Nvidia GTX 1080
Despite the limited operating temperature as well as noise, the Nvidia-designed reference always received a lot of attention due to the classic design never tired of the eye. Besides, they are also easier to dissipation of water than the custom PC players extremely favored.
Power saving is one of the advantages of the 1000 series. The GTX 1080 requires only 8 auxiliary batteries, less than the predecessor dinosaurs of a 6-pin source, which means lower power consumption. 75W.
The card has three DisplayPort ports, one HDMI port and one DVI port, supporting a 4K resolution screen.
With the latest generation GTX 10 of Pascal’s platform, there are a number of limitations associated with running multiple VGAs simultaneously. Specifically, the new SLI mode will be difficult for those who want to install 3 to 4 GTX 1080 on their machine. Currently, only a small number of games and applications support SLI 3 & 4-way through the HB SLI bridge.
GP104 GPUs are produced on a 16-nm process, so that power consumption is greatly reduced, as does the size of the GPUs that are reduced by nearly half. The GTX 1080 is the first graphics card to use GDDR5X memory technology, which doubles the bandwidth of traditional GDDR5 memory. However, the memory bandwidth of the GPU is cut to 256 bits (compared to 384 bits of the GTX 980 Ti). So the bandwidth of the GTX 1080 is even lower than predecessor, so we can not help but think of bandwidth congestion.
Asus GTX 1080 Strix
Unlike in previous years, just days after Nvidia officially sold the GTX 1080, partners such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI … immediately introduced their own custom heat dissipation.
The GTX 1080 Strix is a complete radiator remover, equipped with up to three fans to completely overcome the temperature disadvantages of Nvidia reference version.
Asus is very bold when designing the heatsink thickness for only two PCI slots, while the GP104 GPU heat and GPU emissions are not small.
The dorsal side of the card is fitted with a very nice back-plate that is both curved, heat-resistant to the back component of the product.
This custom version of Asus has extra an 6 pin, which provides more power to overclock stability.
The GTX 1080 Strix is overclocked 11% higher than the Nvidia standard. However, memory pulses remain the same.

Test results
Performance summary:
In the fast test at Full HD resolution, the average performance of the GTX 1080 is about 15% more than the GTX 980 Ti. Progressing to a resolution of 1440p (2.5x more pixels), this number increased to 28% – that is, nearly double. This shows that bottlenecks have occurred at Full HD resolution, even though our test configuration runs on a Core i5-6600K 4.6 GHz. The GTX 1080 was born not for screens under 27 inches.
Also, look at the score of the Asus Strix overclocked 11% but the power only increased by 4%. It seems the impulse for the GTX 1080 does not make much sense.
Conclude
Stronger than 28% to the GTX 980 Ti on the 2K screen – this is an impressive result, especially when the GTX 1080 is not the flagship of the 1000 series. Performance of the GTX 1080Ti and GTX Titan is really desirable.
The GTX 1080 is an impressive opening shot for the GTX 1000 series – a generation we are expecting to bring with it a performance leap in addition to low power consumption. Compared to the current pricing, the GTX 1080 is 18% more expensive than the GTX 980 Ti and 28% more powerful (the reference) – meaning that p / p is pretty good.
Pros:
– Stronger than the previous generation flagship nearly 30%.
– Lower power consumption.
Cons:
– Limitations when running SLI 3 -4 GTX 1080 at the same time
– Overclocking efficiency does not increase much.
