Clean regularly
Surely many printer users will get dirty after using the printer for some time, causing print quality to decrease. Cleaning and maintaining the printer is extremely important to keep the machine operating more durable and efficient.
Cleaning the printer needs to be done regularly, or at least once a month.
- Use suitable, good-quality printing paper
Suitable, high-quality printing paper helps the printer operate more efficiently. Therefore, users should pay attention to choosing the right type of printing paper and good printing paper.
Low-cost, low-quality printing paper has a high rate of causing paper jams. Don’t save money by buying cheap, low-quality paper or reusing printer paper and then have to spend a larger amount of money to repair the printer.
- Use appropriate, genuine ink
Inappropriate ink is the cause of low-quality prints and blurred text and images. Not only that, it can also cause damage to the printer. Magnetic shaft and drum laser printers are easily affected by using poor-quality ink. Similar to inkjet printers, low-quality inks often have ink residue, causing nozzle clogging.
Therefore, users need to pay special attention to ink when refilling the machine. Third parties can now produce high-quality inks but have not been certified by the manufacturer. To ensure printer longevity, it is best to choose genuine ink products from the manufacturer (although the cost is higher, it ensures safety and does not cause risks).
- Preserve printing paper
As mentioned above, printing paper directly affects the operation of the printer. Therefore, store printing paper in places with low humidity, which can cause mold and rot, and should not be stored in places with high temperatures or direct sunlight because high temperatures can cause the paper to warp and deform form which prevents the printer from pulling the paper, causing paper jams.
Close the paper tray when not in use
When not in use, the print tray should be kept closed. This prevents dust, hard objects, and liquids from accidentally falling onto the printing paper. Causes damage to the printer with continued use.
- Clean the nozzle
This is where you must always keep it clean because it directly affects printing efficiency. In the most effective way to increase printer life, if you want the print head to be safe after printing, turn on the feature to continuously clean dust from the nozzle.
First, if you want the nozzle to always be clean, go to Start / Control Panel, click Printers and Faxes, right-click on your printer, and select Properties.
Then press from the command line including Nozzle Check, Head Cleaning, and Print Head Alignment at the Utilities Tab.
When you do this regularly, the printer you use will be the cleanest. You can use this method if the machine you are using has not been used for a long time or when preparing to print, you can use this trick to keep the machine safe.
- Leave the printer idle
In this mode, the printer will use less power than usual. This mode helps keep the nozzle safe and the ink here does not dry out and lose quality. So leave it in idle mode when not using the printer.
Do not leave the printer unused for too long
Using the printer for some time will cause the internal components to gradually lose quality compared to the original. If left unused for a long time, it can cause the ink or water ink to accumulate, clot, etc., affecting the operation of the machine.
If you don’t use it regularly, you can also turn on the printer and print 1 or 2 documents. This helps keep the ink from clumping and the machine’s components from being damaged for too long without use.
- Replace worn components
The printer is a consumable device. During the use of the magnetic shaft, the printing drum, magnetic scraper, rubber shaft, ink scraper, and peach (paper roller) will be worn out. Checking and replacing these devices is the most effective method of increasing the life of the printer.
- Do not turn off the device suddenly while in use
There are extremely simple ways to prolong printer life such as turning on/off properly. Suddenly turning off the machine while in use will cause many print head protection operations to not be completed in time. For example, with an inkjet printer, if you turn it off suddenly, the operation of covering the printer nozzle will not be completed in time. This causes the ink to dry out at the nozzle; causing clogging or reducing print quality. Currently, printer lines have improved on/off speed. You will not spend too much time waiting to perform these operations.
