The colorful Yeedi K700 is a compact, no-frills mopping robot and vacuum cleaner with good battery life and smart navigation technology.

In a sea of ​​indistinct black and gray spots, the Yeedi K700 stands out. Sporting a much brighter, friendlier aesthetic, this $ 349.99-floor cleaning robot, which doubles as a vacuum cleaner and a mop, will appeal to certain buyers only based on appearance. If you’re in that camp, rest assured that the K700 is overall a solid performer. However, it omits some increasingly popular features like voice and app controls, virtual boundaries, and scheduling capabilities. Suppose those are not on your priority list. In that case, the Yeedi K700 is a good, versatile robot that offers long battery life and smart navigation technology to mop and vacuum your home methodically.

Design and Features

You may have never heard of Yeedi, but it’s a sub-brand of Ecovacs that makes some of our favorite floor mopping robots like the premium Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI ($799.99) and the friendly Deebot N79S Budget-friendly ($279.99).

K700 has a unique pink and white design with a scratch-resistant glass cover. As a Chinese with pastel interior tones, the Yeedi K700 suits my home, and I appreciate its aesthetic, although I admit it may not be for everyone. No worries, though: If you like the look and feel of a black or gray robot vacuum, that describes every other model on the market.

With a height of 3.2 inches and a diameter of 12.8 inches, the K700 is quite compact. That said, if you’re looking for an even shorter robot to fit low-profile furniture, check out models by Eufy, which makes several models that are smaller than 3 inches, including RoboVac 11s, RoboVac 30C, and RoboVac G30.

At the top, the K700 has an Auto Mode button and a camera that allows it to map your home for efficient cleaning planning. On the side, it has anti-collision and bumper sensors and a power switch and reset button that returns it to factory settings when held for 5 seconds. At the bottom, it has two side brushes, an anti-drop sensor that helps prevent it from falling downstairs, the main brush. Inside the dustbin, it has a sponge filter and a highly efficient filter to catch dust mites and allergens as it cleans.

The robot offers several cleaning modes, including Auto, Edge, and Spot. In Auto mode, the K700 cleans in an orderly fashion, creating straight lines as it covers the room.

In Edge mode, it cleans around the perimeter of the room. In Spot mode, it spirals around a specific area for more focused cleansing. When the robot completes the cleaning cycle, or the battery is low, the robot will automatically return to the outlet to recharge.

It doesn’t have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so you can’t start and stop cleaning from your phone or set virtual boundaries, but it does come with a small remote. The remote has a start/pause button, navigation buttons for manual navigation, and Home, Edge, and Spot buttons.

In the box, you also get a water tank when you use the robot in mopping mode. At the bottom of the water tank is a washable/reusable microfiber cleaning cloth to remove dirt as the robot mops.

Establish

Setting up the Yeedi K700 couldn’t be easier, and the included quick start guide guides you through the entire process. You need to remove the protective foam strip from the robot, install the robot’s side brushes, and turn it on with the power switch on the side. Then plug in the dock, insert the included battery into the remote, press the Home button, and the robot will go right to the base station to charge. Yeedi recommends placing the dock 1.6 feet away from objects on either side and five feet away from anything. It takes about four hours to charge the first time fully.

While waiting for charging, you should take some time to prepare your home. Yeedi recommends tidying up electrical cords and removing small objects from the floor. If you have any rugs with tassel edges, you may want to fold them up, so the robot doesn’t get stuck on them.

Vacuum mode

The Yeedi K700 is quiet and works quickly and efficiently. It’s so quiet that it doesn’t bother me when it’s running in my office while working. I have laminate, rugs, tiles, and wall-to-wall carpeting in my home, and the Yeedi K700 has no problem moving from one floor type to another.

It was cleaned for just 30 minutes (and missed an entire room) before returning to the base station. After that first test run, I checked the trash can and found it picked up a fair amount of dust and dog hair, especially for a short job.

When the robot is charging, the light on the top of the device will flash white. Within two hours of returning to its base, the light stopped blinking, so I sent it off again, and it immediately returned to the room it missed in the pass first and cleaned there before going on. On the second test run, it cleaned for 92 minutes before indicating the battery was low and returning to the base station, so it turns out the short battery life on the first test run was a problem.

