APPEARENCE

LITE – something associated with this word almost always means a reduction, a reduction to a more minimalist, this is completely true to the appearance of VE MONK LITE. The feeling when on my ear it was extremely comfortable for the first time, the housing is smaller, no longer feeling like being stimulated and entangled like the old VE MONK.

VE MONK LITE comes in 4 colors, 3 colors GOLD-WHITE, GOLD-BLACK, SILVER-BLACK for the 40OHM version and SILVER-WHITE color reserved for the 120OHM version.

As for wires, VE now offers two versions, the regular version and the SPC silver-plated copper version, in addition to three options for jacks: Balanced 2.5mm, Balanced 3.5mm and Single-End 3.5mm.

40 Ohm version.

The impression right from the start was the mid range. The sound is gently pressed on the high mid feeling the female vocal is very smooth and quite sweet, less regressed like the MONK + version. The treb control was good, the prelude song I Cry heard the tinkling sound and felt the softness of the treb. Overall quite clear sound. Because the strip is pressed on the mid and treb strips, the bass strip is slightly more breathless. Bass does not go deep, just enough to make the background for light music. When tested with September, the bass lacked depth so it sounded a bit 2D, but the mid treb did a good job so it still felt the fun of this song. MONK LITE’s soundstage is still extremely spacious, airy as MONK +

In short, this 40Ohm version was born to best perform female vocal tracks.

120 Ohm version

Unbelievable ! Why is the same VE MONK LITE and the 120 Ohm version is so different? VE is very clever to play with the user, the sound of this version if not too much is beyond the price range, extremely impressive.

Bass is clearly improved, both in quality and quality, better than MONK +. The perception of depth has actually appeared plus the width of the soundstage is almost unchanged as the 40 Ohm version.

Details on the 120 Ohm version are still very good, Mid is clearer, clearer on MONK +, the treb strip retains the same softness as the 40 Ohm version and has better control, no glare when opened at high volume as on the 40 Ohm version.

When using the 2.5mm balanced port on the Cayin N5II, the 120 Ohm version, the bass is deeper and stronger due to the stronger source, better control tone, wider soundstage and significantly improved details.
