amazon Samsung Galaxy A30s reviews

Just like the A50s, the Galaxy A30s is ‘put on a new outfit’, with a single-colored back but with cut lines to create accents. Some are somewhat matte, some are glossy, with the glossy can also change color when exposed to the sun or strong light sources. The type of plastic used by the company is quite clingy, does not feel slippery so it feels very ‘confident’ when used.

This back has no fingerprint sensor anymore (why you will understand in a little while), but only 3 camera clusters. This cluster of cameras has increased in both quality and quantity, including a 25MP main camera (up from 16MP), an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera (increased by 3MP) and an additional sensor for depth measurement.

Recently Samsung has adjusted the image algorithm, so photos taken from Galaxy A30s are no longer too bright, too dark in all colors, so it feels more pleasing to the eye. Sometimes the image will still turn blue, but I can still use post-production software to adjust it easily.

Wide-angle camera of the old generation machine, so the sharpness as well as the ability to handle the light strip (DR) is less than 1 step lower than those applied to high-end models such as Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy Note 10. Galaxy A30s There is also no zoom camera (telephoto), so every time you have to shoot away you will have to zoom from the main sensor, so that reduces image quality. But both the telephoto and the zoom images are good enough for web posting, and you shouldn’t demand too much of a mid-range model.

The ports have no changes compared to the Samsung Galaxy A30, including the USB Type-C port that supports 15W and 3.5mm charging. Samsung has currently developed 25W and even 40W charging standards, so 15W in these mid-range products is no longer called ‘fast’ anymore, but also useful in times of low battery, which You need to use now.

Flip the front, we find a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, with all the advantages that this type of screen brings: deep black because it is possible to turn off some of the pixels, the richer color is worth it counting compared to LCD. The panel used by the A30s is also much better in color than the competitors of the same price (often prone to a lot of blue).

The screen has an Infinity-U cut to place the 16MP f / 2.0 selfie camera, which makes it very close to the top bezel. In contrast, the machine still has a little ‘chin’ on the bottom edge, but I still think this is a clean front, along with the addition of the bottom edge also helps swipe navigation gestures on OneUI become comfortable.

The reason why the A30s does not have a fingerprint sensor on the back like the previous A30 product is that this component has been brought down below the screen. This is the same sensor applied to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and Samsung Galaxy A50s, giving a much faster and more accurate reading speed than the older generation used in the Samsung Galaxy A50.

The panel used on the Galaxy A30s only has 720p resolution (720 x 1560). This is a confusing decision for Samsung, when its predecessor A30 has an AMOLED FullHD + screen (1080 x 2340)!

For those who have never used a high-resolution screen, it will surely get used to the Galaxy A30s after a period of use. But those who have been ‘touching’ a smartphone with FullHD resolution or higher, they will immediately see this screen is ‘aliasing’, if approached, they can even see each pixel. To make things worse when the AMOLED panel is due to the arrangement of the pixels, it always feels like the resolution is lower than the LCD, so the 720p on AMOLED looks more ‘aliasing’ than 720p LCD.

Configuration also does not continue to be the bright spot of the Galaxy A30s. It is equipped with Exynos 7904 processor (14nm process) manufactured by Samsung itself, supported by 3 / 4GB of RAM and 32 / 64GB of internal memory. This configuration is ‘borrowed’ entirely from the Galaxy A30, and in my opinion belongs to a lower level when compared to other mid-range models.

The performance score of Exynos 7904 is lower than that of Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, an old mid-range chip used by many other brands of the device. This means that the Galaxy A30s sometimes ‘lag a beat’ at normal operations, and are really weak when entering heavy tasks like games.

For those who only use the machine to listen to calls and surf the web, the A30s will probably be able to meet, but those who have experienced the higher-end models will notice the difference markedly. When entering the game, Galaxy A30s will have higher performance than A30 because … the screen resolution is lower. But I would like the company to upgrade both components then increase the price of the product, rather than ‘keep it down’ as it is now!

Another ‘unfortunate advantage’ on the Galaxy A30s is that due to the screen resolution drops, the configuration only stops at the level that is sufficient to use, the device has a very good battery life. With a 4000mAh battery, the device always lasts for a day, even through the 2nd day for those who use the battery saving device.

Epilogue

As a new generation A-series smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy A30s has a few ‘interesting’ points, we can mention the beautiful back in a luxurious way, the Infinity-U screen occupies a lot of front space, panels. AMOLED background for deep blacks, other rich colors, in-screen fingerprint sensor for modern feel and clean, easy to use OneUI interface.
