The ID-Cooling SE-214X uses a vertical tower design – a rare sight in the $25 range. From $25 down the majority of lay designs, performance is much worse than stand tower.

Despite its cheap price, the SE-214X has a rather muscular, 159 mm height, meaning that the ultra-slim chests like Golden Field and CoolerPlus will not support it.

Good height but the width of the SE-214X is just as thin as the heat sink with segment.

According to ID-Cooling, the SE-214X is equipped with 4 6mm diameter heat pipes. However, one more tube was actually added, only half the length of the other tubes, but nickel plated.

Black mainstream cooling fan. In my opinion this is the most suitable color for heat dissipation, not dirty. The white or milk fan I used for about half a year is dull, looking very boring.

The fan is caught in the heatsink with a metal cradle rather than a rubber cowl, which is much more durable. Among the accessories included are two additional pillows for users to attach two fans or to reserve the case of a broken main ankle.

Removing the heat sink fan, I know it turns out four red pieces at the four corners of the fan are anti-vibration rubber cushions, anti-noisy.

The heat sink is made in the Direct Touch style, meaning that the heat pipes come in direct contact with the CPU.

The SE-214X looks good on the rig. The black-and-red gaming main should probably be more rational, but I only have a black-and-gold main so I should add it temporarily.

If you have the experience of heat dissipation, you probably already have experience with RAM. For the SE-214X, the heatsink is evenly spaced from the RAM slots area, without the need for air flow.

Configure the test

Motherboard: MSI Z97 Mpower

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K

Internal memory: 2 x 4 GB Panram Light Sword 2400

Hard Drive: Kingston HyperX 240 GB SSD

Source: 660W

Thermal Adhesive: Noctua NT-H1

Intel Core i7-4790K has a high operating frequency as high as 4.4 GHz, hot famous that many users have to panic, invest more heat dissipation immediately. For overclockers using Core i5 or Core i7, daily overclocking is typically 4.5 GHz.

Test results

In this section I will compare the performance of the SE-214X with the Stock Fan heatsink that comes with the Intel box and the Corsair H100i heatsink. Because the CPU is on loan, not stripped Fan so I replaced with Stock Fan of Core i5-3570K – also cores but thinner than the i7-4790K fan a little bit.

Noise level

ID-Cooling fans are available from 800 to 1800 rpm depending on temperature. The announced noise level ranges from 16.2 to 29.2 dB. Actual use, fan absolute silence even when running at top speed.
