amazon Zotac GT 640 reviews
Zotac GT 640 small and simple box cover. Popular products like this usually do not have much investment in packaging.
The card is wrapped in a thick plastic bag that protects against shocks during shipping. Accessories include manuals, driver disks and a DVI-VGA port.
Zotac uses Nvidia’s original short-circuit boards, which can fit HTPC entertainment systems. Black boar looks pretty solid. Card does not require auxiliary power supply, you only need to equip 300 W power supply is overpowered plug GT 640.
Aluminum sheath block and very thin.
The card is equipped with two DVI ports and a mini-HDMI port, supporting the simultaneous output of three monitors. For the GT 640, the ability to play 2 or 3 screens is almost nonexistent, but serving the job is overpowering.
Components on board are not many. Since it’s a non-secondary VGA source with very little power consumption of around 60W, the card has only one power phase for the GPU. 8 Micron memory chips 256 MB are paired with 2 GB DDR3 memory, operating at 891 MHz.
I can only use the word “bizarre” to describe the GT 640 of Nvidia. The card uses the GK107 GPU like the GTX 650, but comes with 2 GB DDR3 memory (GTX 650 is 1 GB GDDR5). Looking at the GPUz, you can see that the GT 640 is no different than the GTX 650, except that the memory bandwidth is much thinner: 28.5 GB / s compared to 80 GB / s.
Only one way to explain how Nvidia works: they do not have a GPU to compete with AMD at this level, so GK 107 alone has to “clone” to GT 640 and GTX 650, carrying a very long range from 110 to 130 USD. At the same time the GT 640 will also have to use DDR3 memory otherwise it will be strong across the GTX 650

Overclocking – temperature – noise level
Room temperature at test time is 30 degrees C. VGA is tested on benchtable so when mounted on the case the noise can be reduced.
* NOTE: Different graphics cards have different OC capabilities depending on the GPU. The results below are for reference only, the actual may be slightly higher or lower.
Zotac GT 640 allows up to 100mV but because the card has only one source phase, I only OC on the default voltage. The highest clocked gain is 1050/1130 MHz. With the bandwidth of DDR3 memory, the GK107 GPU is very congested.
Pulse memory significantly affected the performance of the GT 640. Overclocked performance increased by 23.8% – not bad at all for a graphics card
Fan heatsink does not give track speed per minute. Fan size is small but surprisingly low noise. At about 60% or more I started to hear the wind, but then even accelerating to 100% of the fan did not cause any discomfort, even though the noise increased. Generally placed in the case, users do not need to roll.
The effect of heat dissipation:
– 902/891 MHz (default): maximum game temperature of 62 degrees C, fan 51%; FurMark 70 degree C fan 65%.
– 1050/1130 MHz: maximum gaming temperature 65 degrees C, 56% fan; FurMark 75 degree C fan 74%.
Summary
Overall, compared to p / p, the Zotac GT 640 lost a lot of HD 7750. AMD’s non-main source competitor delivers up to 34.2% performance.
If you’re able to afford the HD 7750, of course, it’s a better choice, and you might not be as happy with the GT 640 as it’s at least the second strongest among the non-secondary cards. Zotac GT 640 can play most games with good settings on screen resolution of 1366 x 768 (18.5 inch) and 1600 x 900 (20 inch).
Pros:
– Can be used in HTPC systems, capable of exporting 3 monitors.
– Heat dissipation is acceptable both in terms of noise and temperature.
– No secondary source.
– Enough to play most games with pretty settings on 18.5 and 20 inch monitors.
– Overclocking pretty, performance increased by 23.8%.
Cons:
– p / p is far less than the HD 7750 in the upper range.
– Board short not beautiful.
– Less components.
