Unboxing Xiaomi Redmi Note 10″
Like previous Xiaomi phones, Redmi Note 10 has a familiar rectangular box retail box with white as the main color. Inside the box, we will have familiar accessories such as a user manual, a SIM stick, a charger, a USB-C cable, and a transparent case.
Design and finish
Like its more expensive sibling, the Redmi Note 10 impresses its IP53 certification for water and dust resistance. However, don’t expect the phone to be fine if you submerge it in water, as this standard only guarantees mild water resistance.
But unlike the “Pro” model, the standard Redmi Note 10 is protected only by Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, instead of Gorilla Glass 5, and the back is made of plastic, not glass anymore. While this will make the phone look less premium, it still feels good in the hand thanks to its slim 8.3mm body and lightweight (178 grams), mainly due to its almost all-plastic construction. Unfortunately, the back of the Redmi Note 10 is quite easy to stick to fingerprints, so you need to clean it regularly to keep the device in the perfect state.
The overall design of the Redmi Note 10 is similar to most other mid-range phones on the market. It uses a punch-hole screen on the front to selfie camera located in the center of the upper border, a thick “chin,” and a rather large rectangular camera cluster on the back that is designed to protrude quite a lot the back to prevent scratches on the lenses.

The left side is where the SIM tray is located.
The bottom edge has the appearance of external speakers, a USB-C charging port, a microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The top of the device has the appearance of a secondary speaker, an infrared port, and a second microphone.
Screen
Although not equipped with a quality 120Hz screen like the “Pro” model, the Redmi Note 10’s 60Hz Super AMOLED panel is good enough to satisfy any fastidious user. This screen has a size of 6.43 inches and supports Full-HD + resolution, so it helps display quite sharp images. It is also touted to support the DCI-P3 color gamut and brightness to 1,100 nits.
However, the tests show that the Redmi Note 10 screen only reaches a maximum brightness of 682 nits, while only 475 nits are manual. Perhaps the advertised 1,100 nits brightness is achievable in small swaths of the screen, but that doesn’t make much sense in day-to-day use.
Battery life
It seems that the Redmi Note 10 lags behind its predecessor when it comes to battery life, mainly due to its low browsing and standby scores. Both have almost identical batteries – 5,020 mAh (Redmi Note 9) versus 5,000 mAh (Redmi Note 10). Even so, the overall score of 110h is nonetheless respectable and enough to warrant all-day battery life for most users.
And yet, according to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 10 is one of the fastest charging phones in its segment, and tests have confirmed it. The actual charging time of this phone is the same as Xiaomi advertised: Charge for 30 minutes to get 65% and fully charge the battery to 100% in just 73 minutes.
That makes the Redmi Note 10 the fastest charging device compared to the mid-range phones in the list below.
Performance
The Redmi Note 10 is one of the first phones to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 678 chipset. This chip will receive support from 4GB/6GB RAM, 128GB internal memory, and users can expand the storage capacity via a microSD card.
As expected, the new chipset inside the Redmi Note 10 performs slightly better than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 675. Perhaps the Snapdragon 678 scores higher in the specialized benchmarks due to the newer operating system. GPU depth. But compared to the chipsets found in rival phones, the overall performance of Xiaomi phones is slightly worse.
In fact, in some tests, the Redmi Note 10 scored lower than its predecessor running on the MediaTek Helio G85. In addition, the Galaxy A32 also seems to perform better in some cases with the Helio G80.
Camera
Like most other mid-range phones on the market, Redmi Note 10 also has a four rear camera setup, including a 48MP main sensor, f/1.8 aperture + 8MP lens, f/2.2 aperture for super shooting angles wide + 2MP macro camera + 2MP sensor for depth measurement when taking portrait photos. This phone has a 13MP selfie camera on the front for users to take “selfies” and make video calls.
Experience shows that the main camera of Redmi Note 10 captures pictures with good detail and sharpness in bright enough conditions. Its dynamic contrast range is also quite wide, so the details in dark areas and bright areas are preserved quite a lot.
In terms of color reproduction, the Redmi Note 10 camera produces photos with true colors. So if you like more vivid colors, you should try AI because this feature is usually turned off by default. AI helps to recognize some objects in the landscape, make colors pop, add a bit of sharpness, but this will cause noise to appear.
As usual, 48MP camera mode does not improve image quality much, so you should use 12MP mode to save memory space.
Although the Redmi Note 10 doesn’t have a dedicated zoom camera, the software inside the phone provides quick 2x zoom switching even while using the standard 1x lens. However, its quality is only enough for “fire resistance” because of its relatively low detail and noise that appears quite a lot when shooting in low-light environments.
Meanwhile, the super wide-angle camera of the Redmi Note 10 is also of moderate quality because its resolution is only 8MP, so the image details obtained are much lower than the main sensor. Its dynamic range is also lower, but the ability to handle distortion at the edge, thanks to pretty good software algorithms, makes the Redmi Note 10’s photos look more impressive than other competitors in the same segment.
As for the selfie camera, you will always get the best “selfie” photos because, in any condition, the subject’s face is always smooth, but the details are still preserved quite a lot. The portrait mode of the selfie camera also completes its job well to give users the best quality photos.
Ending
In general, the Redmi Note 10 is still a bold product of the Redmi Note series from Xiaomi when it has a much better configuration than the price. The remarkable new feature of this smartphone is the much-improved design. The device also has good battery life, stable performance, and a good camera in the price range.
