Design

The handset batteries “long time” often have to sacrifice design go in exchange for better battery life. However, Lenovo has done well with the P70 while creating a thin smartphone, though equipped with enough battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh. With P1m, though not as sleek as P70 and is somewhat more stout, but the design of the Lenovo machine is still quite careful, especially in the back and borders.

Dorsum of P1m use polycarbonate plastic material non-slip surface roughened hands smooth, dirt-repellent and stain sweating pretty good. Bevelled side is also bent back about 2 edge helps hold the camera with one hand more certain. Cluster camera, flash and noise mic placed on the metal pieces look quite prominent in the back cover.

According to Lenovo, the back is coated with nano P1m with P2i’s technology allows lightweight waterproof machine.

P1m ‘s back side is also easy to mount removable 2 micro SIM and microSD memory card standard. 2 SIM P1m are hot-swappable, no need to restart the computer, regardless of primary or secondary slot and supports both 4G LTE standard. Like the P70, Lenovo continued to warn users not to remove the battery.

At the border, but use plastic, but thanks to the ingenuity and silver paints curved beveled slightly at the edges of P1m borders should look like made from metal. The buttons and speaker holes on the processing machine is pretty neat. Only key switch to battery saver mode is somewhat difficult to work, need to use Ricochet nail to do so is quite shallow and smooth surface.

Similar to the P70, the lower edge of the range P1m also two small dots appear that the machine looks like the system is equipped with dual speakers. But in essence, the machine has only one speaker on the left, while the right speaker slot just to create balance in the design and also the phone mic slot.

Meanwhile, microUSB port and headphone jack are put out on the top edge so will cause a bit cumbersome when using the machine has just plugged.

Contrary to the back was a little hard, the front of the vibe P1m not leave much impression. Pretty thick contour display, causing less elegant front. The highlight is the Lenovo has redesigned icons 3 keys Back, Home, Menu oriented “flat” modernization over. Three touch keys were also in clear, sharp, bottom backlight, convenient to use at night.

Lenovo also proved attentive when presented together with a form of soft plastic bumper comes P1m. However, when put the case, brushed key switch to battery-saving mode, the power key and volume key phrases become difficult to work with due to sink too much. Case also makes up part of the dorsum smudged and difficult to clean the stains.

Screen

With a 5-inch LCD screen, using IPS range 1280×720 pixel resolution reached 294 ppi pixel density, the display quality of P1m enough to provide sharp images, not too porous particles. The screen viewing angle and color temperature fairly close to the norm (not too warm and not cold).

The remaining factors including maximum brightness, contrast and color visibility standards are inadequate, inferior slightly when compared to the Lenovo P70. P1m also light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness, but activities should generally not effective for low light output than is necessary.

Notably, the screen is equipped with technology P1m optimal image quality is firm called MiraVision allows users to customize the contrast, saturation and color temperature to improve image quality.

Camera

P1m have 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Photographed default software is relatively simple, there is no multiplayer mode to “play”. Video recording feature is also only the highest quality HD 720p resolution with 30-minute duration. Machinery HDR mode, but also not really work effectively due to low speed, to keep your hand steady when shooting, long time to save images.

With automatic mode, in bright light, 8MP rear camera for shutter speed, autofocus and save photos pretty quickly, but the standard metering inaccurate white balance, often causing cold air photos, the color is somewhat pale, not highly detailed. In low light conditions, the snapshot appears pretty much Artifacts, again the details were sunk, low shutter speed also makes prone to blur images, lost focus.

Meanwhile, 5MP front camera for selfie pictures with decent quality, the image is relatively clear, detailed and bright colors. However, the camera’s shutter speed is rather slow, prone to image blur caused by hand shake, plus the absence of a beauty faces regime a regrettable omission.

Software

Preinstalled Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vibe UI interface of Lenovo , P1m software has a simple interface, easy to use and operate smoothly. Application management tray to be removed, instead of all applications installed on the machine to be taken out of all the main screen. The quick setup options are also very full, rich but not allow additions. You can also change the interface, but only with 6 preset themes, not downloadable.

Lenovo also preinstalled software of them as the applications ShareIt, Syncit for fast file sharing, synchronization, backup data, such as contacts, messages, call logs, …

However, the smart features on the P70 as double-tap the screen to turn on the machine; click twice on the Home button when the screen is off to take pictures … are not appearing on P1m.

Performance

Performance, with processor MT6735P the quad-core Cortex-A53 (Cortex-A7 upgrade to support 64-bit instruction set), produced in 28 nm process, clocked at 1 GHz, comes with processors Mali-T720 graphics ARM along with 2GB RAM, P1m brings the ability to respond relatively quickly to the basic operations. Score from the performance evaluation software as AnTuTu, Geekbench also give good results, not much different machines with the same price range.

Machines can also play 3D titles with heavy graphics, the current popularity as Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger 2 at medium graphics without encountering shock situation, the lag. However, if you try to push graphics to the highest level. P1m will hardly satisfy by limitations of the graphics chip.

A further plus point for the performance of the machine is equipped 16 GB memory, the system only occupies about 4.9 GB so still over 10 GB for users to install applications, store photos, videos.

Battery life

Regarding battery life, we do not evaluate the machine’s battery life at work, watching movies, playing games, surfing the web and call, the familiar battery of our tests. However, the actual results of use with 4 active mixture of surf and view YouTube videos over Wi-Fi, watching HD movies and gaming offline Asphalt 8, each action 30 minutes from 100% to 10% battery, 4000 mAh battery shows P1m quite impressive.

Specifically, nearly 7 hour using a mixture of 4 works on. With this result, the fully P1m used comfortably all day with high intensity and if at gaming, the machine can be used two days at medium intensity.

Also, as mentioned in the design section, P1m also owns a dedicated switch on the left side allowed the machine goes to “a powerful battery saving”. In this mode, the main screen of the machine will switch to interface with simple black and white (the other applications remain active in full color mode as normal). Mode Wi-Fi and 3G data connections are turned off and the user must manually re-opened if desired. Only Basic 6 applications used is heard, calling, texting, computer, listen to music, surf the web and browse Facebook. You also do not rub Notification bar to see nor enter the Settings (Settings) again.

This mode is particularly suitable when the battery has to very low levels, from less than 20%, but you can not charge immediately, and it will help P1m still can touch, hear calling, browsing, surfing Facebook added a few hours before you find the charger.

Another noteworthy is the P1m integrated Pump Express technology fast charging of MediaTek. However, the supplied charger P1m is still charging intensity usually 5.2V – 2A. Experiment with accompanying charger shows P1m fully charged from 10% to 100% in about 3 hours, including the first 30 minutes to fully charge the battery to 30%. P1m also supports OTG cable to use the batteries in the charger for other devices as needed.

Conclude

With what is shown, Lenovo Vibe P1m showed this is a good handset meets most basic needs of users with a consistent design, performance fairly, okay screen and especially battery life “long time”. However, if focused on imaging capabilities on smartphones, P1m would not be a suitable option by the limitations of the camera.

In this price range, the smartphone segment genuine, P1m will have to compete with other smartphones like Asus Zenfone 2 Laser and Oppo Neo 7. The advantage of the handset from Lenovo is much better battery life and performance also marginally better. Only the camera and design are the P1m longer need to improve more.