Most robot vacuums can clean in as little as 60 minutes, and many can clean in 90 minutes or more, so the K700’s tested battery life is pretty good. Yeedi says the robot can last for 110 minutes on a single charge in vacuuming mode, though I can’t repeat that result.

After the second test run, the trash can was half full of dust and dog hair, and my floor looked noticeably cleaner. For the first two runs, it didn’t get stuck at all, although I made sure to clean the floor before, as Yeedi recommended.

The robot purposefully provides a Turbo Mode for pet hair, doubles the suction power to 2,000Pa. Yeedi says that double-tapping the Auto button turns on Turbo mode, but doing so never seemed to work in testing. There’s no dedicated Turbo button on the unit or remote, so there’s no way to know if you’ve successfully turned it on. Normally when in Turbo mode, the vacuum cleaner will run louder than usual, but the K700 never gets louder when double-tapping the Auto button.

Wipe mode

When you want to use Yeedi K700 in mopping mode, you need to remove the dustbin, fill the water tank and install it on the robot. Yeedi warns against filling the container with a cleaning solution or anything other than water in the user manual.

That said, a Yeedi rep told me it is indeed possible to put disinfectant in the water tank, as the robot’s Amazon listing shows. “The tank combined with the disinfectant achieves the sterilization effect,” the spokesperson told me in an email.

Some of the more expensive floor cleaning robots like the $800 Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI can automatically detect the carpet and stay away from it while mopping. Like the $500 Proscenic M7 Pro, others let you create virtual boundaries for the robot to avoid certain areas. The K700 does not offer such features.

Yeedi recommends folding the bottom area rugs so the robot will avoid them when mopping, which isn’t a great solution. With stiffer rugs, you’ll probably only be able to fold the bottom two sides. During testing, I folded my area rugs as best I could, but the robot tried to find its way onto them over and over again. It also stuck several times on the rug that I folded it.

Since I only filled the tank with water, it wasn’t a big deal for the robot to go over my area rug in mopping mode. But if you fill the container with cleaning solution or if you have white carpet.

On the plus side, the K700 has a large water tank. At 10 ounces, it’s more than twice as large as the Proscenic M7 Pro and even larger than the Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI. The good thing is that the tank is too big because the robot can run for hours in mopping mode.

Yeedi says the K700 can clean for 250 minutes or over four hours in mop mode. In testing, it ran for an impressive three hours before I noticed that the water tank was empty. By that point, the robot had gone through many of my floors, and they were sparkling clean (and the microfiber wipes were full of dirt), so I sent it home.

The water tank has a dustbin attached, so while mopping, it also acts as a vacuum (though I guess the suction is reduced, which accounts for the improved battery life). After three hours of mopping my floors, the trash can was surprisingly full.

If you have a large house with hard floors and a little carpet area, the Yeedi K700 is a great mopping robot.

Maintenance

As with most robot vacuums, the Yeedi K700 requires regular maintenance. Many robots need to empty the trash after each run, although that may not be the case here. The K700 has a large 20-ounce dustbin (the same size as the Proscenic M7 Pro and larger than the Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI), which the company says needs to be empty once a week. Of course, that will vary depending on how often you run the vacuum and how dirty the floor is.

The company also recommends cleaning the auxiliary brushes every two weeks and replacing them every six months. Cleaning the main brush once a week and replacing it at least once a year, cleaning the filter every once a week, and replace them at least after six months. You should also periodically clean the drop sensors, charging contacts, and docking station.

Compare and conclude

The Yeedi K700 looks good, performs well, and at $349.99, it’s competitively priced for a floor mopping robot that can both vacuum and mop. The lack of virtual boundary support or carpet sensing capabilities makes mopping with the Yeedi K700 difficult if you have area rugs. Still, conversely, setup and use are easy, quiet, compact, and have impressive battery life.

In this price range, you should also check out the iLife V8s vacuum/mopping hybrid robot. It doesn’t have the aesthetic flash or smart navigation like the Yeedi K700, but it does add scheduling support and costs under $300. If you don’t have the cash, check out those mentioned above $799.99 Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI from Yeedi’s sister brand Ecovacs. It’s a waste, but it has artificial intelligence-powered obstacle avoidance technology and unique home monitoring, making it one of the most feature-rich mixed floor mopping robots that we tested.
