In early 1976, Perreaux launched the first public-address system (PA) in New Zealand. This system is now used in offices, hotels, high-grade apartment buildings, public places such as supermarkets, entertainment areas … to meet the demand for luxury and comfort.
In 1976, the Perreaux PA system was used for the first time in a different way but represented the typical function of this structure. It was a street show by New Zealand’s top rock band – Ragnarok. This first public sound system weighs up to 3 tons with enough volume to produce small vibrations in the vicinity.
1976 also marked a remarkable development for Perreaux when it won the first order from Australia, opening up the opportunity for the audio company to enter the world market.
The challenge arises when engineers work hard to not only ensure the technical specifications but also adjust it to meet the tastes of the new customer group. At the same time, Perreaux received mixed opinions on this important change. However, the company claims to still pursue its original goals but must improve the sound quality. This is perhaps a big turning point in Perreaux’s development, as the company has boldly overcome the obstacles, which most sound producers are confining themselves to in certain “performance spaces”.
In 1977 and 1978, Perreaux caught up with the trend of using Mosfet, which had many advantages over traditional capacitor which helped to reduce the weight and structure of the devices. In particular, the Mosfet amplifier gives a clearer, warmer, louder and sweeter sound.
By 1979, making the previous statement, Perreaux released the first Mosfet amplifier SA80B. Along with that is the PMF2000 high power product. With this move, Perreaux scored on the market as the world’s first manufacturer of Mosfet amplifiers. The reaction of the market at the time to a pioneer product line was noted as positive.
In order to maintain the quality of the product with the craft line and expand it to orther markets (New Zealand had only about 3.9 million people at the time), the company decided to increase its exports. For that reason, Perreaux also had to suspend production of speakers to focus on the strong product. Although, during the previous, the speakers they provided, both professional and amateur, were highly valued. However, the company needs to focus its financial resources to achieve market expansion.
By the early 1980’s, the PMF2150 was lauched in America, where is one of the most demanding markets in the world. Surprisingly, almost immediately, the PMF2150 entered the top 10 of the best hi-fi products in New York, taking second place. Since then, the popularity and revenue of the product and Perreaux was increased dramaticaly.
Later, during the 1980s, Perreaux’s export markets expanded rapidly. Taking advantage of momentum, the New Zealand audio company has been adding new products, including the pre-amplifier also becoming another strength.
Recognizing the need to increase, Perreaux has taken another step further by building more factories as well as recruiting more workers to meet the market. However, according to Perreaux, the craft still needs to be secured to make the product as good as possible, so the company claims to retain the tradition in the production process.
In 1983, the pre-amplifier SM2 appeared firstly on the market – the product is said to have many interesting points compared to the “predecessor” as it integrates many other features and utilities. The SM2, when combined with the PMF2150B amplifier, has become a “perfect couple” in the world market.
In 1984, the next generation PMF-5150B amplifier was born, marking the new success of the New Zealand audio company. Specialized periodicals have devoted much of their time to describing this product, with particular emphasis on sound quality, reasonable size, simple design and the ability to achieve 500W each channel.
Only a year later, Perreaux continues to introduce pre-amplifiers SM3 and PMF3150 amplifiers for professionals and is highly rated by the international hi-fi community. It also introduced more economical models such as SX1, PMF1050 series, and developed several other models. This time also recorded a contract between Perreaux and Lucas Films Ltd. THX, so the New Zealand audio company has become one of the four equipment vendors for the THX theater owned by Stars War.

In 1987, Perreaux completed the development of new E1, E2 pre-amplifiers with 100 and 200 watt in turn , as well as continued to lead the development of the Mosfet amplifier.
