Beats Studio Pro

The unsuccessful introduction of Solo Pro headphones led Beats to launch Pro Studio headphones which they later developed into their Studio headphone line. I tested this headphone model today by using it. I present my assessment of Beats Studio Pro which represents Beats’ latest wireless headphone technology.

Design

The Beats Studio Pro design maintains its original appearance from Beats Studio 3 because the American audio company has not made any changes to its design since the previous generation. The Studio Pro and Studio 3 headphones differ because Studio Pro introduces contemporary design elements through its updated color palette. I find the beige color to be visually appealing because it creates a unique appearance that maintains its cleanliness better than traditional white. The Beats Studio Pro provides users with comfortable wearing experience because its earpads deliver softness while its clamping force remains lighter than Solo Pro headphones.

The system uses buttons for track skipping and volume control which enables users to operate the system with better accuracy. The Beats Studio Pro uses a Type C charging port which replaces the previous generation’s Lightning port as its new charging connector.

Features

In contrast to the largely unchanged design, the features of the Beats Studio Pro have been comprehensively upgraded. With the Type C port, users can easily play lossless music. There are three modes (settings) to choose from: Signature for the best music listening experience, Entertainment for movies and games, and Conversation for calls and podcasts. Noise cancellation and transparency mode are two essential features on a high-end headphone today, and the Beats Studio Pro is equipped with both, and even better, they work extremely well. With noise cancellation, the Beats Studio Pro can significantly reduce low-frequency sounds and minimize unpleasant noises such as horns or brakes. The Beats Studio Pro’s microphone has also been significantly improved compared to its predecessor, with clear and crisp call quality comparable to Apple Airpods Max. The battery life of the Beats Studio Pro is also quite good, with 40 hours with ANC off and 24 hours with ANC on, enough for several days of continuous use.

Sound

The Beats Studio Pro provides three different ways for users to connect their devices through Bluetooth and 3.5mm jack and Type-C connectors. I predict that 99% of users will choose Bluetooth as their main connection method in 2024, which leads me to test sound quality through that particular connection. The Beats Studio Pro presents a bass range that is less powerful than previous models because its bass range produces tighter sound and solid bass and its bass content. The sound signature of the Beats Studio Pro might disappoint long-time Beats fans because the dark sound with rich bass that used to exist has disappeared. The sound signature creates a positive effect because it establishes a complete musical balance that works for multiple music styles.

The Beats Studio Pro functions as an upgraded product which brings fresh elements to an existing product. Beats has improved their product through multiple changes which enhance user experience despite minimal changes to the product’s exterior design. The Beats Studio Pro sound quality will create debate because the system has abandoned its original sound style which built the Beats brand to deliver a sound experience that will appeal to more users.
