Open the box

The box of this year’s product seems to be no different from that of 3 years ago, still a pair of headphones on a black background. The point I like is that the color of the headphones on the outside of the box is the color of the headphones on the inside.

The front is simple but the back is still a lot of words!

The headset is neatly folded in a rubber piece, with an accessory pocket on the bottom.

Opening the accessory bag, we get 2 more rubber pads and a short micro USB charging cord. I really like Skullcandy’s buffers, because they always have skulls, so they show a lot more personality than simple black cushions of other brands. But the point also needs to be improved here is the charger cord, hopefully next year it will switch to USB Type-C for modern.

Design

Ink’d + is a pair of necklace-shaped wireless headsets, with the ring made of flexible rubber to increase portability. The outer shell is featured in many colors, but different from other brands is this ‘pink’ color, for cute girls or men who want to show their ‘outstanding masculinity’.

The right neck strap includes the power button, volume control and charging port via a rubberized layer to ensure IPX5 water resistance. The control is raised a lot, making it possible for users to know clearly what button they are pressing, because it is placed in a very difficult position to see.

The earpiece is also made of rubber, but the material is stiffer than the necklace so it doesn’t feel creaking. The ear fits well with the ear of the listener completely with cushions, so comfort depends entirely on the choice of cushion.

Practical experience

The biggest upgrade of this year’s Plus version compared to the old version of Ink’d is the Bluetooth 5.0 standard. Perhaps I’ve mentioned the benefits of Bluetooth 5.0 too many times: reducing power latency, reducing signal drops and saving battery life. Ink’d + version almost never experienced a loss of sound, accompanied by a latency not inferior to wired headphones so I can completely use it to play game without feeling annoyed. !

The general sound quality of Ink’d + is not much changed compared to the old version, it is still a pair of slightly dark, heavy bass headphones for those who like to listen to strong music. The bass part follows the traditional tune of Skullcandy: the residue, pushing very close to the listener to create an impression right from the beginning. Compared to the previous generation of headphones of the company, this bass can still be called ‘moderate’, not so annoying, but it is not like the new generation headphones of the company anymore. Sub bass and mid bass are both strong, deep and unchecked too strong to produce an repercussion

The middle part, when standing next to the bass residue, of course it will be affected somewhat. The vocalist usually gives the highest position to the bass, but personally I think it is not pushed too far, accompanied by a certain thickness so it does not sink, clear enough. The high-mid segment is high enough, then the roll-off will be less, so it cannot express the soprano full of sound like the SoundMAGIC E11BT or Astrotec S60. Pop voices like Sarah from Kero Kero Bonito in Trampoline are still good, warm and sweet enough.

The bass and middle parts are good enough, even great for those who listen to music Dance and Hip Hop, but the headset can do better lies in the treble strip. The treble portion is quite small, especially compared to the common ground of the current pair of wireless headphones. It is played in a sweet, cut form so it is not ‘sharp’, ‘jingle’ enough to create an impression. The advantage of this strip is that it is much easier to listen to than the super bright treble, which is dazzling like in the old version of Skullcandy headphones, so we can not criticize it too much.

Conclusion

As mentioned at the beginning of the article, Skullcandy’s Plus products are not new pairs of headphones, but are still based on their predecessors. The Jib + pair has an advantage over the Jib: it has a lower selling price, and Ink’d + has the same price. However, I still appreciate this is still a pair of headphones worth buying, especially thanks to the powerful super bass, IPX5 waterproof and the latest Bluetooth 5.0.

– Good finishing

– Duration of playing music 8 hours

– Bluetooth 5.0 low latency

– IPX5 waterproof standard
