amazon TFZ T2 Galaxy reviews

TFZ is a audio equipment manufacturing company based in Shenzhen, China. Starting in 2015, although a fledgling company, its products have quickly gained popularity in the market of IEM headphones thanks to their reasonable price and superior sound quality. Since then, TFZ has rapidly expanded to expand markets to Asia, Europe and the Americas, along with extremely affordable IEMs with its graphene membrane driver technology.

While TFZ is ready to finalize IEMs models using BA drivers such as the new Secret Garden series, the company still wants to focus on improving the sound even better on the gaphene driver platform. Personally, I used to own TFZ Series 2 for about $50, it is really worth the money for new players. Recently, TFZ launched the Galaxy TFZ T2 model, not knowing whether this time TFZ will make a new low-price fever or not, let’s find the answer through this article.

At around $ 60 for an IEM headset, you won’t expect too much on packaging and accessories. The box-opening experience is quite basic. You can see the housing pair is in a square box at the top and accessories are in the rectangular box below. Rummaging through everything in the box, we’ll find a headphone cable. 1 set of ear tips, 1 carrying bag, 1 clothespin and of course 1 pair of housing TFZ T2 Galaxy. This accessory TFZ equipped on T2 Galaxy has slightly changed in the bundled tips as well as the refreshed conductor.

DESIGN AND FINISHING

The shape of housing on TFZ T2 Galaxy retains the basic design of the previous Series 4 models. TFZ T2 Galaxy has faceplate made from CNC stainless steel. Each side is engraved with different logos. The body of TFZ T2 Galaxy is finished with polycarbonate. In the sound hole, they placed a metal mesh to protect the driver inside, preventing dirt or earwax from getting in. However, it also blocked a part of the audio from escaping again because the hole is quite sparse. Overall good finishing feeling and very solid.

WIRES AND CONNECTIONS

Most of the previous TFEM IEMs are equipped with a 0.78mm 2-pin connector (except for some solid wire models) and TFZ T2 Galaxy is no exception. The stranded conductor is 4-core. According to the company, the wire material is OFC silver plated copper. With this price range, I do not expect too much in the attached cord, fortunately, the black plastic wrap, if it is plastic, when it is used for a while, it will oxidize into a green color, which is quite uncomfortabl. Microphonics is not a problem on this wire.

However, I still have to complain about the connector on the included wires of TFZ which is quite easy to loose. I used to have a TFZ Series 2 and that connector was loose as soon as I tried twisting the cord. So I think it’s better if conditions permit, you should buy a wire to upgrade the Galaxy TFZ T2.

Comfort and FIT capability

Along with the proper inclination of the drain pipe, the rounded lines on the housing body, the TFZ T2 Galaxy is neat on his ears from the first wear. Wearing feeling is quite comfortable and pleasant. I used M-sized eartips and found that the soundproofing ability of this headset was quite good and did not need to be adjusted when removed or put on because it sticks very firmly.

In the bundled eartips, there are 2 different types: narrow tips and wide tips. I find that both types fit equally well, but the sound on the narrow end of the tube plays better and is a bit more rounded than the wide end, improving the range and the wider soundstage.

FEELING ON SOUND

OVERVIEW

The TFZ T2 Galaxy has a slight V-Shape sound, slightly tucked into the bass and treb. In the high range, while it still has a good opening, the slightly faded sound appears in tinkling sounds.

The bass certainly does not show as well as the details on the BA driver but in return it has a much better volume and bounce. The male vocal’s performance is a bit thin and backward but still up to the highs for the vocals and instruments to shine together. Meanwhile, the slight emphasis on the upper mid and treb bands brings an improvement in detail making this headset easily one of the good options in the price range.

Soundstage and sound

The soundstage of TFZ T2 Galaxy is wide and average in depth. Which means it is just enough, does not make you feel uncomfortable but also not wide open.

However, it is worth noting that the ability to layer the instrument and the reproducible position on the Galaxy TFZ T2 is relatively accurate. In return, the soundstage is not very large, the overall sound is still quite good to perform.

Bass

The bass range of TFZ T2 Galaxy has been emphasized on sub-bass, which increases volume. However, it causes the speed and decay to be reduced, sometimes it is sticky and incoherent when listening to high-speed bass songs such as Death-Metal.

With your powerful sub-bass range, you will feel the powerful and neat drums in the frequency band from 150hz-250hz. TFZ T2 Galaxy has a mid-bass part that is slightly roll-off but overall the bass is still not thinner due to the strong sub-bass range.

Genres like Pop, EDM, Hip hop can be played easily on TFZ T2 Galaxy. Genres like Rock, Metal or Jazz may be a bit out of breath due to the slightly pulled tail bass.

Mids

The low-mid range on the TFZ T2 Galaxy is slightly backward and roll-off at about 250-500Hz. The instrument appears but less floating because the sub-bass strip takes away the energy, making the low-mid range quite natural without being too thin.

The mid range starts to look sharp at about 800Hz to 1kHz before dropping slightly to 2kHz. However, TFZ T2 Galaxy is not harsh, it still controls the natural tone, especially the female voice.

The upper mid range of the TFZ T2 Galaxy started smooth at about 2kHz, peaked at 3kHz and began to drop sharply at 4kHz. As a result, you will hear high clarity and very good control in this tonal range. The sound of the instrument is really pleasant without having to worry about harshness or dryness. The sound of the percussion is reproduced in full detail.

Highs

The treble strip is highlighted as an improvement of the TFZ T2 Galaxy when compared to the predecessor TFZ T1 Galaxy with the slightly treble strip. This makes the overall sound more clear and the resolution increased significantly. It also makes the sound of TFZ T2 Galaxy soaring and easier to breathe, without being suffocated.

PERMISSION

According to the specifications, the Galaxy TFZ T2 has an impedance of 16ohm and a high sensitivity of 110dB. So you don’t need a huge amplifier to be able to pair with this headset.

CONCLUDE

If you’re looking for an affordable headset to wear right away, need a deep bass and clear highs, TFZ T2 Galaxy is the first choice for you. TFZ T2 Galaxy for a good soundproofing, high comfort so you can wear it wherever you are.

Although not chasing the sound-driven sound quality, but certainly TFZ T2 Galaxy will bring exciting moments with joyful and explosive sound quality, combined with beautiful design and affordable price.
