amazon Ninja Air Fryer reviews

The Ninja Air Fryer (AF101 / AF100UK) is a great kitchen appliance for producing crisps and chicken wings and is a healthier option as it uses significantly less oil than deep frying.

Air fryers are now a popular kitchen appliance thanks to their ability to produce low-fat fries, but the Ninja AF101 – also known as the Ninja AF100UK in the UK – have proven they can do more. This is the brand’s entry-level air fryer but its price tag means it’s in the mid-range of the market. It has a capacity of 3.8 liters / 4 liters, according to Ninja, “enough for 900g / 2lb of fries,” and in addition to air frying, the device can also be used to bake, reheat, and dehydrate foods.

Like all air fryers, the Ninja AF101 uses quite a bit less oil than traditional deep-frying Ninja claims it requires 75% less oil, making it a healthier way to enjoy Enjoy delicacies like french fries and chicken wings. Food is cooked in a frying basket with holes in the bottom to circulate hot air around the food.

Ninja AF101 has four presets that control different cooking functions, each with default cooking time and temperature, but these settings can be adjusted to meet your needs using the touch control on a 3.4cm / 1.26-inch screen.

For small households who are looking for a healthier way to enjoy fries, chicken wings, and other delicacies and don’t have a lot of counter space, the Ninja AF100UK is a great device.

There are several considerations to make before purchasing an air fryer, and they ultimately determine if you’re getting true value for money. Usually, you need to consider the capacity (if it’s too small, the air can’t circulate properly), how easy it is to clean (if it’s dishwasher safe so you can get rid of all that grease), and the range of functionality it provides.

Luckily, the Ninja AF101 / AF100UK air fryer does all of those things well, with a 3.8-liter non-stick basket that can hold 900g of fries (enough for six medium servings or four servings of delicious fries), it has a completely dishwasher-safe drawer and four settings that can be adjusted according to time and temperature. It is the dehydrating function that sets it apart from most, they are only designed for frying at temperatures between 160-200°C, which means they lack the low-temperature range for drying food.

In terms of price, the Ninja Air Fryer costs quite a bit less, such as the Vitamix 5200 or the cheapest Philips Airfryer blender, which only has a capacity of 800g. If you don’t mind spending a little extra on an air fryer to get the most out of it, the Philips Airfryer XXL and Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro are great options. However, for most households, the Ninja Air Fryer AF101 can meet your usual frying needs.

Design

The Ninja Air Fryer AF101 is round in shape and comes with a dishwasher-safe frying basket and frying plate. This is one of the more compact air fryers we’ve reviewed, measuring 36 x 25 x 23cm / 13.6 x 11 x 13.3 inches (D x W x H), but at 3 0.8 liters / 4 liters, it has a lower capacity than most air fryers on the market. In addition to air frying, it can also bake, reheat, and even dehydrate, making it as versatile as many of the best air fryers you can find out there.

In terms of looks, the AF100UK has a sleek gray exterior, which you can wipe clean with a damp cloth, and a 4cm/1.26-inch LED display that shows the selected temperature and remaining cooking time. As we mentioned, it comes with four presets that trigger different cooking functions, each with a default cooking temperature and time. Additionally, both temperature and time can be adjusted manually using the buttons on either side of the display.

The Ninja Air Fryer can cook for up to an hour at a time and reaches a maximum temperature of 210C / 410 F. Also included in the package is a recipe booklet that provides the recommended cooking time, temperature, and oil quantity produced for different foods.

Efficiency

The Ninja Air Fryer excels at crunching food: anything from french fries to chicken wings, it’s all well cooked to a satisfying crunch. However, while it is claimed that the air fryer does not need oil to cook your food in the Ninja AF101, the truth is that you will need some oil in the air fryer to get it to taste good. Even chicken wings, which can be cooked in other air fryers like the Instant Vortex Plus without any oil, will require at least a tablespoon in the Ninja Air Fryer.

The guidebook recommends 1 tablespoon of oil for a 500g/1.1lb batch of chicken wings to 3 tablespoons for the same amount of fries. Inside, a removable porcelain-covered deep-frying plate elevates the food so excess fat can drain when frying. That way, Ninja estimates that the Air Fryer can cook your fries using up to 75% less fat than traditional hand-cut French fries.

Ninja Air Fryer produces french fries – both homemade and frozen – fluffy with soft potatoes inside a crispy crust, however, the chicken wings have this extremely crispy skin, but the meat is not as tender and moist as when cooked on the rival air fryer. The temperature suggestions in the manual are quite comprehensive, so you don’t need to adjust any settings – the results will be consistent no matter what you cook.

The AF100UK cooks well as soon as it starts up but requires three minutes of preheating before use, but it doesn’t have a dedicated setting for this – you need to add three minutes to the timer instead, while Other air fryers will heat up instantly. Also disappointing is that Ninja doesn’t include a prompt to flip or shake the food during cooking to ensure that all dishes are golden brown; However, Ninja AF101 has audible and visual warnings after cooking is complete.

It also has a vent at the top to let hot air out, instead of pushing it out of the back of the unit like many other air fryers. This is quite impressive as it means you don’t need too much space around the machine. During cooking, the Ninja Air Fryer runs at about 60db, just about the noise the dishwasher makes mid-cycle. Well, it’s not the noisiest airplane we’ve tested, nor is it the quietest; However, the fryer can only be heard during cooking time.

Another handy feature of the Ninja AF101 is that in addition to the ability to dehydrate meat and fish into a dry form, the option of a higher temperature after drying means you can pasteurize with the same device.

Finally, Ninja AF100UK cleaning and maintenance need to be done after each use, but as the drying pan and dish are both dishwasher safe, this may take a few seconds. Even hand washing is quite easy, the removable parts are ceramic coated, so food just slides out.
