About iKKO

iKKO Audio Technology is a sound company of Shenzhen city, the technology capital of China. This is a new technology company, so new that its website has no news before December of last year! The company’s slogan is “Free Hi-fi”, which is used to refer to the pair of headphones that will be of high quality, but with a price that anyone can reach. Today we will look at iKKO’s first pair of headphones (and up to this point) to verify this advertisement.

Open the box

iKKO OH1 has a slightly boxed way like Astell & Kern, with a layer of white hard paper outside, with only product names and small product photos.

The back is more cramped, with ads and specifications. The most noticeable parameter is that this is a pair of Hybrid headphones, and unlike other companies who don’t want users to know what speaker they use, iKKO advertises that OH1 has 1 Knowles 33518 and 1 Dynamic 10mm film for bass range. Knowles is a familiar name for those who use headphones with a Balance Armature speaker, so we can be assured of some quality, at least not using a loudspeaker of an unnamed brand!

Dynamic diaphragm of OH1 is also not a normal type, when advertised by the company is coated with Titanium and has 2 magnet designs to increase accuracy. According to the company, these two diaphragms are designed to work in harmony with each other like the white and black notes on the piano keyboard, and we will verify this in the next section.

Under the advertising brochures is the headset, made of very soft velvet velvet. We have 6 buffers, divided into 2 parts: Vocal (specializing in vocals) and Balanced. These two types of cushion have different structures to be able to push each sound band according to the user’s music taste, but in my opinion, it affects more to the comfort, and the ability to change the sound is not strong enough Can turn 1 pair of headphones for 2 pairs with different sound quality. Frequency and filter nozzle changing method is more effective than changing sound quality only by tips.

Along with that, we also have a small velvet bag. This bag is quite high quality, wide enough to put earphones, hold on hand very like!

Design

Up to 90% of Inear headphones are now made of plastic to save costs and reduce weight, but iKKO is right in the first pair of headphones tested with metal. And it must be said, the company has succeeded in creating a pair of headphones like OH1 – with very sturdy shell but not too heavy, along with the design with eye-catching diamond cuts.

However, the most impressive point lies in the ergonomics of the headphones, when all the lines of the headphones are placed in the ears of the listeners so although the design is quite large, the ears never give the feeling discomfort. According to me, OH1 can take the mold for other Inear headset pairs designed according to the products of iBasso.

As mentioned, this is a pair of detachable headphones. The 2-pin assembly is convex rather than deep inside like some carriers, so the headset can fit all kinds of wires without fear of not fit. But this design, after a long time, can expand and slip. At the connection, the company also has rubber covers to minimize this situation, but the long-term durability, I can’t judge!

The cord of the ear is made of anti-oxidant copper (OFC) and silver coated. The wire is also very well designed, durable and coupled with the connector jacks made of metal material like headphones. This is a big upgrade from the ‘whole-black’ cord model that even high-end headset makers still use!

Sound quality

One of the points I did not feel interested in the sound quality of the Hybrid headphones pair, is that the user can see the point where these two loudspeakers are divided. Normally, the Dynamic part will take over the bass, while the Balance Armature will take over the middle and high range, and the common sound is divided into 2 parts so it has low coherence. But with OH1, the story is completely different, because if you don’t say it, people will mistakenly think the headset has only one speaker membrane, because the sound quality is very high. And this sound is very praiseworthy, because it is very balanced and has a very good technique.

Starting with bass, OH1’s bass has a moderate amount, for those who only listen to Dance music it may be a little bit, but for those who have a soft music or a background, it is enough. Bass does not always appear to occupy the area of other sound bands, but only when it is necessary to show up, and whenever it appears, it is summarized into one point, not buzzing. In Tiffi x City Girl’s Seaside Adventures, every time the drum sounds, the bass is played, not the sound of the background, resulting in the sound of the OH1 sounding quite clean. The mid bass section is good punchy, but it must be said that the sub bass section has a roll-off phenomenon earlier than I wanted, but overall, this is still a high-tech bass.

Because of its strong and high-speed bass, the transition between the bass and mid (using the Balance Armature diaphragm) is also smooth. The middle part of the OH1 is inclined toward the light, but does not encounter the type of ‘brilliance and hard to hear’ like the early Inear BA earphones. The vocalist’s voice has good detail (not yet reached the level of peeling like high-end headphones – but enough to stand out in the price range), balanced and especially with thickness despite being quite bright. Mid of OH1 is especially suited to the vocalist’s vocals of Above & Beyond, pushing up the good points of headphones, especially in nature and nature. The high-mid part will likely be slightly sibalance, but of course it is under control.

Once again, the BA loudspeaker demonstrates the strength of giving users a treble sound that is more prominent than most headphones that only use Dynamic at the same price range. OH1 has an airy treble sound, clean, accent on the song to make them more prominent. For me, the company can still do a bit more treble, but OH1 will certainly satisfy most listeners, whether they like to listen to treble or not.

The soundstage is not worth mentioning in a pair of headphones at mid-range, but OH1 is worth mentioning because there’s a fairly wide soundstage. In the song Sirens of the sea, each sound is placed in a separate corner, blaming away with the singer to create a space for listening to airy and 3D music. This soundstage is combined with a ‘good but not deadly sound pattern’ which makes OH1 easy to hear, whether in any genre.

Epilogue

iKKO OH1 is indeed a product with many surprises to me. Usually other audio companies will have ‘stepping’ headphones, which are just beginning so they are still experimental and often fail. However, OH1 is the first pair of iKKO headphones but has a very high quality, including both the finish of the outer shell, the quality of the wire and above all the quality of the terminal. This is not a pair of ‘market exploration’ headphones, but a product worth buying and using for a long time.
