amazon Steelseries Apex Pro reviews

Apex Pro is a mechanical keyboard from Steelseries equipped with a new switch called OmniPoint that offers versatility in key travel, good quality of finish, and a pleasant typing feeling will be a reasonable choice for casual users, gamers, and office users.

If you are an office worker, like the feeling of typing “happy” but the keyboard must have a gamer design, or you are a gamer but want a little something simple and not too fancy, the design of Apex Pro will convince you. As a full-size 104-key keyboard, the Apex Pro has an unremarkable appearance with a familiar design but easily impresses its refined simplicity.

Like its other mechanical keyboards, Apex Pro has a minimalist design that is not too redundant and is as compact as possible, with the main color being matte black metal. The highlight on the front of the Apex Pro is the fixed screws that give it a sturdy feel; the number pad part also has a small black and white OLED screen, a physical key, and a roller with integrated keys.

This cluster of screens and keys with rollers is very interesting; you can quickly access color settings, macros, or profiles set up through the software. You can select images to display on the screen, including animations, still images, or other information. You can upload animations, stills, or if you have a little bit of pixel drawing experience, you can design your unique image. Unfortunately, the roller is that Steelseries has not given it more features than increasing or decreasing the volume and changing options in keyboard settings.

The Apex Pro has pretty good wiring slots for unobtrusive comfort on the back of the keyboard, and the Apex Pro’s connection cable is quite big and stiff. Unfortunately, the Apex Pro cannot disassemble the cable, so carrying this keyboard anywhere is quite entangled in many cases. Besides the wiring slot, there are two keyboard lifters in the two corners on the back of the keyboard, which will raise the Apex Pro to a suitable and comfortable angle for use.

The side edges of the keyboard are also quite impressive, with the top edge on the left being a PassThrough USB port that allows connecting other devices. Although quite convenient, Steelseries only equips this USB port for Apex Pro on the left side, making it not proportionate. Apex Pro will come with a very nice magnet-connected palm rest.

Apex Pro uses an “open foot” design for its keys and must be said to be very “sexy,” using an open-leg design combined with an LED temple that is placed outside the switch (most muscles have LED lights). RGB will normally be placed under the switch will help the light radiate out on the key surface very beautifully. The keyboard’s keycaps are ABS Doubleshot keycaps and are covered with light velvet for a very comfortable hand feeling.

Speaking of the Apex Pro switch, this is the new OmniPoint switch developed by Steelseries. SteelSeries’ OmniPoint Switch is a switch that uses a magnetic sensor system located at the bottom of the switch to help the company’s software determine the user’s click journey. Because of the use of magnets and combined with software developed by Steelseries for a long time, users can set up custom signal receiving points instead of using fixed notches on traditional mechanical keys. Also, because of magnets, the switch can determine the length of the user’s press stroke from the most sensitive 0.4 mm to the most compact 3.6 mm.

For gamers who need high sensitivity, the user only needs to apply a light force at the lowest setting, and Apex Pro has received the key. That will be perfect in games that require quick actions, such as CS: GO or PUBG games that require keystrokes to tilt or move. As for office users, they can set up for the deepest, most compact keystroke to type better and happier.

Another nice point with this OmniPoint switch is that you can set a separate keystroke for each key located in the main key area. Although not too many, enough keys are needed for use. Because of a magnet mechanism, the response time is also very impressive, as well as the durability is also upgraded compared to a conventional joint switch. The typing experience is still very good; it will be like Cherry MX Red, a switch acknowledged by gamers and many users as the standard.

Summarizing Apex Pro, this is the most attractive and versatile keyboard at the moment. The ability to change the keystroke will give users certain profiles for each of the main needs, such as gaming, typing, or simply mixing the two needs above.
