Following the current trend, we set a new criterion when choosing a high-end headset encapsulated in 3 elements: wireless and noise-canceling, lightweight with a neat design, and good sound quality. Bowers & Wilkins PX has an excellent sound quality similar to its P7 Wireless brother, perfect for portable needs. PX is available in 2 colors, gray and bright yellow, with the same price of about $ 400. The product shows very good noise cancellation when used in noisy public places, suitable for people who move or ride a car through testing.

It is no exaggeration to say that no noise-canceling headphones have heard “early” music like the B&W PX. The headset has an ultra-wide soundstage that makes music more elegant and spread out than ever before, more than the current high-end competitor, the Sony 1000X. When listening to music with the PX, sometimes I hear sounds that seem far away, which confuses me about whether it’s inside or outside the headphones. Of course, with noise cancellation enabled, I know this sound is coming from the headphones, but that still brings an indescribable feeling. Bowers & Wilkins headphones are also often tuned for heavy bass; this is also a strong point that helps it do well for outdoor music listening needs.

B&W PX shines in anything from electronic, hip hop, and pop to classical. Melodrama (Lorde) and ACT ONE (Marian Hill) give great sound, although these are two tracks with many details that easily make many headphones flinch. The headphones also give extremely balanced bass with a full mid-range, the mid-bass is a bit exaggerated, but this is a good point to make the B&W PX sound better. For heavy classical fans, the PX will be a bit weak in the special acoustic details of the instrument, thereby being a bit inferior to classical “specialist” headphones like the Audio-Technica DSR9BT. PX compensates for extremely good sound performance in the vocal part, fully expressing the necessary smoothness in audiophile music genres. Although not possessing the most advanced noise-canceling technology, the PX makes up for it with its coherent sound quality, satisfying most mid-range and mid-high music listeners.

PX’s “secret weapon” is the same driver design as the flagship P9 Signature version. However, the sound quality is slightly different, with the bass part lighter than the P9, thanks to the new tuning that focuses more on the balance threshold. In quiet environments, the noise canceling feature makes the sound quality of the headphones sound weird, and I usually turn it off. The PX is also not suitable for use in a closed room because the sound quality at this time sounds so sharp that it causes a bit of discomfort, significantly reducing the enjoyment of listening.

B&W also released an app that allows connection and control specifically for the PX, giving users a more intuitive interface and helping to customize the available noise cancellation level of the PX. The app also has a sensor to automatically pause the music in certain default situations, which it thinks users will want, but I find this more hassle than convenience. Customizing the noise-canceling level is not too prominent; there is no need to use the app to quickly turn on / off the noise canceling with the physical key on the earcup. I love the feature that automatically stops the music when I remove the headset and resumes playing when I put it back on, which is very handy when I need to interact with my surroundings quickly. This feature, of course, still has sensor flaws, but it’s not too annoying and generally acceptable.

B&W PX does not have Apple’s W1 chip integrated, so that pairing will take time, but everything will be in place once connected. It should also be mentioned that the PX has a USB-C charging port built-in by B&W. So it will be extremely handy for those who own and work with devices with the same charging port mentioned above (bring it with one charging cable) and allow listening to music with a wired connection using the USB-C jack when the battery suddenly runs out. The headset’s battery life is rated up to 22 hours, which will also rarely happen. Playing music at the highest volume for about 18 hours of use, an extremely impressive number.

The headphones also have an excellent build quality that lives up to Bowers & Wilkins’s quality standards. The headset frame is made of aluminum covered with flexible nylon with a very lightweight; it comes with spacious earcups and soft leather earpads to ensure the necessary comfort even when used for a long time. I also tried wearing the PX for jogging, and surprisingly, in contrast to the very light two earpads that hug around the head, the adhesion ability is extremely stable. The PX will not loosen or fall unless the wearer turns their head too hard.

In general, Bowers & Wilkins joined the noise-canceling headset segment quite late, but the wait is completely worth it. The B&W PX scores points for its beautiful design and good artistry and stands out for its high-end sound quality and advanced technology. With long battery life, it also easily becomes an indispensable companion for music lovers. Before owning the B&W PX, the Sony MDR-1000X was a must-have when I was about to leave my house. Now this routine will have more B&W PX to change back and forth.
