EARFUN FREE 2S

Rate this post

Like Apple, when EarFun has a major upgrade, it will create a completely new product, but if it is just a small upgrade in some aspect, it will launch an “S” product. EarFun Free 2S is exactly this case, as it is a pair of small upgraded headphones from the previous product that was very well received by users, EarFun Free 2.

The Free 2S’s box still follows EarFun’s old motif, with 3 main colors: black, white and yellow.

In the box we have instructions for use, USB Type-C charging cord and up to 6 pairs of rubber cushions. EarFun’s accessories are always complete, making the headphones feel more premium than their price range.

The Free 2S’s charging box is no different from the previous version, opening vertically and being able to stand up thanks to the flat bottom.

The headphones can play music continuously for 7 hours and increase to 30 hours when used with the charging box, a good amount of time at the present time. This box, in addition to recharging using USB Type-C, can also be charged wirelessly using the Qi standard.

Looking online, I thought that the Free 2S would have an identical design to the previous version, but in hand we still see a slight difference.

The top is more rounded, with a glossy ring on the outside, while the old version was 100% matte. This change only has a small effect on the exterior design, but the wearing feeling is still comfortable and full of ears just like the old version.

Specifications such as the touch-sensitive exterior, Bluetooth 5.2 apt-X, IPX7 water resistance so it can be taken into water without damage and the gaming mode to reduce latency to 60ms are no different from EarFun Free 2. These are all features worth praising in a pair of TWS headphones priced at just under $70.

The most notable upgrade in the Free 2S that affects daily use is the addition of the EarFun App on smartphones. This application allows you to accurately monitor battery power, quickly turn Game Mode on and off, adjust sound quality with EQ, and adjust touch operation features.

Actually, this is not a brand new feature, because the EarFun App application has also been used for the Air Pro SV headphones. However, the fact that it is applied to a pair of cheap, introductory headphones like the Free 2S is commendable.

Having the same support parameters as the previous generation, Free 2S also possesses the same sound quality as the Free 2 version. This is a rich sound quality, with V-shape when pressing on the bass and treble but does not “forget” the mid completely so it can still play vocal music at a good level.

Just by playing a song with a lot of bass like We got work to do by the group Starkid, we can realize the very bold and heavy bass of this pair of headphones. The amount of bass is more than average, on a scale of 1 to 10 it will be about 7 to 7.5. This bass creates a vibrant atmosphere, but can still be interrupted at the right time so as not to drown out all the other sounds.

Mid will tend to move slightly backwards to create the V-Shape sound of the Free 2S. However, the low-mid part is thick and the V-Shape effect is not too heavy like some other pairs of headphones, so the singer’s voice is always clear and easy to hear. Tessa Violet’s voice in Crush is a bit dark compared to vocal headphones, but is still quite clean and has no major weaknesses.

Up to the treble, the volume is increased to complete the light V-Shape sound of the Free 2S. This type of sound will be very suitable for fast-paced EDM songs, creating dynamism and making you dance to the beat!

Small upgrade but still worth buying

Objectively evaluated, EarFun Free 2S is not a huge upgrade compared to the previous Free 2 version, with the most notable point being the presence of the EarFun application on smartphones. However, this continues to be a noteworthy pair of TWS headphones from this company, and also shows that EarFun is still looking for ways to upgrade, giving users a better experience no matter the price range.
