amazon Samsung Galaxy M12 reviews

Besides Galaxy A, Galaxy M is also one of Samsung’s best-selling models in the past few years. In particular, the Galaxy M51 stands out with a 7000mAh battery. That is a huge number on a smartphone. So far, Samsung continues to refresh the Galaxy M series with a low-cost device: the Samsung Galaxy M12. The first genuine device in Southeast Asia in the segment of more than $150 has a 90Hz screen.

Screen

As soon as I hold the device, I go into the settings to turn on 90Hz and then go to the newspaper pages, Facebook swipe, push, and push to see what’s different at 90Hz at this price range. I tried swiping; the M12 is a bit more jerky. Accurate data measurement is also 75-85 fps.

Only now, I went back to the Settings section to check it more closely. I noticed that on the M12, Samsung notes that: “Compatibility: For smoother animations and scrolling by automatically adjusting the frequency screen refresh rate up to 90Hz”. So the M12 is only automatically pushed up by the software when needed, not the default 90Hz like some other models to save battery. It took a lot of effort to equip the 90Hz screen; I wish Samsung would boldly add the ability always to use it at 90Hz; the Galaxy M12 has a 5000mAh battery, but don’t worry about consuming it. Of course, not everyone can adjust manually, so automatic is the perfect option for new users.

The screen of the Galaxy M12 has a size of 6.5 inches, an aspect ratio of 20: 9. That is a fairly large screen size compared to devices in the same segment. The front camera is designed in Infinity-V with a border that is not too thick. The border thickness of the two sides and the top edge is quite uniform, while the bottom edge is thickened; we can’t ask for more in a product with an attractive price like the Galaxy M12.

The device’s resolution is at HD +, so there is still a pixelation phenomenon when looking closely. However, it is impossible to recognize that small detail when used normally. Those who have used a higher quality screen may find the M12 is not good enough, but they only need a large, smooth screen in the basic customer segment.

Battery life

The Galaxy M series always has a great battery life, especially a 7000mAh battery like the Galaxy M51. The battery of this Galaxy M12 is a bit smaller, but still at 5000mAh. This capacity makes me quite surprised because it is higher than many flagship models on the market today.

I use basic tasks throughout the day such as surfing social networks, watching notifications, texting, watching YouTube for 1-2 hours at night, still 30% battery left. I had about 6-7 hours of continuous use with that amount of time. Of course, I don’t play games because the configuration is not too high, so the usage time is pushed up quite a lot. The included fast charger in the box is also at 15W, which is enough for me. After the battery is exhausted, the M12 will be fully charged after about 2 hours of charging.

Configuration

In terms of configuration, the Galaxy M12 has an Exynos 850 chip – which has been used on the A21s since last year. This chip was born to serve the low-cost segment, so the performance is also good for basic needs. The version I evaluate is 4GB RAM, so the multitasking ability is also relatively good. M12 supports up to 6GB of RAM and 1TB of storage using an expansion memory card for those with high storage needs. When it comes to entertainment, playing simple entertainment games will be the most suitable option for the M12. Or higher can play Call of Duty Mobile, Arena of valor Mobile is also quite good. The fps level will not be too high but still playable with light entertainment needs.

On the Galaxy M12, Samsung offers One UI 3.1, which is based on Android and the core version instead of the full version of One UI. The biggest limitation of the core version is that here you don’t get Knox secure folder. The user interface is also quite clean, although the machine comes with some pre-installed applications such as Netflix. But they can also be uninstalled if there is no need to use them.

Camera

The device has a cluster of 4 lenses that look quite “potent.” Still, the sensor size is also very small, including a 48MP lens, 5MP ultra-wide, a macro camera, and a depth sensor with 2MP resolution. Image quality is also sufficient to use, with enough variety. The AI works well, so adding a few filters is available to create beautiful photos, uploading them to social networks.

The image quality after pressing the shutter will be relatively different from the frame we look at to align. Samsung will use AI to retouch the image for the best quality.

Design

Finally, I say last about the design because it shows all the big features covering the product. It is a plastic back, many friendly and practical embossed motifs for users. It’s safe, there’s no need to use a case, but it’s also very comfortable to hold. The back is also made of blocks with both sides to make it seamless. That is something very few smartphones on the market today can do, even at low prices.

On the left edge is the SIM slot, and on the right side is the volume up and down keys combined with the power button. The fingerprint sensor on this edge is also very sensitive. I put the fingerprint on the right thumb; every time I press the screen, the lock is unlocked. It’s fast, making me feel like I haven’t set a password for the device.

Summary

In general, the Galaxy M12 is as practical as to how the company perfects the design. The company invests directly in what basic users need most: a high refresh rate screen and durable battery. Things like cameras and configurations will stop at a basic level because customers who choose products of this price will not prioritize taking virtual photos or playing heavy games. I like the Galaxy M12, do it well, fulfill the task. There is no need to concurrently many needs, many purposes of doing anything.
