Guide on connecting wireless headphones to windows 10

Rate this post

Wireless headphones are one of the great technological innovations that help people enjoy music comfortably, dancing to the music without fear of pulling the transmitters to the ground!

But those who have ever tried using wireless earphones with a Windows computer/tablet will know how complicated the process can be. Even once connected, the connection quality or sound quality is not guaranteed. So in this article, We will guide you from A – Z on how to connect and edit so that you can make the best use of your wireless earphones with your Windows 10 computer.

The first step you must do is to determine if your computer has Bluetooth or not. With laptop computers, the Bluetooth chip is already integrated into the Wifi chip, so you do not need to worry anymore, and with desktop computers, there is usually no Bluetooth chip. You can now buy Bluetooth dongles attached to the USB port or more advanced Audiophile connectors like the MEE Audio Connect AFT1. After you have equipped your Windows 10 computer with Bluetooth, you can proceed to the next step.

On Windows 10, press the WINDOWS + I button to open the control panel, tap Devices, and tap Bluetooth, then press the On button. Follow the steps to turn on the headset and switch to Pair; with each headset, there will be a different way to turn it on, so when you buy a headset, you can read more in the manual, when the headset appears on the list of Bluetooth products, select and press Pair.

Another way to connect the headset is to press WINDOWS + A to enter the central control area on the right edge of the screen. You tap on Bluetooth, then select your product there. The interface here will be more intuitive and simpler than the one above, so more people often use it.

If Bluetooth cannot be turned on or the computer refuses to connect to the headset, your device’s Bluetooth driver may not be updated. To do this, look for Device Manager in your device’s search bar, then go to the devices control panel. In the Bluetooth and Network section, right-click and find Update Driver, download and install the latest software versions for your Bluetooth / network device.

After doing those steps, but the sound has not gone through the headphones but still ‘passes out’ to the speakerphone, press the speaker icon on the bottom-right edge of the screen and select SOUNDS. The screen will display a list of audio playback products, select your wireless headset pair, and select Set as the default device, making it the main default audio device.

Another very important step is to switch between Telephony and Audio Sink modes. Telephony is used for talking devices, helping the computer receive the signal from the mic, but this time the sound quality will be reduced! To turn this feature off, go to “Control Panel,” → “Hardware and Sound,” → “Devices and Printers,” press the “Services” button, and uncheck Handsfree Telephony.

The computer will now recognize your wireless headset as the default headset, not a conversational device, so that it will provide the best sound quality, the most stable connection. If you are still experiencing stutters, lag, or poor sound quality, then go back to the first step: upgrade your Bluetooth card or buy external dongles for better quality, because now the problem will lie in the background in hardware; not in software!
