II/ UNBOX – EXTERNAL OVERVIEW

The first impressive case from the box: the eye-catching red-and-black tone is quite similar to the company’s new mainboard boxes, and the relatively heavy weight gives the feeling that will be a product very high end.

Behind the paper cover of the ASUS ROG Strix Helios RGB when pulled out, the first impression is a rather large wire, probably running around the top of the case. This must be the handle that according to ASUS’s advertisement is suitable for transportation during LAN tournaments. From a personal user point of view, I don’t care much about the advertised ASUS feature but see more here a uniqueness in the design of the fabric handle + familiar motifs on the Strix embroidered product lines on the wire.

The level of finishing is very high, the plastic parts on the I/O front panel in contact with the aluminum frame have no burrs or looseness, but match quite perfectly.

The aluminum frame is scratched vertically and the glass is thick and sturdy, which explains why the weight of the case is not light.

2 front and rear glass panels use latches, not screws, on the glass 2 metal retaining plates are reinforced at the top and bottom.

III/ DETAILED ASSESSMENT INSIDE

The interior of the ASUS ROG Strix Helios RGB is quite spacious for a mid-tower standard case, ready for water cooling systems to provide good heat dissipation performance. Especially the versatile cover covers the 24-pin power cord attached to the stand for large, long, lean VGAs. The case supports the installation of ATX-sized mains – for the E-ATX size main line, we will have to remove the cover of the 24-pin power cord to gain more space. The basic front-facing wiring holes are similar to most high-end models today.

In the middle of the case, there is a large hole at the corner to easily replace the CPU heatsink and install the backplate of thick heatsinks.

The front of the case supports radiators up to 420mm, the top is 360mm and the rear is 140mm. The fan + power mounting brackets are removable for convenient installation.

Included in the case are 4 black 140mm fans with a speed of 1400rmp.

The VGA slot is arranged in both vertical or horizontal orientation – the expansion slot includes 8 horizontal slots and 2 slots that support VGA vertical to be able to show all the beauty or pitfalls of the graphics card.

2-piece power cover, exposed design to show power, especially suitable for Thor series of power sources with custom OLED screens.

The rear wire cover in the design is just enough opacity to show the neat wiring of the installer.

The hard drive slot includes 2 3.5 / 2.5 trays and 4 rear 2.5 trays. Of course, most cases with front glass do not support mounting the drive.
