amazon Somic G945 reviews

The back is the detailed parameters of this pair of headphones. Some notable parameters are the 40mm driver, with a frequency range of 20Hz – 20kHz, a sensitivity of 113dB, and an impedance of 32 Ohms.

The headset is placed on a piece of plastic that looks quite simple. In general, Somic is an affordable option, so the packaging of most headphones does not feel very high-end. In the box, there are no additional accessories because this pair of headphones use a USB port, not 3.5mm, so the company does not offer an additional 6.3mm port.

Design

G954 has the same design as G955 to 99.99% because the 2 products are launched based on the same design. The outside is made of plastic but is finished to look like metal. Somic is very experienced in gaming design, so it looks extremely modern, with a blue LED strip that looks extremely like a reactor on iron man’s chest.

The head cushion is custom-made, quite similar to the mechanism of AKG, and feels extremely comfortable. The ear cushions are also made of breathable fabric, but there is a slight difference that there is a small piece of plastic, placed on the spring. The company after receiving a lot of feedback that the G955 pair is difficult to use for those who wear glasses, so with the G954 adds a “cushion” so that users can both wear glasses and wear headphones.

Of course, the headset has a built-in microphone for in-game conversation. This microphone also has a light, but when disabled, it turns off.

On the wire, there is a very large control section, that can control the volume, turn on and off the microphone, and of course, the ability to vibrate the headset. G954 has an additional vibration motor in the headset, most of which vibrates in the bass to create a vibrant feeling…in other words, “vibration” is dynamic! The vibration headset is also quite gentle, transmitted to the listener’s ear by the cushion, so it does not create an uncomfortable startling feeling.

The ear uses a USB port to power the vibration, microphone, and LED lights.

Software

Along with the headset, the company provides users with software to control music. Here users can switch between different effects. In my opinion, the “Hi-fi” effect is the most natural, “Movie” is the 7.1 emulation mode, so the sound is a bit far from people, only suitable for some supporting movies.

There is also a volume adjustment for each channel. If unfortunately, your headphones have a slight channel deviation, you can use the company’s software and adjust the balance. This software is generally quite simple, nothing too complicated, even users can not download and use the headset without a driver.

Play Music

As an upgraded version in terms of features as well as exterior finishing, the G954 has a similar sound quality to its brother G955. Like the G955, the G954 has a V-shape-oriented sound quality, boosting bass and treble to match Dacne and Pop music. Bass has a good punch, a bit more residue than average, but melts quickly, not dragging the tail too long to cause discomfort. There are not many Fullsize headphones in the price range of around $45, so it is difficult to compare the bass part of the G954, but with the need to use strong music, and EDM, the headset is very suitable.

The middle part of the headset is a bit thin as well as bright and is mixed with a few electronics, so sibilance occurs. The singer’s voice through the G954 is very modern, so the headset is especially suitable for those lines that have passed auto-tune. Loud, high-pitched voices like diva Celine Dion will have a slight glare. This mid voice is especially good in movies and games because it is very clear and close to the listener, but with songs prone to sibilance, it is a weakness. Up to the high range, the sound quality increases, because this is a pair of V-shape headphones! Treble is extremely abundant in quantity and healthy in quality!

Like the G955, the G954 is not too bad if used to listen to music, especially music that matches the V-shape sound of the headset. But once again I have to repeat: the sound quality of the G954 is a bit too modern, so it is not suitable for songs that need balance. P22BT is a better choice for those who only listen to music, not watch movies and play games.

– Watch movies / play games

The software is most effective when watching movies and playing games because the profile for these two purposes makes the sound quality slightly diluted. With the Movie profile, the 7.1 emulated soundcard in the headset is activated.

To try the movie, I watched the old but still very hot movie Ant-Man. This movie has many thrilling action scenes, shooting at each other, but there are also parts where only the characters talk. The G954 is good enough that the talk is not diluted (thanks to the clear and advanced mids), but the fights are still full of tension (due to the 7.1 sound simulation and extremely powerful bass). G955 does not disappoint users with its ability to watch movies, so the G954 is no exception.

The same is true when it comes to headset quality when used for gaming. With the game, I tried playing Fortnite, a brand-new multiplayer action game. Fortnite has both mobile and computer versions, but the G954 uses a USB port, so I will try it with a computer. This game has a lot of sound components, including talking teammates, talking characters, and weapon sounds. The G954 is not a pair of headphones with extremely high detail, but just good enough to separate these audio components. In the company’s software, there is also an option to turn on Feedback (the user’s voice into the headset), this part works very well, helping me to know if my volume is loud or low compared to my teammates. The 7.1 simulation soundstage also helps me determine the exact location of the weapons, helping me to find the enemy to destroy!

Summary

Only about $10 more expensive than its brother G955 ($50), but the G954 has 2 very worthwhile design upgrades, which are ear cushions for glasses wearers and the addition of a very unique headset vibration. This is a more complete version of G955 that users can hardly ignore.
