Instructions for connecting Xbox controller to PC

Rate this post

Before connecting any controller to play a game, you must check whether the game supports console controller control or not. Usually, popular racing or role-playing games allow rotation of gameplay. I almost only use the controller to play FIFA on PC, the rest I still use the keyboard and mouse to play.

Connect your Xbox controller to your PC via a USB cable

You have to pay attention to this because different controller models will have different connection ports and usually when you buy the controller, there will be no cord included. Recent versions such as Elite Series 2 and Xbox Series X will have USB-C connectivity. Older Xbox One controllers often use the Micro-USB port.

Step 1: Plug the connection cable from the Xbox controller to the PC according to prescribed standards.

Step 2: Press the button with the Xbox icon on the handle to turn on the power.

Step 3: Once the computer has received the input signal from the controller, the Windows operating system will automatically download the Driver to be compatible with the controller.

After this process is completed. The “Device is ready” message will appear and then from then on, every time you connect to this PC, you just need to plug in and play.

Connect your Xbox controller to your PC via Bluetooth

To connect your Xbox controller to your computer via Bluetooth, you must check whether your controller supports Bluetooth or not. Like the type-C connection above, the Bluetooth standard usually only appears on new generations of controllers.

A small tip is that if the molded plastic design on the top spills over the Xbox icon button, it will be a non-Bluetooth version. The remaining recent versions with a seamless design will have built-in Bluetooth.

Step 1: Activate Bluetooth on your computer by accessing Bluetooth & other devices in Settings.

Step 2: Turn on the controller by pressing the Xbox icon button. When the power is on, hold the sync button above until the Xbox icon starts flashing.

Step 3: Access the “Add Bluetooth or other device” section on your computer and select the Bluetooth icon at the top.

Now a list of receiving devices will appear and after a few seconds you will see the Xbox controller, click on the icon, and wait for it to connect.

Above are two popular ways and are also the ways I often use to connect the Xbox controller to a laptop or desktop computer. Wishing you success and hours of fun gaming with this legendary controller.
