amazon TEAMGROUP T-FORCE XTREEM ARGB reviews
The T-Force XTreem ARGB is one of the most eye-catching design RAM kits on the market today, but what convinces me is its impressive performance and overclocking potential, absolutely worth the money.
TeamGroup is not a name that we will think of first when deciding to buy a certain RAM kit. The brand from Taiwan is more known for its components and accessories such as USB flash drives, memory cards, and popular segment SSDs. However, that doesn’t mean TeamGroup doesn’t know how to surprise us with high-end gaming products, and the T-Force Xtreem ARGB RAM kit is what I want to talk about.
Once released at Computex 2019 and officially on sale at the end of the year, the T-Force Xtreem ARGB was introduced by TeamGroup as the world’s first RAM product to use a mirror design. According to the design team of T-Force Xtreem ARGB, they had to calculate the refractive angle, the light reflection so that the ARGB LED can illuminate the best, as evenly as possible. We’ll check that out in this review.
Currently, the T-Force Xtreem ARGB has three base clock levels: 3200 MHz, 3600 MHz, and 4000 MHz. BiaReview version evaluated in this article is a 2 x 8GB kit clocked at 3200 MHz, Timing CL14-14-14-34 at a voltage of 1.35V.
Unique mirror design, very beautiful but easy to get fingerprints and scratches
First impressions out of the box, the T-Force Xtreem is a very eye-catching RAM kit, and it’s unlike any other on the market.
The sleek, premium design of the mirror is, of course, the brightest highlight of the T-Force Xtreem. Beautiful but also very fragile, this RAM kit needs to be “take care” the user wants to preserve that beauty. Easy to stick to dust and fingerprints, T-Force Xtreem’s mirror layer is also difficult to avoid scratches, that’s why TeamGroup bundles a soft glass cloth – an accessory I never thought I would get in a RAM kit.
T-Force Xtreem’s radiator and light diffuser system is divided into two main parts. Since the memory IC of the RAM is only located on one side, a traditional heatsink surrounding the memory module is not strictly necessary. For cooling, TeamGroup has integrated an anodized aluminum strip attached directly to the chip. Samsung’s memory ICs usually don’t radiate great heat even during strong overclocking, so this cooling solution, while looking simple, is still more than enough to keep the RAM kit working perfectly throughout its lifecycle.
As ARGB ram (Addressable RGB), users can customize the color and effects of each LED bulb on T-Force Xtreem to their liking. TeamGroup has also put a lot of effort into the compatibility of the RAM kit, and the T-Force Xtreem will be compatible with both Intel and AMD, and be able to sync RGB lighting with nearly all ecosystems currently on the market: Asus’ Aura Sync, MSI’s Mystic Light, …

High performance, impressive overclocking potential
To measure the performance of T-Force Xtreem, BiaReview uses a system including:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: MSI B450m Mortar Max
RAM: TeamGroup T-Force Xtreem ARGB 3200 MHz
GPU: Colorful GTX 1660 Super NB
Source: Antec Edge 750W 80 Plus Gold
To make it easy for readers to imagine, I have compared the performance of the T-Force Xtreem with the 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro bus 3000 MHz kit, timing 16-20-20-38. Of course, these two RAM kits are not in the same segment, but we can also partly see the difference.
For AMD, specifically the 3000 series CPU, the optimal clock speed for RAM will be between 3600 MHz and 3800 MHz, since fabric clocks are now running at a 1: 1 ratio and clocked at a maximum around 1900 MHz. Take advantage of Memory Try it! Yes on MSI board, I can overclock the T-Force Xtreem to 3600 MHz with CL16-18-18-38 timing turn, the voltage set at 1.4V without a sweat. If possible, we will test the performance of this RAM kit on Intel systems later.
Thus, we can see, in benchmarks, the performance of T-Force Xtreem at 3200 MHz is only slightly better than the Corsair Vengeance Pro. However, when overclocked to 3600 MHz, we saw a significant improvement, ranging from 3-5%. It is worth mentioning that we get this completely free and almost without any effort. If you want, with a little knowledge of overclocking, you can push the clock and timing even higher, but for the average user, 3600 MHz is more than enough.
Those are benchmarks, what about gaming? Fast testing with the game Far Cry 5, overclocking T-Force Xtreem to 3600 MHz helped the average FPS improved from 47 to 48, the number of frames rendered increased from 2790 to 2804. Smooth, but much more chances you won’t feel. Overclocking a CPU or GPU will bring about more dramatic changes.
Summary
It’s hard to say which point I like more about T-Force Xtreem, design or performance. On the one hand, this is one of the nicest RAM kits I’ve ever experienced, with a sleek, modern design, beautiful bright ARGB LED and highly customizable. On the other hand, the performance of T-Force Xtreem has been thoroughly tweaked from the factory by Team Group with CL14-14-14-34 timing, and overclocking this RAM kit is a breeze. Performance improvements thanks to B-die reliability from Samsung.
The “coverage” of the T-Force Xtreem is probably the biggest problem, as there are not many dealers and stores distributing this RAM kit on the market. It’s understandable, as T-Force Xtreem is geared towards the high-end segment, where Corsair Dominator and Gskill Trident Z Royal are “bossing”, but if you are willing to speending money, the flagship RAM kit comes from TeamGroup will certainly not disappoint.
