amazon REALME 7I reviews
There is not too much to say about the design of the Realme 7i, as it shares many similarities with the two seniors Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro, as well as the general design trend of almost the entire mobile industry: opaque screen hole and camera “induction cooker.”
Even so, the Realme 7i still has some of its features, reflected in the glossy back. While the Realme 7/Realme 7 Pro has a cutout in the camera cluster running along the body, evoking the design of a compact camera, the Realme 7i is a diagonal cut in the fingerprint sensor, 3/4 of the lower body area feels made slightly rough but actually still glossy and significantly fingerprints.
The review version of BiaReview has a color called “Aurora Green” by Realme, which is mainly emerald green, but it turns silver gray when viewed from different angles. With this price range, of course, the back and frame of the device are made of plastic, but the Realme 7i feels solid, not creaky.
The main camera cluster on Realme 7i and senior Realme 7 is almost identical in terms of basic specifications, including a 64MP main lens with F / 1.8 aperture, 8MP wide-angle camera for a 119-degree viewing angle, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth-of-field black-and-white camera. However, the 64MP main sensor of the Realme 7i is a Samsung sensor, not a Sony IMX 682 like on the Realme 7/7 Pro.
Realme 7i chooses the traditional approach with a fingerprint sensor on the back instead of integrating it into the power button, possibly as a way to reduce costs. The speed and recognition ability of this sensor is no problem. The position is a bit high and too close to the camera cluster, making a person with large hands like me often mistakenly touch the camera cluster, making it even more difficult to happen if you use the case that came with the camera device.
Realme 7i carries the familiar punch-hole screen design; the “chin” is thick while the other three sides are quite thin, the screen/body ratio reaches 82.3%. The IPS LCD panel makes the screen around the hole darker, most visible when displaying white background content. That is also where the 16MP selfie camera is located, using the Sony IMX471 sensor. Protecting the screen is Gorilla Glass 3.
Surrounding the screen of Realme 7i is a layer of the black plastic border, this time not as high as previous Realme smartphones, but not close to the chassis and edge of the screen; when swiping, you can feel the “sharpness” of the plastic rim.
8.9mm thick and weighing 188g, it is hard to say that the Realme 7i is a thin and light smartphone, but in return, it has a battery capacity of up to 5,000 mAh, a trade-off that many people will agree. The sim tray contains two nano sims with a separate memory card slot if the user needs to expand the storage memory.
Regarding connectivity, Realme 7i still has a full 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C connection port, and speaker range. Although there is no IP water/dust resistance certification, Realme says that the Realme 7i is “light water-resistant,” possibly splash-resistant.

HD+ display with a high refresh rate 90Hz
Realme 7i and Realme 7 are two of the few smartphones in the price range equipped with a 90Hz high refresh rate screen. That is a trend that more and more manufacturers (except Apple and iPhone). When scrolling, swiping between system interface pages, or surfing the web, Facebook becomes smoother.
Realme 7i owns a 6.5-inch screen with a 20:9 ratio in terms of configuration, but the resolution only stops at HD + (720 x 1600 pixels). The difference between HD + and Full HD + resolutions will be very obvious at this screen size when the details and icons are not as sharp. That will be the first point to consider if you are wondering between Realme 7 and Realme 7i.
In actual use, the 90Hz refresh rate of the Realme 7i in most cases gives a smooth experience, sometimes there are jerks, like when playing games with fps drops, but the rate of occurrence is very low and quickly returns. 90Hz level. The colors displayed by default follow the pale trend, close to reality; the settings only have a color gamut slider from cool to warm, no color presets are available.
The quality of the Realme 7i’s speakerphone is at a sufficient level, with no outstanding features. The maximum volume is a bit smaller than I expected; maybe Realme does to limit the timidity. The sound quality is bright but lacks bass, a common feature of many smartphones on the market.
Camera: super wide-angle camera and an impressive selfie
Four rear cameras are the “minimum” on the smartphone market today, and it seems that manufacturers will do everything to achieve that number. Realme 7i can be considered a good example; besides the 64MP main camera, we have an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP black and white camera that measures the depth of field to support font removal. While the main camera will shoulder most of the responsibilities when taking everyday photos and the ultra-wide-angle camera supports shooting in some spaces, the macro camera is not practical.
Bright enough, the Realme 7i gives a fresh, detailed image, but it feels like the image is slightly thorny at the edge due to the sharp sharpness algorithm. Cool colors like the blue of the sky and leaves are accurately represented and pleasing to the eye, but warm colors are pushed to high saturation leading to loss of detail. Low-light photos have little noise but dark and less detailed. However, the Night Mode night mode has significantly improved, making the image brighter and richer in detail.
The wide-angle camera of the Realme 7i is better than my initial expectations. The contrast range is narrower than that of the main camera; the colors are still reproduced, almost similar to the main camera.
With a resolution of only 2MP, the macro camera of the Realme 7i is just fun because its definition is not high, the focus distance is far (4cm), and there is no autofocus.
Selfie and font removal of Realme smartphones are still points that I think virtual believers will appreciate. Beauty features for smooth and glowing skin. You should pay attention to customize the beauty level to match your actual facial skin so that the subject looks natural. With photos with background removal, the background is smoothed to look natural, not smeared or smudged on the subject, but the separation needs to be more prominent. Since the day I took the photo, it was sunny; the selfie camera of the Realme 7i accepted a light background tire to keep the subject bright; I would like the photo to be a little darker but retain a lot of details for post-processing.
Performance: “wonderful” amount of RAM
Realme 7i is equipped with a Snapdragon 662 chip manufactured on 11nm process, a chip in the low end of the mid-range with moderate performance.
Even with a flagship device, 8GB of RAM is still too abundant for the needs of the vast majority of users, let alone mid-range devices like the Realme 7i. More RAM will indeed give a better multitasking experience, but it will also increase the price. So I think 4GB or 6GB RAM level would be more reasonable.
With Snapdragon 662 chip, performance will not be the strong point of Realme 7i when the phone mainly meets basic needs such as surfing the web, Facebook, and playing games at moderate graphics settings.
Like every other Realme smartphone this year, Realme 7i comes pre-installed with Android 10, Realme UI interface. From advantages such as clean interface, full features such as dark background mode, edge swipe gestures to disadvantages such as pre-installed “bloatware” Tik Tok, Facebook, … Realme 7i is no exception.
Long battery life thanks to 5,000 mAh battery and HD+ display
The HD + screen may not be as sharp as Full HD +, but the usage time will be significantly improved in return. Realme 7i all have good results in the familiar tests of BiaReview, and the duration of mixed-use with average frequency can be up to nearly two days.
Included with the device is an 18W fast charger. The time to fully charge the battery from 0% takes quite a long time, about 2 hours and 30 minutes, but considering that you have to charge it every two days, it’s not a big deal (at least, Realme also comes with a fast charger.)
Summary
Realme 7i is a mid-range smartphone with advantages such as a 90Hz refresh rate screen, long battery life, abundant RAM, good camera, and the limitation of HD + resolution and a processor that is not too strong in the price range.
But a bigger problem of Realme 7i is that the price is already close to the elder Realme 7; the product has obvious advantages such as Full HD + screen, Mediatek G95 processor chip, 33W fast charging, and also has a frequency 90Hz high scan. Therefore, many people will consider accepting a price difference of about $30 to upgrade to the elder Realme 7 product.
