amazon TRONSMART MEGA PRO reviews

Still, the classic look is somewhat old, not much different from the previous generation, but hidden inside Tronsmart Mega Pro is a strength that few Bluetooth speaker products can compete in the same price range.

It has been more than two years since Tronsmart launched the Element Mega Bluetooth speaker. At that time, the product received many positive reviews from BiaReview, from experience, sound quality to battery life, a good alternative to built-in speakers on smartphones, laptops, or even TVs. More than two years is a long time in the technology world with many changes, so the new version of this speaker – Tronsmart Mega Pro, also the main character in today’s review – will bring improvements. What progress to convince users?

A few modern touches that don’t hide the old design

Tronsmart Mega Pro still wears a classic to old look in terms of design, easy to remind you of the cassette decks from decades ago. The square, horizontal block shape, “speaker diaphragm” covering all four sides makes Mega Pro appear less youthful and dynamic compared to products from JBL, Sony. The Tronsmart brand is printed on the front with a font that is too normal, almost not helping to improve the monotony of Mega Pro.

With dimensions of 250 x 82 x 104mm respectively and weighing 1.78 kg, Tronsmart Mega Pro is not a thin and light Bluetooth speaker, so you will need to consider the area and weight of luggage when you want to take it on a picnic. But with a total power of up to 60W, 20W higher than the Element Mega, those are perfectly acceptable numbers.

One of the rare “youthful” features of Tronsmart Mega Pro is the control panel located on the top. The operation between the buttons is completely by touch, the sensitivity is good, but this surface is easy to stick to sweat and fingerprints, needs frequent cleaning. Tronsmart uses lights for the buttons and the border running along the surface, a style rarely used by other brands to save battery. Still, in return, users will be easier to manipulate in the dark, also like helping to highlight the speaker compared to the surrounding objects.

A few more new points on the control panel of Tronsmart Mega Pro is the built-in EQ including three modes of Deep Bass (default), 3D (green light), and Vocal (blue light), along with support for assistants virtual reality like Siri, Cortana, and Google Assistant, without Amazon’s Alexa and Samsung’s Bixby. The highlight features of Element Mega, such as true wireless connecting two speakers to create stereo effects, or NFC one-touch connection, are inherited by Mega Pro.

Behind the speaker is the power key, and a rubber plastic cap protects all the connection ports. These include a 3.5mm AUX connection port, a memory card slot, USB-A for you to listen to music from a flash drive or charge a power bank, and a USB-C port to charge the input for the speaker. Tronsmart Mega Pro meets IPX5 light water resistance, peace of mind when you listen to music by the pool or enjoy music in the yard when it rains, which the predecessor Element Mega did not have.

Comes with Tronsmart Mega Pro is a full set of accessories, including a 3.5mm dual-ended AUX cord, USB-C charging cord, user manual with warranty card, and a genuine carrying bag. Like other Tronsmart products, the Mega Pro comes with a 12-month warranty.

But inside is a formidable power.

With a total capacity of up to 60W, including a subwoofer, two satellite speakers, a resonant bass diaphragm (passive radiator), and two amps, it can be affirmed that Tronsmart Mega Pro is one of the “strongest” portable speakers in the price range. According to Tronsmart, a big contribution to Mega Pro’s high capacity is SoundPulse technology, a proprietary algorithm upgraded from DSP (Digital Audio Processing) that works with a custom chip and large capacity cavity. Right from the Element Mega version, Tronsmart has started to integrate this technology.

Thanks to that, even without the “True 360°” design, Tronsmart Mega Pro can still rock a 50 m2 room no matter where it is placed. Even when pushing the volume to the maximum, the speaker’s sound does not have distortion or crackling, a big improvement compared to the previous generation. If you only need to listen to entertainment music at the desk, the volume level of 30-50% is more than enough.

Although the default EQ profile is Deep Bass, Tronsmart Mega Pro does not have a “thumpy” bass range relatively harmonious and neutral. With Imagine Dragon’s Bad Liar, the sub-bass still feels good, punchy; Dan Reynolds’ signature strong voice is shown almost perfectly, separate without being overwhelmed by the bass range.

Switching to gentle Pop Ballad songs, Mega Pro reproduces the violin and sweet voice quite well, natural and pleasant, not harsh, the lines this music, the EQ “Vocal” will perform better than the default Deep Bass.

Finally, the high strip of Mega Pro is airy, but humming has not come, and it is dark. Kenny G’s Forever In Love is reproduced by Mega Pro a bit dry. Still, after all, there are not many Bluetooth speaker products that can handle this type of music well if not a “specialist” speaker, especially in a price range below $100.

In terms of latency, playing an FPS game like PUBG, I can still notice a very small delay between the gunfire and the bullet. That is more than enough to decide the game, which is why the speaker (and headphones) Bluetooth is generally not a good option to use when playing games.

Equipped with a 10,400 mAh battery, Tronsmart Mega Pro gives about 8-9 hours of actual use at 70% volume, compared to the manufacturer’s “up to 10 hours” announcement, most likely in this condition ideal condition at 50% volume. The full charge time of the speaker is more than 4 hours, and Tronsmart recommends that you do not listen to music while charging another device via the backup battery feature (you can, but shouldn’t) to avoid damaging the battery as well affect the sound quality.

Summary

Another “stable” product from Tronsmart, Mega Pro, mainly inherits and improves what has made the name of the senior Element Mega. Although wearing a somewhat youthful design, inside Tronsmart Mega Pro is an impression of both “quantity and quality” that few products in the same price range can match. The price of $85 is commensurate with what Tronsmart’s speakers bring, but a more modern design, more youthful color options will be what Tronsmart needs to do in the next version to continue the journey to “take over” the segment.
