Design

The first thing to notice when you’re holding the HTC Desire 620G is the solid, comfortable 5-inch screen. Thanks to the design of curved bends the edges and angles are more rounded so there is no sense of uncomfortable. The sleek glossy back design of the Desire 620G makes the Test Lab reflect the style of the Apple iPhone 5C. However, this type of back is very easy to cling to dirt and fingerprints, especially for users has sweat hand.

Although made entirely of plastic, the machine looks quite solid and the contact points are very close. The back cover of the machine can be removed for memory and SIM card.

Dual-Color design with two stylized Desire 620G colors looks really nice and looks like the HTC Desire Eye. One point that Test Lab does not like on most HTC smartphones in general and the Desire 620G in particular is that the screen border is quite thick under the logo HTC occupied.

Microphone, headset, micro-USB, speaker phone, sensor position … on the machine are polished with high aesthetics. In general, with a smartphone in the midrange, Test Lab rated the Desire 620G as a good design, youthful and suitable for young users.

Screen

Test Lab found that the actual display quality from the 5-inch screen of the Desire 620G was not good. Although it supports HD resolution (1,280 by 720 pixels) with a pixel density of about 294ppi, the LCD screen of the machine is only good for use in shade or dark. The white and gray color of the Desire 620G screen is dominated by a lackluster visual display.

Test Lab also did not appreciate the brightness of the display in the bright outdoors because it was difficult to observe and manipulate, though it was adjusted to maximum brightness. Although limited in contrast, the viewing angle of the Desire 620G screen is quite good.

Camera

Need to assert now is the Desire 620G quality photos taken from the main camera integrated very well. With 8 megapixel resolution and support for images up to 3.264×2.448 maximum resolution compared to the high-end smartphone seems to be less edge but the quality is not inferior to the high resolution camera, Integrated with advanced lens technology.

Photos taken in bright enough conditions of the Desire 620G high-definition, beautiful colors, not so brilliant as pictures from the smartphone segment Samsung or LG, but very honest. The camera’s built-in camera application remains the default of Android 4.4.4 with a simple interface. Besides automatic image capture, the camera also supports fine-tune settings such as White Balance, Anti-flicker, self-timer, face detection, auto-smile detection, continuous shooting….

Test Lab appreciates Panorama and Panorama Contrast (HDR) images of the Desire 620G. Panorama image is quite sharp and the speed of grafting is relatively fast. HDR photography is very well suited for outdoor situations where it is difficult to take a clear picture with normal viewing.

Full HD video quality from the main camera of the Desire 620G is quite good in bright enough conditions, but the image starts blurring and blurring in low light and at night.

With a 5 megapixel front-facing camera, the quality of shots is good, with a wide angle of view for selfie shooting, so there’s nothing to complain about the performance and quality of shots compared to the price range. Like the HTC Desire Eye’s secondary camera, the Desire 620G’s secondary camera also exhibits a lot of noise when shoot under power light or under dark conditions.

Operating system and features

The HTC Desire 620G comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, with a customizable interface at the same level as other MediaTek smartphones. It also changed the entire set of application icons in the style of HTC, some applications such as Calendar, People or ToDo, HTC kept the same as the original Android, including the interface.

Unlike high-end smartphones, the Desire 620 comes with very few pre-installed applications and limited functionality. In addition to the fast news feed with BlinkFeed with a window at the main screen, Google suite of applications are installed. The phone also comes with Polaris Office 5 office suite, HTC Dot View for use with Dot View protection, Backup & Restore function. Like the HTC Desire 816, the machine is also equipped with a pretty function or automatically transfer the call to another phone number – Auto forward. Users simply select Turn on auto forward to activate and select Change Phone Number and enter the phone number to transfer is complete.

Performance and battery life

HTC Desire 620G is equipped with a SoC Mediatek MT6592 chip with a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU clocked at 1.7GHz and a Mali-450MP4 graphics core. It has 8GB of internal memory, supports up to 32GB microSD and 1GB of RAM. The overall performance of the machine is good when using most tasks. Particularly for heavy gaming such as Asphalt 8: Airbone, the machine has a slow startup speed, some scenes are jerky and sometimes sudden escape. However, overall the overall performance of the machine is good and meets the needs of normal use.

With benchmark performance benchmarking, the machine scored fairly well and surpassed other competitors in the Antutu test with scores of up to 32,371. The machine also has graphical performance scores with 3DMark and GeekBench multi-core processing.

On battery performance, the device is equipped with Li-Po battery capacity of 2,100 mAh for practical use with normal needs (check email, update Facebook, take pictures, listen & call) the machine also reached more than 1 day of use. Perhaps due to the poor screen quality, the actual battery life of the Desire 620G is higher than normal compared to the integrated battery capacity.
