At the OnePlus nine series trio launch event held in March, OnePlus officially introduced its first smartwatch called OnePlus Watch. The OnePlus Watch has a relatively popular design, uses a characteristic round watch face, and has a quite affordable price, from only $159, in the mid-range segment.

OnePlus Watch has a typical OnePlus-style packaging: a red and long-sized case.
Accessories inside only include a single magnetic charging dock.
The OnePlus Watch, the first smartwatch under the OnePlus brand, is one of the smart product lines that technology users have been waiting for in recent times.

OnePlus Watch has three main versions: black, white, and a special limited edition material finished from cobalt alloy on the bezel looks quite luxurious.
The standard version as we have on hand uses a glossy stainless steel bezel. The right side includes two buttons: the main menu trigger button and the quick training mode button, in which the menu button is engraved with the unique embossed “OnePlus” logo.

The product uses a rubber strap with the same design and wearing as the Apple Watch, which is quite easy to wear and suitable for many people.
OnePlus Watch is equipped with a 1.39-inch OLED screen. According to some sources, this screen is protected by sapphire glass; however, it seems that only the Limited Edition version with cobalt bezel will have the screen protected by sapphire glass. OnePlus Watch only has a single 46mm option, so it will not suit female users and users with small wrists.

The screen border of the OnePlus Watch looks quite thick if the wallpaper is set as light as shown. However, in return, the display quality of this screen is relatively good, with a resolution of 454 x 454, a pixel density of 326 PPI, a brightness of 440 nits, not too bright but still enough to display clearly in bright light. It is a pity that this screen does not support the Tap to Wake feature (touch to wake up the screen) but only Lift to Wake (raise your hand to light the screen). In addition, the OnePlus Watch also does not Always support Display mode (the screen is always on) despite using an OLED screen.

As the first Watch launched by OnePlus, the OnePlus Watch doesn’t have too many watch faces. Users can set up the watch face through the HeyTap Health app (login with OPPO’s HeyTap account). According to our experience, only the Chinese domestic version of HeyTap Health can be connected to the OnePlus Watch.
Users can download the APK file of the HeyTap Health app from the Watch’s pairing screen. Currently, the OnePlus Watch does not support connecting with iPhone.

The bottom of the OnePlus Watch is where the sensors are located, including a heart rate sensor, a sensor that measures SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation), and a contact pin for charging.
Like other smartwatch models on the market, the OnePlus Watch can monitor heart rate continuously and in real-time and calculate heart rate to assess sleep quality.

One of the popular trends of this year is the SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation) measurement mode that has also appeared on the OnePlus Watch. That is a relatively important health indicator used to assess the health status of users. According to experts, the SpO2 index at 97% – 99% indicates normal health; 94 – 96% is an average index, need to breathe more oxygen; 90% – 93% is a low level of oxygen in the blood, need to consult a doctor, and less than 90% is an urgent emergency.

OnePlus Watch supports more than 110 different exercise modes (according to the manufacturer announced), but currently, only about 14 modes are integrated. Maybe shortly, OnePlus will add new modes through a software update.

OnePlus Watch does not use Google’s WearOS operating system; instead, the Watch uses a platform similar to RTOS, an operating system with enough smart features, smooth, light, and especially for the duration battery lasts up to 2 weeks. The disadvantage of this platform is that it does not support 3rd party applications but only encapsulates available features/applications installed by the manufacturer.

OnePlus Watch gives about 12-14 days of battery life thanks to its 402mAh battery. With more “hardcore” tasks, measuring heart rate, continuous SpO2, the product can last about ten days. The relatively good battery life for a smartwatch is much more than the Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch series, or other WearOS-powered watches. OnePlus Watch also supports fast charging with 50% battery in just 30 minutes of charging.

In addition, the OnePlus Watch also supports IP68 water/dust resistance.
In general, the OnePlus Watch follows a fairly common trend of smartwatch models from China today: Universal design, running its operating system for longer battery life, fully supporting the necessary features of the smartphone, but the downside is that users will not be able to use 3rd party applications, especially the Strava service application if there is a need.

OnePlus Watch does a good job of a basic smartwatch, but with higher needs, specialized in sports training with 3rd party support capabilities, the product cannot meet it. In addition, the OnePlus Watch also has some minor disadvantages, such as the screen does not support AoD or Tap to Wake, the brightness is not high, the connection is relatively cumbersome does not support iOS.
