The design of the Mi 9 is luxurious, sophisticated – satisfying the requirements of a flagship. No longer designed rabbit ears, Xiaomi has turned to designing small droplets, creating sympathy. Interface and features
Like many of Xiaomi’s phones from MIUI 10, Mi 9 has a heterogeneous error in notifications, sometimes not. This error is really annoying and sometimes makes you miss important information. It’s hard to accept when it’s still on a flagship line.
Even when in use, notifications are difficult to track: the icon in the status bar is hidden after a few seconds, causing you to constantly check notifications.
On the other hand, MIUI has some new features that give you more control: the Sound / Mute button in the quick setup menu, a side button to turn on / off the vibration; Dual App function allows you to use 2 different accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. You can also use Second Space to create a second “phone” space with a completely different set of apps, accounts, and photo collections.
In terms of features, there are two notable features on Mi 9. The first is the fingerprint sensor embedded inside the screen. Unlike Samsung Galaxy S10, Xiaomi’s flagship uses the same optical sensor of Huawei Mate 20 Pro and OnePlus 6T. It’s not as good as the S10’s ultrasonic sensor but it’s not too bad. Once you get used to it, the experience of Mi 9 will be almost perfect. Also, there is no face unlock feature.
The second feature is the dedicated Google Assistant (GA) button – Xiaomi called the AI button. It allows Mi 9 to always activate GA for you to use it anytime even if the phone is not unlocked. In addition, you can set other features for double-clicking: open one of the cameras, turn on the flash, return to the previous application, etc. However, you should be careful to right-click and turn it on.
Processor, performance and memory
With the Snapdragon 855 chip, it is not surprising that Mi 9 possesses great performance: heavy games like PUBG run smoothly but at high configuration settings, light games can run for long periods of time without causing a heater.
Camera
Mi 9 has some changes compared to Mi 8: the new Sony 48MP sensor replaces the 12MP sensor. A pretty big upgrade to the Megapixel but with it, Mi 9 does not have optical stabilization technology (OIS). Instead, the 48MP sensor will solve this problem.
When shooting at night, Xiaomi does not have Google Night Vision technology, so night shooting is not optimal. Photos were dim and often blurred, blurry in extreme dark environments.
In the daytime, Mi 9 produced great photos at 12MP default resolution. If you want to switch to dedicated 48MP capture mode, you will lose some features (eg HDR). So we recommend that you only shoot 48MP when you want to crop images after you capture them or want to print large images. When zooming into an object, the quality of the image when zoomed in 2x is the best.
Portrait mode works perfectly in 2 rear cameras and a camera 20MP that produces excellent image quality with beautiful sparkling bokeh.
