Corsair RMe Series RM850e – As the processing power of modern graphics cards, motherboards, and processors steadily increases, so too do the power requirements, which are coupled with new power supply standards and the need for continuous power delivery in a compact form factor.

Corsair RMe Series RM850e – Compact, powerful, and quiet!

When focusing on mid-to-upper-range products, the Corsair RMe Series RM850e power supply initially appears extremely simple, with its packaging directly emphasizing power delivery, quiet operation, and modern certifications compared to its predecessor.

The Corsair RMe Series RM850e package fails to show 80 Plus certification which serves as the essential measure for assessing power supply performance.

Corsair provides its performance evaluation through Cybernetics “Gold” efficiency rating and “A” noise rating which enables customers to access better assessment tools that match the performance metrics of Corsair RMx Series RM1000x.

The Cybernetics Gold standard requires power supplies to achieve 87-90% average operating efficiency which means they must pass additional tests that include 5VSB efficiency tests above 75% and idle power consumption tests below 0.19W and power factor tests above 0.970.

The Corsair RMe Series RM850e power supply unit achieves performance certification together with Cybernetics A certification which tests average operating noise levels between 20 to 25 dB while showing better temperature regulation and component cooling performance than its earlier model.

For the 8-pin PCIe and 24-pin ATX connectors, the Corsair RMe Series RM850e is equipped with positioning “combs” for precise and neat cable management, combined with a thin braided cable system that makes moving and hiding cables easier, even in challenging case layouts.

Unlike Corsair’s higher-end power supplies, the RM850e is manufactured by HEC with relatively good build quality, equipped with Teapo electrolytic capacitors capable of withstanding temperatures up to 105°C, ball bearing cooling fans, and high-quality load-bearing components.

To ensure smooth operation, the fans on the Corsair RMe Series RM850e operate in “Zero RPM” mode at loads below 50%, with a maximum noise level of approximately 7 dB at 70% load, 15 dB at 80% load, and below 30 dB at maximum load.

The system which operates with an Intel Core i5 14600K processor and AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT (3×8-pin) graphics card, performs properly with Corsair RMe Series RM850e because it prevents power surges which would cause FPS drops or power failures at maximum TDP of 700W.
