Based on the new Sandy Bridge line, the Intel Core i5-2500K processor with 4 cores has the same open multiplier, delivering high performance and overclocking capabilities.

The Intel Core i5-2500K processor has four real cores, and the K symbol at the bottom also indicates that the processor is open multiplier, allowing overclocking. Intel also improved the Intel Turbo Boost technology to 2.0 for better performance and, most significantly, the new Intel HD3000 graphics core.

The improvement in architecture compared to Clarkdale in the past was the Sandy Bridge graphics core was produced on the 32nm line, the same line with the CPU instead of 45nm as before.

Two CPU and GPU components in Sandy Bridge are in the same block.

This allows the two CPU and GPU components to be integrated together into a single chip rather than a separate one like Clarkdale, which also reduces the data exchange between the CPU and GPU, resulting in performance gains higher.

The Core i5-2500K also supports 1333MHz dual-channel DDR3 memory, 16-channel data exchange for 16x PCI Express slots (1 16x card or 2 8x cards). On the Core i5-2500K there are two bus routes: DMI for CPU and chipset; FDI for integrated graphics core. The new processor also uses the new socket 1155 standard on Intel 6 series motherboards (currently Intel P67 and H67).
