amazon GeForce GTX 660 reviews
In fact, with the GTX 660 and GTX 660 Ti, NVIDIA partners have launched a custom with a different original circuit board and radiator (REF). So here we just look at some details about the REF board design, rather than going into separate sections on the card. The two cards seen here are the REF of the GTX 660 and 660 Ti.
At first glance both cards look like two twins. Outer shell the same, the same length, the signal port the same. So if you do not mind, you might be mistaken. Need to know that despite the same, but their price difference of $ 70
So where to look to distinguish fast? Number of SLI slots. The GTX 660 only supports 2-way SLI, so there is only one plug. GTX 660 Ti, which is based on the GK104 chip, allows up to three cards to run at the same time, so it has two SLIs. This is the most obvious difference. The next difference is the number of PCIe auxiliary power outlets. The GTX 660 requires only one 6-pin PCIe and 660 Ti that requires two heads. This is true only for some GTX 660s. If the NSX card overclockers (OC) is available, it may need two heads to ensure stable operation.
Also smaller GK106 and “rectangular” than GK104 (square). But you can only know this after removing the card’s heat sink. So this is just extra information. The easiest way to identify is based on the number of SLI plugins.

Temperature, noise, power consumption
GK106 can be considered a good design of NVIDIA. At idle, it consumes the lowest power, just below the HD 7000 when idle for long periods of time due to AMD’s own technology. Even when running full load, it does not consume much power. This is partly due to the lowest transistors compared to the 28nm representations on the list.
However, the temperature may be a problem in the REF. NVIDIA seems to accept a quiet trade when the fan does not work much and therefore the heat does not escape much. Anyway, 70 ~ 80 degrees C is also an acceptable threshold for the desktop card so this is not a big problem.
Conclude
So the midrange gap of NVIDIA, finally got a worthy representative. The GTX 660 has the same performance as the HD 7870, which is quite competitive with the Radeon side. The only problem here is that, the GTX 660 has a better p / p ratio than the GTX 660 Ti, when performance is only ~ 15% lower but 30% cheaper. In a sense, investing in the GTX 660 will be more reasonable than the GTX 660 Ti. Of course, you can also invest in the HD 7870 because these two models have the same price in the same market segment.
