Simaudio Moon 240i is a typical amplifier model, fully meeting listening to music with many digital and analog sources. The product is well designed and has a sound quality suitable for the listening style of most people.

I experience the Simaudio Moon 240i with the source being the Simaudio Moon Neo 280 D DAC decoder, getting music directly from the computer via the USB port, and converting the analog signal to the amplifier. The system uses the Ansuz A2 total power cord, the power cord for each Nordost Frey 2 machine, the QX4 noise processor, Qkore 1, Qkore 3. Ansuz A2 signal and speaker wire. The experience speaker pair is a pair of reference studio monitor speakers Yamaha NS 1000M.

For the digital music experience, I use music streaming directly from the Tidal music site with 16-bit (CD-equivalent) or 24-bit (HDCD) quality files. The music is reproduced with a completely relaxed style, without any strain or restraint. The Yamaha NS 1000M speakers pair has a fairly high sensitivity, but it is a closed box speaker, so it is not easy to play with full and neat sound. It seems that the Moon 240i has just enough power to control a pair of speakers with good sound quality.

Prokofiev’s classical work Romeo And Juliet under the violin of young female artist Lisa Batiashvilli is reproduced in depth. In this work, two instruments are opposite in pitch, the drum, and the violin. Both instruments counter each other along the length of the piece, creating an extremely dramatic but extremely interesting piece of music. Listening at volume 50, the drum sound is quite deep and has a moderate spread. Meanwhile, the sound of the violin wailing is very ghostly. The voice is clear and grippy with the characteristic vibration technique, causing a lot of emotions.

French music is an endless romantic topic that any music listener cannot ignore. I chose to listen to an album by singer Salvatore Adamo. That is an album mixed in classic pop style with string orchestra, pop orchestra, classical guitar. Once the French has written and sang love songs, listeners can only let go and slip into the emotional domain. Moon 240i and Yamaha NS 1000M did what I wanted: create a shimmering, charming music stage. Salvatore Adamo’s voice is warm and tender at times, rustling at times. But it’s always like pouring honey in your ears. The bass is deep and solid. Tombe La Neige, Quiero, Nathalie, Ella… like rewinding the listener to the past, where there are paved streets, alleys lined with flowers, corner cafes.

The Yamaha NS 1000M is a pair of innocent speakers just because it can’t lie. The source, the amplifier, will come out just like that. In terms of naturalness, the Moon 240i is not a natural-sounding performance amp. It tends to play full, well-rounded, easy-to-listen music. This style of play is suitable for most people who like to listen to voice music (vocals with few instruments) and bolero music. The midrange of the device is quite soft and warm. Only the mid-high range is not as soft as expected. Meanwhile, the treble range is quite good, soft, and not harsh.

There are three significant advantages of the Moon 240i that many people will have to consider when choosing an amplifier:

  1. Although 50 watts is not great, each amplifier watt controls the speaker well and still produces a satisfactory bass, still playing music that requires high speed.
  2. The standard USB B port of the device allows you to listen to lossless music directly from the computer very conveniently.
  3. The Moon 240i has the design quality of top-notch products that go above and beyond other hi-fi amps.
