amazon Dreamwave Survivor reviews

The Survivor is a mutifuntional speaker, including the impossible function is battery car.

Design

Dreamwave is focused on product design, both aesthetically and quality. With Sursivor, the company uses an extremely underground style. The loudspeakers were made quite large, like a large Boombox (radio-cassette) from the 80’s of last century. Survivor’s weight of 5.3 kg is heavier than most popular loudspeakers on the market. On the top of the speaker there is a handy strap, very comfortable with a product like the Survivor. Dreamwave also equips the IPX5 waterproof / dustproof speaker for use in adverse weather conditions.

With 2 color options: black and blue banana, Survivor looks “field”, simple but quite suitable for product functions. The right side of speaker has 4 big buttons including: power on / off, receive calls via Bluetooth and 2 volume buttons. In between these buttons is an LED flashlight with 110 Lumen illumination, distance efficient about 120m, integrated SOS flash. The left side has a rubber cover that covers the entire connector of the Survivor. Inside the cover, there is a Line In port for receiving audio signals through the wire, a DC out 5V-1A USB port for charging mobile devices, a 15V DC power port for the Survivor, and two +/- DC out 12V ports used to charge the car battery. During the trip, when the car battery is so weak that it can not start the car, can use the charger from the Survivor to activate the machine.

Inside loudspeaker

The Survivor is equipped with up to four internal speakers, including two full-range speakers to reproduce high and mid range and two dedicated speakers for bass strings. With a 12,000mAh battery, the Survivor can play up to seven hours of music with 30W speakers. In case of necessity, especially for picnics, this Bluetooth speaker box will power 5V-1A for mobile devices, flashlights, and even suport car start. All these functions are integrated in a dust-proof and water-proof loudspeaker. As the name, this is a functional loudspeaker that is suitable for “turbulent” excursions. Survivor is also equipped with NFC proximity technology for quick pairing with this integrated audio source.

Sound

Equipped with 30W speakers, double the other mini speakers, this “Boombox” is for playing music when going on a picnic so it will not “matter” when playing in the room. With a small room of about 20m², this device only open volume of about 20% is enough to hear. With a slightly larger cafe, volume is only about 30% is enough. When playing outdoors or in large spaces Survivor can play with 80% volume but still clear.

When the small speakers play in picnic environment, the drums will quickly dissolve, eventually disappearing. But with Survivor this is no longer a problem. Even on the bookshelf has small compartment and echoes, Survivor also played too much bass caused buzzing. For good drum, it must be placed in a well-ventilated area, with little echoes. The Survivor has good bass reproduction, deep bass and sub-bass feel to create a deep, diffused, heavy and deep feeling. When placed in the open area, the bass does not diffuse too fast. Experiment with Tim Simonec’s Too Hip to retire from Whiplash, the drumstick feels like no bottom, no roll-offs and soft play, spills into space. Survivor really re-create the feeling of “drum” that small speaker can not. In particular, the dance songs such as Faded or Lean On becomes more vibrant. The Survivor’s mid-bass range is pretty good, with each drum beat being regular but not too long to be annoying.

It can be said that the treble is a weakness of the Survivor. The high volume is limited due to the reinforced box is too strong, and the waterproof structure also makes the treble is much hindered. But compared to the quality of other portable speakers, this result is not too bad, even better than the small speakers from China or the Sony X11. Although the high range does not have many advantages, but still help the overall performance of the Survivor is not shadowy, especially when the box has a relatively heavy weight.

Summary

Survivor is definitely not a cheap product. But it’s not just a portable speaker box, it’s also a high quality multipurpose device. With the ability to play music well, reserve energy for other devices, flashlight lighting and even electrically start the car. The Survivor will suit the customers who like the bold, sound quality and suitable for the picnic.
