Viewsonic VX2718-P-mhd – gaming monitor suitable for “tight” budgets

Rate this post

This is not the first time that Viewsonic has targeted the popular segment. Allowing gamers to own a 27-inch screen with a 165Hz refresh rate, for less than $220. Of course, the Three Sparrows brand is not the only one in this price range. But to be fair, Viewsonic VX2718-P-mhd is a monitor worth paying attention to in this segment.

Design

There’s not much to say about the design, because the VX2718-P-mhd is dressed in a completely black coat (except for the prominent Viewsonic accents on the front and back). The design remains the same as the VX2418-P-MHD, I like these types of screens. They are quite suitable for work or entertainment corners. Possesses dimensions of width x height x depth of 61.5 x 45.8 x 22.6 respectively and weighs about 4.4 Kg. Easily moved whenever needed.

By default, the screen is arranged quite low compared to the base. The reason for this is that it is almost fixed because the V-shaped base is not too big. The overall screen becomes more harmonious. In addition to using a standard VESA mount, there is another solution: the monitor stand. You can both improve visibility when using a screen and minimize desk space.

In terms of connectivity, the monitor has two HDMI 1.4 ports, one DisplayPort 1.2, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Not to mention the fact that two modest 2W speakers are integrated. Of course, their quality will not be as expected. In return, they will provide good support in certain cases.

The OSD physical keys are located at the bottom right of the screen. It is a bit difficult because we have to press many times to make the desired customization settings. As Bluelight mode helps reduce blue light, there are two for the eyes. Synchronize and optimize display content with preset configurations (Standard, Game, Movie, Text, Web, MAC, monochrome).

Display

Viewsonic VX2718-P-MHD is equipped with a flat 27-inch VA panel and FHD 1920×1080 resolution. The static contrast ratio is relatively high at 4000:1. 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT response time. Adaptive Sync technology synchronizes images, without tearing or lagging. It should be noted that its effectiveness depends on the signal connection port. This feature adjusts the screen’s refresh rate based on the frame rate of each game you’re playing. This will eliminate the common image-tearing phenomenon.

The brightness of the VX2718-P-MHD is only at a moderate level (250cd/m2). The light distribution is satisfactory with an average error of less than 8%. Through tests, I did not notice any backlight bleeding. In the color display, there is still some deviation in red and blue. The average DeltaE index is about 2.58. The screen offers the full sRGB color space. On the other hand, AdobeRGB is only at 77%, DCI-P3 is about 80%. It is quite understandable when the pure nature of gaming is clearly shown. Not too multitasking like in other product lines.

Summary

The Viewsonic VX2718-P-mhd doesn’t seem to show off too much in terms of specifications. But it is a great suggestion for all eyes, meeting the majority of gamers’ needs with a small budget. Stable color range, high scanning frequency, and extremely low latency satisfy users.
