 2077 is almost like solving a puzzle, and as a result, you will create certain advantages at each level.

Maybe because nature is a bit complicated, it will be easy to ignore when the hack only creates an advantage, not directly defeating the enemy in large numbers, which can complement the two obvious directions above. Many people will not advocate using skill points in this direction.

In Cyberpunk 2077, in addition to the already familiar skill and item system of the role-playing genre, players are also introduced to a new system called Cyberware – roughly understood as a form of strengthening the body parts possible by installing additional machine components.

Each part is purchased for money and requires additional Street Cred stat obtained from completing various quests.

Cyberware gives players quite detailed replaceable parts and, from there, continues to complement the dense branching skill system, helping players create a character with unique and extremely difficult skills to “same.”

However, because the number of skill branches to upgrade is too large, combined with Cyberware will create a feeling of being a bit “suffocated” in terms of information, so it will take a little patience to use the points you get if you don’t want to be “misguided.”

As an open-world game with a large scale, CD Projekt RED does not hesitate to cover the map with many marked locations that by going there we will get quite a several attractive rewards to visit.

If you have money, you will spend money; the priority of most players will be weapons or vehicles because those are the most common things for an open-world game like this.

In addition, there is also a small amount of money for partying, drinking, and some “hard to say” things in red-light districts – a specialty of CD Projekt RED.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 a good game? The writer would like to confirm yes!

So does Cyberpunk 2077 reach perfection? Maybe not!

During the experience of this game, the writer still feels the feeling of “not yet” comes from many reasons, most of which are many details that CD Projekt RED or care has not arrived or have forgotten.

The first thing to mention is the city of Night City.

It is easy to come across many reactions in the sky and on earth that many tragic scenes will occur if you stop to observe.

If you stop in the middle of the freeway, the vehicles behind will stand still and would rather get stuck in traffic than pass through to continue.

If you block the car in front of pedestrians, they will turn their heads and go back to the old road until they disappear.

Indeed, the residents of Night City are still lacking a bit of “embarrassing” when full of extremely “dark” behavior despite wearing a lot of modern and advanced equipment.

Each NPC has only one way to react to the world, which creates an uncomfortable feeling every time the player wants to do something outside the safe “framework” that the game has created.

The writer often did not know whether to laugh or cry when civilians jumped straight into the front of the car and died, then the law enforcement force directly assigned the name of the felony and then fired in pursuit.

Speaking of police, this is also another “sad” story that Cyberpunk 2077 brings; in many public combat situations, they will suddenly appear from nowhere and overwhelm the number of paratroopers that before… no one was there.

Are the police in Cyberpunk 2077 equipped with teleportation technology?

However, just jumping closer to a certain place to have a dialogue to receive or perform a task, the police guys stood still and looked at the player with passionate eyes and then no more wanted.

Similarly, the enemies are equally erratic with many unannounced “apparating” phases.

Night City is a very massive and lively city, that’s true, but it’s only in the graphical shell that lies on the outside, and inside is still a place that creates a mechanical and lifeless feeling.

The next thing, Cyberpunk 2077, drops directly into the player’s face a lot of options, and they all have a certain weight when applied to missions.

Apart from a few “long-term” and small-scale quests, many of those choices only change the path to the final destination.

Understandably, you start from A and go to B, the choice will show you how to go to point B, but it is not possible to turn the ending point B into C.

That is quite a pity when CD Projekt RED itself has done so much better in its The Witcher series with content full of unpredictable turns…

Even choosing Life Path from the beginning of the game looks good, but only affects a few sentences that are “unlocked” depending on the situation, but does not make a clear impression when meeting people with special abilities common origin.

Not to mention rumors about cool features that the company has promised but have been cut from the official version.

The final question is, can Cyberpunk 2077 be more perfect?

Sure it does, and reports of employees being “missed deadlines” are very likely to be true.

PS4 and Xbox One versions can’t be played, the game crashes and splashes, as usual, Sony removes Cyberpunk 2077 from the Store, CD Projekt stock drops…

Recently, bad news like this around Cyberpunk 2077 appeared densely everywhere; the writer will not judge everything just by reading the news but want to experience it and conclude it by hand.

Disappointed!

A “powerful” machine that the writer uses to experience Cyberpunk 2077 is i9 9920x, 64GB RAM, RXT 2080 8GB still encounters many annoying frame fluctuations even though the setting is only at Ultra without Ray enabled Tracing on 1080p resolution.

At that time, the writer had to say, “Is this the truth?”

Going into the crowd – dropping frame rate, shooting each other up and down – dropping frame rate, driving too fast – falling again, watching the scenery also falling!

It’s an 8GB RTX 2080; the writer lowered it slightly with the RTX 2070 with the same VRAM capacity and at High with some Medium settings; the same situation still … happens, even when updating the driver for the driver VGA or even Even updates for Windows.

Of course, there will still be objections that it is possible to reduce the setting to make the experience smoother, well that is as obvious as when “you have to eat when you’re hungry”!

But also remember, the configuration at the recommended level of CD Projekt RED was initially only GTX 1060 6GB. That was no different from a direct slap in the player’s face.

Then there is the story of error; lightness is to change the surface texture from one item to another, heavier is to lose the surrounding scenery altogether, madder is to get stuck somewhere and Can’t do anything but restart the game.

What has been mentioned above is just the tip of the iceberg named “error” that the writer has encountered. The only problem with the game crashing is that luck has not been encountered until now.

A few days after the game’s release, CD Projekt RED has released a patch of 1.04, but there are still many thorny issues that have not been improved, and it will probably take a long time to fix completely.

For the writer, Cyberpunk 2077 is a product that took almost eight years to reach players, so suffering so many errors like this is not advisable and is best not allowed to happen.

All the goodwill that Cyberpunk 2077 created from the beginning, gradually destroyed by rampant technical errors, the value of this game should be in a much higher position than that and such a talented team. CD Projekt RED deserves more “sweet fruit” than the pain of fixing one error after another…
