Recently, the packaging of Skullcandy has been much simpler, only in black and the color of the product, not in the same colorful colors as before.
The back has printed some basic information, like the amount of time it takes to listen to music and the waterproof.
The kit includes 2 rubber pads (printed with the company’s characteristic skull) and micro USB cable. The use of micro USB does not affect the charging problem, but if expected it will switch to USB Type-C in the future.
This is Skullcandy Sesh’s charging box, which is round but still looks sturdy. On the front we have a button with a strip of 4 LEDs to indicate the amount of battery inside. Skullcandy Sesh in 1 charge for 3 hours of use, combined with the box will be 10 hours. This is not a long playing time, especially compared to the previous TWS pairs of firms, and other brands.
The reason that the music playing time is not long, because Sesh is a pair of TWS headphones designed towards compact. In the hand, Sesh is much smaller than Indy and Push, and it feels the same when worn on the ear. I personally think this is an advantage, helping to wear for a long time without feeling stressed, uncomfortable, just that users must also get used to the amount of music playing time shortened only!
The headset is equipped with IP55 dust and water resistance, which is quite good but can not be immersed for a long time, so users can wear Sesh to exercise, go rain and ‘accidentally pour water’, but don’t take it for swimming.
The outer surface of the headset has physical buttons, and can adjust the volume, transfer songs and call virtual assistants. The fact that a pair of cheap TWS headphones with a control button is praiseworthy, but if the company raised the price a bit more and switched to touch control, it will be much more modern.
Practical experience
The design of the Skullcandy pair is very nice, but the company also had to ‘cut back’ a few things to reduce the price to the user, so what about the user experience? First, these headphones are still equipped with the new Bluetooth 5.0 standard, which helps to ensure good connection quality, minimize latency and especially, we can call the phone with both ears instead one like some older generation TWS series.
The most important thing is that a pair of headphones has not been cut down on Skullcandy Sesh, we still hear a slight stress on the bass, but it is more balanced than before to serve the purpose of listening to various types of Skullcandy in recently. If I had to make a comparison, I still find that Sesh has less bass than Indy and Push, but ‘less’ than Skullcandy’s standard is still marginally better than average.
And indeed, the singer’s voice when shown through Skullcandy Sesh is set high, is a strange thing with the company’s headphones in the past. In my opinion, this is still a slightly gentle mid range, hit a lot on the low-mid and midrange-mid, up to the high-mid, ‘drop’ slightly to not create peaks, accents – one thing necessary for the soprano vocalist Celine Dion, Mariah Carey to ‘shine’ in the true sense. But the fact that it was placed high enough to make it clear and easy to hear was a good point.
The treble strip is also quite similar to the mid, not creating too high brightness so it can not keep up with the strong pair of headphones on this strip. But the point is that the headset is still able to put this component in the right place, giving it a good thickness so the user can still hear it clearly.
