amazon Seagate Backup Plus 8TB reviews

Boxing products:

The box of Backup plus compared to the old version did not change much in the design. The size of the box is quite compact with simple illustrations and a glimpse. The harmony between the two colors of white and orange makes for a noticeably more prominent image than the old one. This is a point worth noting Seagate.

The product includes a large black box, a power adapter that is equipped with various removable scales and a USB 3.0 cable. So the accessories of the product is no different from the old version except a little upgrade for the source adapter can be compatible with more types of sockets.

Design:

Completely 99% more than the old version of Backup Plus. A black box with glossy surface, the sides are covered with plastic coated on the elegance of a luxury product. The front is a redesigned Seagate logo and has appeared in our previous reviews. The convex holes are located in the hips, dorsum and bottom of the product with the triangle motifs characteristic of Seagate’s design. On the back we can see a power port and a high-speed Micro USB 3.0 port.

Backup Plus’s bottom is still a blue color with completely unmodified textures with floating triangular blocks interrupted by air vents. The non-slip rubber base is also made as a floating block as the pattern on the same surface.

Software controls:

Although Backup Plus can be recognized by the operating system as a regular hard drive, but to increase data security, it has added a Seagate Dashboard with the ability to link directly to cloud systems. Users can have more flexibility in exchanging data across multiple platforms.

Seagate Dashboard has a file size of about 145Mb and after unpacking is about 200Mb not too large. The interface of the software is simple and intuitive so the user will not have too much trouble getting to know this software.

Test 1: Crystal Disk Mark 5.0.2

In this test, Backup Plus has a multi-channel read rate of 63 MB / s and a 82 MB / sec multi-channel write speed when we have a storage device with a read speed lower write speed. The results for small test files below 4Kb are similarly 2Mb / s for reading results and 5Mb / s for recording results. In the single-channel test, the Backup Plus was 56 MBps / s read and 36MB / s similar to the smaller test files below 4KB. This shows that Backup Plus supports good multi-channel readings compared to independent data rates.

Test 2: Anvil’s Storage Utilities

In this test, the number of test samples is more varied and the measured scores are clearer, but we also see the results are proportional and as close to the results of the first test. The response speed and IOPS are also quite good.

Test 3: ATTO Disk Benchmark

This test outperformed the two tests before the read speed of the product in the sample file diversity from 512B to 64Mb. Writing speed is better when files of 12Mb or more read at 100Mb and reach a peak of 120Mb. Write speed is always higher than reading speed.

Test 4: HD Tune Pro 5.5

Since this is a particular storage device and a fairly standard software benchmark, we can only test the read speed of Backup Plus. But test results are very positive. Average read speeds are around 150Mb / s, with a minimum of 140Mb / s and a maximum of 162Mb / s.

In general, the read / write speed here is not high, or if considering the data transfer rate is lower than traditional hard drives, the average speed of typical hard drives is> 140Mb / S). But apparently the bandwidth of USB 3.0 is 5Gb / s and has to be shared for quite a number of different devices so it’s hard to compare to SATA III 6Gb / s used for data storage devices. Therefore, this result is acceptable

Summary:

As the exchange and storage needs grow larger, perhaps we need not just swift communication between devices but also the memory capacity of devices. 8TB is a big number but this number will quickly become smaller when 4k movies, hi-res pictures or hi-res audio files appear more and more. Owning a Backup Plus storage device will be more essential than ever and this will be the optimal choice for not only specialized storage needs but also for users who use it. General entertainment demand.
