Design

When I picked up the Motorola Moto G, the first feeling is quite heavy machine (143 grams) and thick (11.6 mm) compared with the same-sized smartphone today. But the thickness and weight of the Moto G does not cause discomfort which brings a touch of stocky though it uses plastic materials.

The front of this phone has many features similar to the Nexus 4, is the most detailed in the rounded edges and the use of third-touch navigation keys (Back, Home, and the recent applications) in on the touch screen. The power and volume keys on the right edge neatly designed, quite polished and easy to press. External speakers are placed at the back, next to the camera. The back of the machine beveled, creating enough space for the speakerphone volume are unaffected when placed on flat surfaces such as table.

Overall, Motorola has worked hard in the design of Moto G, the product is considered a low-price, but still maintain the appearance of a relatively high-end products. Points of concern most restrictive in this phone that no external memory card slot.

Screen

Moto G Screen size 4.5 inches, a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 326 PPI. This is quite impressive screen, without the common problems on the screen of the cheap device as narrow viewing angle, low pixel density, low contrast and low brightness.

Moto G has better pixel density than the price range, or number of pixels of the iPhone 5 / 5s. Wide viewing angle of the screen, color changes only slightly when viewed from angles – these are important details for those who love to play the game to tilt screen as racing or racing boat. The maximum brightness on the display of the Moto G also was rated as good, we measured 445 cd / m2, the equivalent of the old high-end smartphones such as the Google Nexus 4, LG Optimus G and HTC One X. In contrast, the Moto G was much less than 3 machine above, but remained fairly when compared to the range smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Win, HTC Desire 500 or even Sony Xperia C.

The color temperature of the screen display Moto G looks a bit cold, more blue (the user can recognize when you open a photo or Web page has a white background Standard) but capable of displaying colors basic colors relatively accurate. When measured on the dedicated devices, color accuracy of Moto G have equivalent scores LG Optimus G and HTC One X, the products are good rated in quality color display.

Camera

Moto G has two cameras, 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera. The rear camera lens to f / 2.4, flash and ability to autofocus and HD video recording capability. The phone’s camera app is inherited from high-end machines Moto X, use gestures on the touchscreen scanner to open the set and zoom when shooting.

Scan hand on the screen from left to right then camera setup will open, allowing adjustment of the HDR mode selection, turn off tap to focus / exposure, flash, slow motion filming (slow – motion), shooting wide frames (panorama), location, aspect ratio (16: 9, 4MP photo and 4: 3, 5MP photos) and audio capture.

Overall, the Moto G camera app designed simple direction styled iPhone and Oppo. Motorola hide custom relating to quality such as ISO adjustment, white balance, exposure time … to apply automated mechanisms. In addition to the autofocus mechanism, you can auto-focus by moving the circle on the screen to point to focus.

Moto G’s shutter speed on longer than the current high-end machines, but not too slow, just the difference in the percentages seconds. It also supports capturing multiple photos at once by holding your finger on the screen until the stop, like on devices running iOS 7.

When shooting in outdoor environments, image colors, brightness, and less noise. When shooting indoors with lights, colors are still pretty fresh image, usually a bit lighter than the actual brightness and noise but at an acceptable level.

Software

Moto G’s interface looks simple, similar to the Nexus 4 and 5 using the original version of Android. Motorola just inserted to separate a few features such as Assist, Device ID, Moto Care (providing basic information guide on how to use the phone), Motorola Migrate (transfer data such as contacts, messages and old images from the old system to the Moto G) and the camera application as described above.

Assist is a feature that allows users to turn off the bells and possibly vibrating function of the phone when you’re in a meeting, driving or sleeping. Like iOS 7 on the iPhone, while Assist feature enabled, you can still set normally receive calls from some in the phonebook or the call number to 2 times within 5 minutes; or autoresponder with messages created alphabet (limited sample only 1 message) to the number of calls coming in at busy.

And Device ID is a service that allows users of the Motorola Moto G using your Google account in order to protect the phone in case of lost as to locate your phone, lock or delete data remotely via your phone Motorola’s website. This service also allows you to order via the Web (Motorola website) to your phone rings, or display a message on the screen asking the steal / return the machine picked up.

In addition to camera app has a new interface and a number of individual features mentioned above, may be considered Moto G Nexus version produced by Motorola, also using original Android operating system with a simple interface and possible future software updates will be faster.

Performance and battery life

The heart of the system Moto G is Snapdragon 400 MSM8226 processor with 4 cores Cortex-A7 1.2GHz and Adreno 305 graphics core speed of 450MHz with 1GB of RAM. Compared with the price range of the machine, this is an impressive configuration is equivalent to the smartphone same price range

In actual use, the Moto G satisfy the work we use such as web surfing on your phone, on Facebook, check emails … This phone is also good handle Full-HD and the graphics in the game moderate. When playing games like Asphalt 8 graphics heavy, Moto G run was pretty good but not smooth like the HTC One or advanced machine Xperia Z1.

Despite thick body but also the phenomenon Moto G was warm after surfing or gaming after about half an hour. However, the degree of warm-up not to the discomfort, even when using the machine continuously for a longer time.

About time battery, 2070 mAh battery gives time using quite inadequate, marginally better than the HTC Desire 500 but less other machines as HTC One X and Optimus G, the product is priced Proximity Moto G. machines 4 hours 11 mins watch continuous full HD movie from the moment when the conditions are 10% off connection (3G / Wi-Fi), volume and brightness set at 70%. In assessing the possibility of gaming emulator screen brightness conditions and highest frame rate 60fps on GLBenchmark 2.5.1 software, the machine is 3 hours 16 minutes to run from full until 10% Pin.

Conclude

Moto G is quite comprehensive smartphone, especially when compared to the price of the product. Machine design is easy to handle, stable form; screen resolution, brightness and good quality color display; performance meet on the phone activities, including heavy gaming; Software updates fast and easy to use interface of the original Android version.

The most significant drawback of this phone is the lack of memory card slot, a major problem with the 8GB version and camera shots despite good but the focusing speed is slow, making pictures easy to lose focus during shooting.
