DESIGN AND FINISHING OF QDC NEPTUNE
qdc is a headphone company with plenty of experience in manufacturing Custom headphones. Therefore, the housing part of qdc Neptune has a Semi-Custom design with strong curves in compliance with the common ear mold. According to the manufacturer, in order to create the final housing shape, qdc had to process the sample data of thousands of customers to come up with the optimal size.
The housing part is made from high-quality acrylic resin for excellent transparency. There was no air bubble inside. The surface of the housing is cleanly and meticulously polished by hand.
The faceplate is made seamlessly just like the Custom headphones. You can see the inner chamber is emptied and is installed with only one BA driver of qdc Neptune. This is a full-range BA driver like the structure of Etymotics.
The wires from the connector to the driver use high-grade silver-plated copper conductors and are neatly organized. These small details show a high level of finishing and manufacturing of qdc.
The default conductor that comes with qdc Neptune uses OFC copper. The 4-core twisted conductor helps eliminate microphonic phenomena and increases the durability and aesthetics of the wire. Above the conductor is a microphone and a volume control unit. In my opinion, the wire is of high quality. The details of jacks, junction lines, control keys all use metal materials that are processed with high precision. The plastic parts are also handled well, there is no excess plastic. The earhook part on the wire does not have metal wire, this is my favorite detail on the wires of qdc. No bending, the earhook is pre-shaped with a soft plastic frame for a comfortable wearing feel and conventional use.
A note for anyone who intends to upgrade the wires of qdc Neptune. While they still use the 2-pin 0.78mm standard of conventional IEM headphones, the electrode on all qdc headsets will be opposite to those traditional ones. You should keep this in mind when using third-party wires with qdc Neptune.
EXPERIENCE AND SOUND QUALITY
qdc Neptune offers the best wearing experience among the 5 million VND earphones. It feels like you’re wearing a custom headset. When choosing the right eartips, qdc Neptune will fit snugly against your ear. This makes the soundproofing ability of this headset to be excellent.
qdc Neptune is not a source-picky headset. The reference sensitivity is 104dB SPL / mW and the measuring impedance is only 10 Ohm but it is clear that qdc Neptune performs better when powered by a good source.

The overall sound quality of qdc Neptune is gentle, smooth, and sentimental. The soundstage is a bit lacking in depth and the treble does not go up high are the disadvantages that many people will agree with me about qdc Neptune.
Bass
If you are expecting a powerful bass strip on a BA driver, I think you can stop reading this article. The bass range on qdc Neptune is quite flat, focusing mainly on mid-bass. The lack of power of the sub-bass makes qdc Neptune’s overall bass not very full. In return, the mid-bass is considered fast and neat. The transition from the upper-bass to the low-mid is also very smooth.
Mid
This is the most valuable sound band on qdc Neptune in my opinion. The vocal on qdc Neptune is warm, has a moderate thickness but also smooth and sweet. Since there is little emphasis on the high midsection, the female voice will be better expressed. The high notes would soar and shriveled but with absolutely no sibilant. qdc Neptune has handled this element extremely well, making every song smooth as silk, without any grit.
The instruments also perform well but the minor details are not the strength of qdc Neptune. The timbre of the instrument is shown fairly realistic. If you want a good pair of headphones in this price range, then the Shozy BG in my opinion is a better option.
Treble
Smooth, well-controlled, and tinkling. A gentle emphasis on the low-mid allows the instruments like cymbal or hi-hat feel more crispy, soft, and funnier for the ear. However, the treble being roll-off early at about 8kHz should make treble strip not very airy. This might be a con for some people but as I see it, qdc deliberately tunes this style to bring the most comfortable feeling to the majority of people who are sensitive to this sound range.
Soundstage
The width of the soundstage is average while the depth is below it. The reason is that the qdc Neptune’s sub-bass lacks power and the treble is rolled off early. However, you shouldn’t worry since the qdc Neptune is not born to try to create a grandiose stage. The stage space created by qdc Neptune is like a small, noisy theater. The instrument is quite well layered and precisely arranged in space.
CONCLUDE
qdc Neptune is clearly an extremely reasonable option in the price range of 5 million VND. Finished on the same level as the hi-end headphones, the sound quality is harmonious, rich with sweet mid-range. This headset won’t be for everyone but I believe perfectionists like me will certainly fall in love with it.
