amazon Turtle Beach Headset Stealth 600 reviews

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Headphones for Xbox One do a few things well: produce very crisp sound quality, the wireless connection is seamless and reliable, and the low price tag is a big plus.

For years now, the Turtle Beach headset has remained the gold standard for gaming headsets, and it’s still going strong, especially when it comes to its latest offerings. However, it didn’t take long before competitors like Sony decided to take action, and the company is now just a good headphone maker in a sea of a very good game and entertainment makers. The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 is the company’s wireless headset for Xbox One or PS4, which sounds nice but isn’t too expensive.

A mainstream brand’s wireless earbuds at a price that sounds like a great deal. While that’s true, the somewhat confusing mic placement, lack of flexibility, and uncomfortable fit make the Stealth 600 a best seller.

Turtle Beach has made a lot of compromises with this headset, but those compromises have made it one of the most affordable wireless gaming headsets around. Just weigh your preferences and choose accordingly.

Design

Unlike most modern gaming headsets that focus on sophistication, this Turtle Beach Headset is an inch-by-inch gaming headset. It’s cut from slim plastic, complete with green accents on the cup for the wireless Xbox model we’re reviewing. A PS4 version is also available with the familiar blue-swapped look.

Sadly, the material feels like very cheap plastic. Some parts are quite comfortable, but the headphones certainly have an unsettling creak when held and tried to attach to your head. The build-quality compromises are, of course, fair for the price of wireless headphones with virtual surround sound, although the Bose QuietComfort 35 II controller feels much more refined than the headphones.

The earcups have a slight twist to them, giving them a comfortable fit, and they fold for portability. The foam padding on the headband is luxurious and has a lot to offer, the expandable notches are pretty cheap and thin, so fitting them to a good fit will require some trial and error. Note, the left earcup is quite cramped, as it houses both the volume dial and the chat volume dial, all of which are placed right next to each other.

Efficiency

As long as you can keep it on your head long enough to play the game, the Turtle Beach headphones should have a refined sound. This wireless headset offers both stereo and surrounds sound on Xbox One or PS4, and whichever you choose, the sound is smooth, balanced, and clear. Honestly, it delivers on sound quality. When you switch to virtual surround sound, the audio output impresses with depth and clarity, delivering balanced game audio across different types of games.

The swords and shields in Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Dark Souls will make your ears spin, and that’s what you need from a gaming headset. Moving on to Call of Duty: WWII, you’ll get a punch in multiplayer battles, as bullets fly past your ears and nearby explosions bounce off very well through the Stealth 600.

Despite the legitimate flaws with the Stealth 600’s build and design, this wireless gaming headset has lived up to Turtle Beach’s reputation on the dome front. We weren’t particularly impressed with the no-surround setting, which is a forte on the Hyper X Cloud II, which seems limited and a bit messy for gaming, but you’ll still want to switch to the default surround sound. It makes a significant difference. Again, pressing the power button while playing activates “Superhuman Hearing,” which is a very impressive little perk.
