In a pair of headphones, the most important thing is certainly still the pair of drivers responsible for producing sound. Therefore, when major sound companies develop a high-quality driver, they will save them for the most expensive pairs of headphones, only those with abundant financial resources have the opportunity to experience.

My first experience when I saw this pair of headphones was that it was quite large! Perhaps its volume is not much larger than the elder Momentum TWS 2, but the outside of the headset is made more square, so it feels big.

The good news is that the CX 400BT feels similar to the Momentum TWS 2, not the first generation. I still recommend that you try it first for those who have too small earlobes, but most people will probably still wear it, no problem at all.

In terms of design, we find a point where the CX 400BT has been cut from the Momentum TWS 2: water resistance. This pair of headphones that are not waterproof will not be a problem for those who enjoy music at home, but it will make those who use headphones to go to the gym not feel completely secure. But according to my experience, non-IP headsets can still be exercised comfortably, as long as you wipe them clean after use and avoid going to the rain or letting them fall into the water.

Like the Momentum TWS series, the CX 400BT is also equipped with smartphone software to control features, including adjusting EQ, updating software, turning on and off voice instructions. Last year, I was not satisfied with the company equipping the software with a very nice but not very convenient EQ interface. Now, the company has given users more options to adjust by frequency, accuracy, and simplicity.

At this software, we find the second cut-off point of the CX 400BT to achieve a reduced price compared to the Momentum TWS 2, which is that this pair of headphones did not have active noise cancellation. Like water resistance, this is not a big deal for those who enjoy headphones at home or in quiet places, but those who constantly have to go to noisy places are different.

This pair of headphones is tightly worn, hugging the user’s ear, so the natural noise cancellation is already quite good. Certainly, it cannot completely replace the active noise cancellation ANC. That is a trade-off you have to judge for yourself whether it matters to your usage!

Losing two features is also quite useful, even indispensable for certain users, but the CX 400BT makes up for it by being equipped with Sennheiser’s exclusive 7mm driver. This diaphragm is similar to the Momentum TWS 2, so we can confirm that the sound quality is similar, or at least not too much different (maybe from headset design, wearing style …). That is a pair of headphones for high sound quality, giving users the feeling of spending money as if they have “beaten” almost all of the sound!

Overall, this is a quiet, compact, and slightly darker sound, but only a little bit. Easy-to-listen, easy-to-mix sound, but in each sound range CX 400BT still gives a little more ‘spice’ so that when listening to music. We do not feel boring but are being ‘lulled.’ Bass has a bit more excess than average, but certainly less than the Momentum or CX pairs of headphones at the lower price range.
